Bills in playoffs is better
-
No way the bills draft a punter in the 1st
-
He's not worth picking up at the curb
-
Alabama played like thebills D so its ok
-
Clemson punter sucks. Watson should throw an int on 4th down. Maybe the referee should punt.
-
Schmidt did good. Maybe he should replace taylor.
-
Can we draft the referee? He looks like a good DE.

I don't get the hate on whaley. He has brought in solid free agents on the cheap and is getting several solid players every draft. Last offseason he brought in 2 cheap LBs with probowl level talent and hopefully 1-2 draft picks will become pro-bowl level talent. People say he hasn't found a QB, what QB could he find better than Taylor? If you look at espn's ranking for total QBR for 2016, only one player ranks higher than Taylor that Whaley could have gotten: Prescott. If you look at the top 20 who could he get? Maybe Carr. We can debate Palmer, Alex Smith, Bradford. Thats it for people available in the last 4 years without a top 2 pick. Everyone else is an orton or definitely worse than Taylor. About half the teams are looking for a QB upgrade, they are hard to find.

Breaking News: Rex Ryan and Rob Ryan Fired
deadbeef replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't understand the hate on Whaley. He has drafted well, typically getting 3 starters per draft. 2nd and 3rd rounders have been good picks, and even late rounders have been contributors. Getting starters in the 2nd round is 50% at best, 3rd round, probably 30% success rate. 2-4 Rookies have been contributing their first year. Finding Brown, Alexander, etc. as free agents on the cheap has been great. -
I recall a game that losman struck two 83yd bombs to lee evans, evans had like 230yards receiving. One was stunning, like 75yds in the air.

TOD 7/13: Should the pre-season be less than four games?
deadbeef replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its currently 4 games and the starters only play 6-7 quarters. I think the backups and rookies need the reps to learn. 4 is ok. -
RD 3, Pick 80: DT Adolphus Washington, The Ohio State U

For those that wanted a starter, who exactly is or 3rd DL? This guy makes sense as a 3-4 DE. -

Rex Ryan wants best defense EVER!!!
deadbeef replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Revis is 30 and is going to want a huge contract. How many elite years does he have left? Would he play corner for 3 then move to safety? -
The most prolific passing teams in history have not won a superbowl. The most prolific defenses have won every time. 2001 rams (greatest show on turf), undefeated patriots team, Manning's broncos all lost. 85 Bears, 2000 ravens, 2002 Buccaneers Won. If you have a mediocre offense but your D limits Peyton Manning and Brady to 10 points you win...

Coaches Who May Be Joining Rex Ryan's Staff ???
deadbeef replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Profiles of new assistants were just posted. Some talented people were brought in by Rex. Dunbar sounds like a superb DL coach, and DB's with Henderson and McDonald will be in great shape with a very experienced coach and a former all-pro DB. It looks like the D will be very well coached as expected. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Bills-add-seven-assistants-to-coaching-staff/c54871d7-c3a8-423d-82af-d9f7efef0eb7 -
Raiders hire DelRio; Niners to promote Tomsula to HC
deadbeef replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, we are talking Mcdaniels here, he won't trade for anyone with potential talent. I'll trade him Kouandjio and throw in Ladanian Tomlinson as a running QB, I think he has a higher QB rating than Matt Ryan. Good question though, if Mcdaniels is coach of Atlanta what would you send in a trade for Matt Ryan? -

That would be great! He'll trade us Matt Ryan then draft a running QB. -
I’m "Happy to be here," stated ex Dolphins FB Rob Konrad at a press conference this afternoon where he recounted details of his 16-hour survival swim after a boating accident. “It's an incredible story," endurance swimmer Diana Nyad said. "Taking his life in his hands and deciding he was going to save himself, I admire him." “I really admire him for his long swim through waters infested with jellyfish and sharks,” stated Kiko Alonso. “I didn’t have to deal with that last December when I swam to Toronto for our Falcons game. The speed bump in Niagara slowed me down a bit but my swim was otherwise a pretty relaxing pre-game warmup. I’m not sure what I’d do if I encountered a shark, I’m not really a sushi kind of guy.” When asked his thoughts on ending the Toronto series, Alonso stated “yes, I’ll miss the series in Toronto. I was hoping to redeem myself a little bit. Mario thinks we would have won that game if I hadn’t used Visine after that swim. I was hoping to invite Mr Konrad to join me for the next swim to Toronto.”

So is Mark Sanchez coming to Buffalo too?
deadbeef replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sanchez is no improvement over EJ. EJ has more room to improve. EJ's work ethic and smarts separate him from most of the QB busts like Sanchez... -
Stop trying to reach the ball over the goal line!
deadbeef replied to Chuck Schick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keep in mind the ground cannot cause a fumble but it can cause an incomplete pass. Either establish possession before hitting the ground or hold onto the ball and don't let the ball touch the ground. There are two ways of establishing a valid catch: 1. Catch the ball and make a "football move". This is typically taking two steps after catching the ball. If this happens then the receiver has established possession and it doesn't make any difference if the receiver drops the ball when he hits the ground. The ground cannot cause a fumble. 2. Make a catch in the air and control the ball through the landing. Keep your hands under the ball so it does not touch the ground. If hitting the ground causes you to lose control of the ball its an incomplete pass. If the ball never actually touches the ground and you regain control in bounds then its a complete pass. The description for the call is quite simple. The receiver did not make a few steps before hitting the ground so the only way for him to establish a valid catch is to control the ball through the process of hitting the ground and not bobble it. He bobbled it and the ball touched the ground before he established possession so it was correctly ruled an incomplete pass. If you have caught the ball, made at least two steps, and then reach out for the TD the ground cannot cause a fumble. If you lose the ball after it crosses the goal line its a TD. If you drop the ball before the goal line and before contacting the ground its a fumble (if it goes through the endzone and out of bounds it becomes a turnover). If you are diving for the catch and will not be making two steps then the receiver must hold onto the ball and that is more important than reaching for the goal line. -
Carucci's update on coaching search
deadbeef replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll join those that think EJ has a solid chance of being good. Everyone says he has the arm, but the big difference between him and many busts like Losman or Jamarcus Russell is his intelligence and excellent work ethic. QBs need time to learn to read defenses and know the playbook. They become good when they intuitively and automatically know where to throw the ball instead of thinking about it. The "game slows down" as they call it after the first few seasons. With work ethic, coaching, and brains he can get there. He was said to know the playbook like the back of his hand. But reading a defense is a challenge. He is a film junkee, works after practice, and studies hard to learn but it takes time. Once he knows where to go with the ball on a play call for a given deference he'll have success. Once he can do it automatically in a split second without thinking he'll be a solid starter. Who knows when or if he'll get there but I think a good coach can get him there. -
Fred Jackson discusses Marrone vs. Hackett
deadbeef replied to 5 Wide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw another commentary stating Marone wanted to simplify the play calling for the players. Dick Jauron wanted the same thing that led to Alex Van Pelt as OC when the existing OC quit and refused to simplify it further. That turned out less than splendid.
