This is a completely different comparison than what me and Jim were discussing. Different people raised in different eras having experienced different events are not going to see things the same way. That said, I really can't say. I suppose they would have wanted to defeat the threat of fascism as much as the next guy/gal. Walter Cronkite was consider liberl and he flew in B-17s over Germany just to get the story. I get the feeling this is sort of like the WW2=Iraq comparioson crap. What do you think they would have done?

And I was listening to Garrison Keeler doing the Writer's Almanac and he was doing "on this date in history" and it was the anniversey of the Battle of Midway and he "informed" me that the Japanese lost seven aircraft carriers in the battle. Proof that NPR is a nationalist propaganda machine! Or that they made a mistake, maybe like the dingbat you were listening to? *We sank four carriers in that battle*

And actually, we were 7-9 in 1979 and won the divion in 1980. Might have won the Super Bowl that year had Fergie not broke his ankle out in San Diego. And BTW, that game should have been in Bufflo, we beat the Bolts that year already and had the same record

Oh, there is bias, check out these two stories on the exact same topic: First the one that appears in the America press: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080309/ap_on_...el_palestinians And how its handled in the UK: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/20080307/tuk...ts-fa6b408.html The American version is a basic cut and paste from the Israeli press and really is pretty useless. Why are the Pals and Europe angry? Never says so. Just because, I guess.

The Distribution of Income
molson_golden2002 replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm not advocating anything. I don't want to do anything. I'm just telling you how the world works. There is no need to do anything, its happening now, and it works. And thanks for tossing in the right wing talking point I knew was coming, I can always count on you! And btw, its a lie. And on a side note, we get a lot for what we are taxed for. It's expensive to run, maintain and expand a modern society. I won't expect you to understand that, but there it is anyway -
The Distribution of Income

1) I guess I have to ask you now: You are joking, right? I'm trying to make sense of what you wrote. You almost make it seem like you are a slave in the system. Why not quit your job? You wouldn't have to pay those "exorbitant" tax rates if you were not being paid through the system. Are you happy to have a job or not? 2) Poppycock. Did you read the article that started this thread? 50% of Americans are not rich. The middle class and poor are aided significantly by the redistribution of income directly and indirectly. Directly, teachers, police, soldiers, government officials, mailmen whatever are directly effected and they turn around and spend the money on GG's cars along with toasters, shoes, coffee, hockey tickets, bottled water and whatever else, which indirectly helps people providing goods and services, you know, the people that sell the stuff. During the Great Depression the store keepers may have bitcxhed about the poor getting relief, but they sure as hell cashed their relief checks and sold them their goods. Is the system perfect? Is anything? -

Then why even respond? My point is so obviously true and simple, I am pretty surprised anyone would challange it--with insults, not counterarguments, btw. That I'm being called an idiot by you for stating a basic fact of how our government and economy interreact successfully says more about you than me. Your response tells me you simply don't know very much. Carry on with your ignorant insults -

All three of you are such morons. Can at least one of you clowns make a counter argument? Two of you I understand can't, but Tom I would expect you could show something of an argument. Perhaps it's that I'm so obviously right you can't touch me. I figured one of you would throw out some right wing talking point for me to debunk at least but you all are even too afraid to do that. Fugging pussies! Really, stupid fugging pussies -

The Distribution of Income
molson_golden2002 replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
not at all. If the rich have all the money the average person couldn't buy cars and all the auto workers would lose their jobs. So we have Progressive [i.e. very good] taxation which re-distributes the wealth so the economy can keep going around. -
The Distribution of Income
molson_golden2002 replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think its necessary to keep the economy in balance. The government redistributes the wealth so people can buy things, businesses can sell things and hire workers and the world can keep turning -
I remember that. Have to remember that Bush used the emoptional impact of 9-11 to sell the war of choice in Iraq. The media was just as bullied as were the Democrats into this thing. "You're either for us or against us!" And don't forget, people like "Jeff Gannon" were allowed in as "journalists" to ask the President questions instead of real journalists. Serious questions were discredited, ridiculed and mocked by the right wing noise machine.
