Leaving Iraq Honorably
molson_golden2002 replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Doesn't change the fact that Bush was good at looking intelligent reading speeches in front of the troops but is as dumb as they come. He is President because of his name and family and his handlers. At least guys like Nixon or Reagan or Clinton actually rose their way to the top instead of having everything handed to them. Bush is a total screw up and many of us saw that from the beginning. Those who are easily impressed with shinny things, bright colors and a lot of flags couldn't. One term was excusable, the second one was pathetic. -

Winning elections and actually governing are two very different things. I guess I would be expecting too much of you to know that -
Hagel is a good man. The GOP base which desperately hangs onto this war out of pride, gross and disgusting ignorance and hate would never support him for the nomination. Besides, he is too smart to be nominated by the Republicans. They like appallingly stupid candidates like Bush. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...2401104_pf.html

Sidney Blumenthal said much the same thing I did: The O.J. Simpson project was intended to debase everyone involved, but particularly "the American people," held in utter contempt as hungry consumers of tabloid trash, whose imbibing of the Murdoch product would enable their superior loathing and resentment of the black man who gets away with murder and is paid handsomely to boot. In a sense, "If I Did It" was a glossy Willie Horton ad. In Murdoch's vision, the American people are a mass of Michael Richardses, easily prompted by obvious triggers. As Murdoch takes the money and runs, the joke's on them. At least that's the business plan. http://www.salon.com/opinion/blumenthal/20...och/index1.html -

Oh, is the definition of 'Sociopath' changed, too? Bush was having fun looking under that table I bet. He cares about the troops! Night! And have a good thanksgiving in all seriousness. -
Enjoy the weekend and Go Bills! Just remember I'm a complete idiot who eats inanimate objects!

And what I'm saying is that Neither Bush nor OJ were or will be convicted by a jury in a criminal trial. You remember Bush joking about WMD under a table? He laughed about the mission to find WMD infront of the national press. That day a guy died looking for WMD in Iraq. Pretty sick. Bill O'Reilly had the women on his show and basically belittled her! What a scum bag. Bush could give a f**in sh-- about what he has done. Same as OJ. If you reply to this post, please defend Bush looking under a table as a joke for WMD. Otherwise don't bother. Unless you think a sociopath is someone who has a social life, LOL! -

Learn what a sociopath is before you misapply the term, ok? Both Fox Networks are owned by same guy, you do know that, right? Can you please expand on your Hannity/Family guy comment, I'd be interested to read who you think watches the two shows and the difference between them. I'd be willing to bet neither group of people know the definition of a 'sociopath' -

Don't worry, I can talk history all night and all day, try me. Oh? Rupert Murdoch doesn't own both? A difference in name only Congrats, you can pick out a typo, you win 845059 He cut the heads off, not chopped, but whatever. And I never called OJ a 'sociopath.' Learn what words mean before you use them. Sorry, I obvious fugged up the quote thing here -

I'm a Lib and a Veteran and all the Iraq War Veterans who ran for Congress this year were Democrats. Why didn't College Republicans join the war? Cowards? And you are right about fighting an ideology, so why feed its philosphy by occupying one of its countries? Hitler came to power in large part because of the unjustness of Versaillle. We are giving them a cause celebre right in the heart of their region. And as for the bomb, looks like Iran is going to get one. Not much we can do really, unless we want the oil cut off and an international economic meltdown. The Saudi ambassador recently said that even if one missle was fired towrds Saudi Arabia and hit nothing, the price of oil would hit $100 a Bbl. Imagine if Iran turned off their oil or closed the Straits of Hormuz? No easy choices, really. 843599 Oh really? Why not go back to 1953 when CIA overthru democratically elected Iranian gov? Carter got the hostages back alive, and that is something good. -

Chuckle, you are using the actions of spineless politicians to justify an unnecessary war! Great! And don't forget, those spineless politicians were only trying to save their jobs with that vote. Bush and the GOP would have swept the House by 50-60 seats and senate by 10-15 [yes, just guestimates] if they had voted against his disasterous policies. The hysteria created by 9-11 was used to drive momentium for the fiasco in Iraq. What? Something like 70% of Americans believed Saddam was behind 9-11? I'm sure a few on this board still think that, actually. -

LOL, is this your expanded version of saying nothing at all? Maybe you could start a blog and put nothing on it? I'm sorry if you don't like my comparing Bush to OJ, but too bad, ignore my posts if you don't like it. At least OJ didn't start an unecessary war that has killed many thousands of people. -
Pure bunk! Tourist industry types, private citizens who didn't want oil slicks on their beaches along with Conservationists didn't want that oil drilled. And remember, 40 years ago the technology was not available to drill in many places. Fact is, a lot of oil reserves in the United States just became to hard to pump by 1970 because they were running low. Drive through Western PA and look around if you need proof of that. And its happening around the globe, in Mexico's largest reserve for instance. We don't know how much Saudi Arabia even has because they will not tell, or tell honestly at least. With the demand for oil rising so quickly we are fools not to be pushing conservation and alternative energy more. Hitler had sythetic diesel fuel 60 years ago. Think how much technology has advanced in that time and how much better we could do now. Hell, a little hand held calulator of today would be a room sized computer for the 1940's. We just need the political will to do it.

Have you noticed anything since election day?
molson_golden2002 replied to blzrul's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The day before the election it was at a 10 month low, now its rising again. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Bush called his Saudi buddies and asked for a little emergency pumping! Remember how enron gouged the market in California? -

How is he different from the Conservative movement that told us for three plus years Iraq was going fine while our troops died for no reason, call veterans cowards for questioning a questionable war, want to stop all abortions while they want to let kids starve who are born to poor mothers and blame gays for 9-11? Hell, OJ is almost normal when compared to Bush, Falwell and Foley. -
And then wants to make money off it, but they are forced to back down in showing this pathetic, disgusting display to their red state audience. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061120/ap_on_...on_interview_26 NEW YORK - After a firestorm of criticism, News. Corp. said Monday that it has canceled the O.J. Simpson book and TV special "If I Did It." "I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project," said Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. chairman. "We are sorry for any pain that this has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson." A dozen Fox affiliates had already said they would not air the two-part sweeps month special, planned for next week before the Nov. 30 publication of the book by ReganBooks. The publishing house is a HarperCollins imprint owned — like the Fox network — by News Corp. In both the book and show, Simpson speaks in hypothetical terms about how he would have committed the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Goldman. Relatives of the victims have lashed out at the now scuttled publication and broadcast plans. "He destroyed my son and took from my family Ron's future and life. And for that I'll hate him always and find him despicable," Fred Goldman told ABC last week. The industry trade publication Broadcasting & Cable editorialized against the show Monday, saying "Fox should cancel this evil sweeps stunt."
