The bottom line is that regardless of this particular play, the Bills were jobbed by the refs on the Robey play. That wasn't even remotely close to being a penalty.
yep.
One of the worst calls I've seen at the most critical moment of a game. Just unreal, honestly.

He needs to do what EJ did and simply deactivate his social media or make it all fully private. Way too many idiots out there and they all get off on social media trolling.

TTs are actually better. 70% completion, 8.0 YPA and 103 rating, and that doesn't count the running. TT is sixth in the league in passing. People seem to be forgetting that in all this woe is me and the Bills suck.
Yeah I know. I'm pumped about TT--I truly feel we've found our guy. I'm surprised more aren't feeling the same way. I've seen many the "QB is still the issue" and "Whaley and co. dropped the ball" posts and threads.
QB is not the issue imo. TT should also only improve with more real game experience. Our biggest issues are the injuries and the defense not getting Rex's system and performing how literally every fan and even the media believed they would. That is the colossal failure so far this season--not QB.
Outside of Cam Newton (who is 6'6 and 260#) a team needs a pocket passing QB. Tyrod may become that but it's worrisome that he's hurt and it happened on a long scramble. It's difficult to succeed in this league playing your backup 4 games every season.
The Bills may be 3-4 and "all this woe" but they're certainly trending down after a debilitating loss in London. The defense is a mess, the starting QB is injured as is their 2014 top pick WR, and internal strife between the GM and HC. 3-4 is extremely underwhelming and doesn't tell the story of where they are at their bye week.
Tyrod has shown he can make all the throws from inside and outside the pocket. Can he improve inside the pocket? Yes! He needs more experience.

I guess i really don't think joechel held him. I think he only got his arm in there and pushed, which isn't illegal. If he grabs the jersey, yeah, it's a hold, but i don't see him doing that.
I agree. At the time, I thought it was a blatant hold. Having watched it again, looked like a good block to me. Oh, well.
I see what you're both saying. But what about after Bortles steps up and starts moving to his left? Hughes tries to pursue him and is definitely held up there. Maybe not the worst hold of all time, but with the back judge right there I'd expect a flag in such a crucial situation.
Then I will go back to the Urbik hold in the Giants game. By this standard, that was much less of a hold. I wouldn't care as much about the Hughes non-call if there was friggin consistency across the league. We lost two games because of inconsistent calls like these. I don't want to hear crap that Bills shouldn't be in a position where one play decides the game. In a parity league, one play usually does decide a game.
I think most if not everyone feels the same way. Just call it somewhat consistent. It's now like basketball, which is a joke with refereeing; you have to cross your fingers and hope you get the right crew, and if you get the wrong one (For us, that'd be Walt Anderson and co.) you already know you'll get f***** multiple times.

Really, it's not. If you keep your hands inside defender's arms, it will not get called. Focus on it-- it literally happens on every passing play. It even happened to corbin bryant on the same play. It was holding in the 1960s, which was one of the reasons deacon jones had like 8 zillion sacks. The policy is there to protect qbs and help the passing game. The d-line players now are simply too fast and too good to try and block legally in the 1960s sense of blocking policy.
I know what you're saying, but when a guy is beat and the defender is pushing past him, extending your arm across his chest and 'holding' him back with all you've got is...holding. The positioning of the two players DOES matter. You seem to be thinking of when two guys are face to face and the OLineman is holding inside of the pads. That's what won't be called. But Hughes beat the LT and got 'armbarred' for lack of a better term, then we he tried to come back and pursue Bortles he was grabbed and held back.

all I have to say is wow this is like the smoking gun. Former Major League Baseball player and NY Met Lenny Dkystra Hired PI's To Track Umpires to get calls by using the info he got from the Private Investigators and used it to squeeze the umpires to his advantage. So he ends up leading the League in walks and on base percentage and gets huge contracts. He spent over a half Million dollars getting the dirt
on these Umpires and using it to his advantage.
Video proof https://amp.twimg.co...a9-f342d89d6da6
That is unbelievable. Thanks for the link! In the video, I saw the Sabres vs Flyers scroll across the bottom. Was this filmed yesterday then? This has to become a major story, no?
-
That is just not close to true. If you don't grab the jersey, it's not considered a hold; it is considered a damn good block. It's why teams focus on drafting long-armed OTs who have good "reaches".
Wow. That's totally wrong.
-
OK, but is there some outcry that TT hasn't warranted more opportunities? I think most fans can't wait for TT to return so they don't have to watch EJM anymore.
Well there's been a lot of talk about drafting QB's and tanking for 2016 and not taking Carr and Bridgewater etc. I'm extremely pumped about TT and don't know why any other Bills fan wouldn't be. He's shown he can make all the throws in and out of the pocket, is a true leader, has that X factor, can put the team on his back, and has been great at every level he's ever played.
Whatever you think he is now, the more experience he gets, the better he will get imo. Obviously he needs to improve in certain areas and I'm sure he knows this and will work to do so.
-
How can you possibly not see the hold on the TD play by Bortles? It's blatant. And all you have to do is see that Hughes has his man beat--this forces a hold from the LT.
-
Because they are incompetent I guess. Because they miss calls all the time? Because the back judge just happened to be looking at another block when the blatant hold occurred? I was simply responding to your post which made zero sense since it was disproven in the previous game.
What's crazy is that the back judge was looking right at Bortles and Hughes and the guy holding him and still did nothing. You could see on the live broadcast that the ref was RIGHT there.
-
I'm sick of NFL officiating. The fix is on and it's not stopping. Games are in control of the refs and not the players. It's truly disgusting.
I don't think it's a fix. They just truly suck.
-
I'm serious. Don't watch this.
Okay, you've been warned:
It was obvious as I watched live. Like blatantly obvious. I stupidly was expecting the flag to come flying in any second.
-
This just shows the stupidity at the top of the flow chart in wasted first round picks.
JP Losman 2004 & 2005 two first rounders...really? , John McCargo 2006 , Marshawn Lynch 2007 only three and a half years in Bflo, and five and a half years in Seattle a 5 time pro bowler with 6 1000 yard seasons now looking like a future HoF RB for a fourth round pick
Aaron Maybin 2009 CJ Spiller 2010 a RB when the team was desperate for a LT Sammy Watkins two first rounders for a fragile WR when the team still doesn't have a franchise QB, 2014 & 2015
and it is ongoing...In 2014 the Bills could have drafted Odell Beckham Jr, then traded up, and gotten QB Derek Carr in the 2nd round who is looking like the real deal in Oakland. Plus, they would still have had that 2015 first round pick.
When will this team ever see that franchise QB again?
Taylor is going to be our franchise QB. How could we have traded up and gotten Carr in the 2nd round when he was selected in the 1st?
-
Is he going to be the next franchise QB? His numbers this year are pretty great:
65.8 percent completion pct, 11/3 TD-to-INT ratio, 7.6 ypa (8.0 adjusted ypa), and a very low 4.0 percent sack rate. All of that adds up to a rating of 101.0 through 6 games. Personally, I thought he began playing well in the second half of last season (with a couple of duds), and he's certainly on the improvement track this year. Great pick by the Raiders, who may well get to the playoffs in a mediocre AFC.

How do those compare to TT's?
-
a genius doesn't produce a 3-4 team with a loss to one of the worst teams in the league while having a very high payroll. I think we can very safely conclude he's no genius. the real question is whether he is a desirable or even adequate gm. I suspect a majority of league owners would say no at this point. they'd likely look elsewhere if wanting to make a change.
Whaley would be snapped up in a second if we fired him.
-
Hit Poz too hard.
'Illegal Peel Back Block' whatever that is lol
The officiating is horrible in every game. I watch red zone channel and a call in one game is not called in another. No consistency from game to game...refs are looking directly at plays and not making calls.
Just by far the worst refs in any major sport. Mind boggling how inconsistent they are.

Yielding EJ and Sammy.....
Hasn't worked out as well as one would have hoped.
Wow. Quite a substantive post. Great insight.
-
I said it the first time he was cut that Bills fans would regret not starting Cassell over Tyrod or EN. Of course, I only thought we'd win 4 games this season w/out Cassell, and we've already won 3!
Cool!
-
Refs screwed the Jags on EJ's phantom roughing the passer call on 3rd down.
that drive still didn't result in any points for the Bills

Looks like bars suing, rather than general consumers.
Did anyone end up getting ST Online this year? How's the service been?
I have yet to buy - somehow every Bills game has been on TV in Vermont, but I would bet that might end after the bye (though Jets might be on, Pats for sure, then it's almost holiday time and I'll be back in the Buffalo area where is on the regular TV). Price is down to $150 from $200 at beginning of the season...
I got the ST online and same as someone else mentioned--upgraded to best package. Actually kind of disappointed. The picture is good most of the time, but fades to blurry at others. Also, once games start at 1pm and you try to get in it takes forever to load. I've missed two opening drives because of that. Also when you switch to other games it's not as fast as I'd like and some simply don't load--and not the ones that are being broadcast locally. It's annoying. And I have solid, fast internet that is very consistent. Other pages open and close quickly--the ST online just is often slow. I made sure one week to log in around 12:15 or 12:30, so I didn't miss the opening drive. I think that worked.
I did the monthly payments. Ended up not paying for the second month and just streamed online for free like I used to. Comparable quality and same levels of loading/etc. I'm not sure yet if I'll pay for month 3. I was definitely hoping it'd be stress free and consistent and the loading problems wouldn't exist.
Plus, you don't get the nationally broadcast games including the night games on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday. So I honestly don't know how great the deal is. Especially for someone like me, who just has internet and no cable (by choice).
-
They also run pick plays on 70% of their plays! They get tagged once in a while, but they know the refs won't call it every time. So they take their medicine once in a game and get away with the rest of them.
The Patriots have always had quite a bit of turnover. They're actually known for that.
-
Agree - the O-line plays with no passion or attitude.
Haha how could you possibly know this? Are you down at field level for every play? Right next to each guy? Compare that to a baseline you've created for them. Jeeez people say the most ridiculous generic dumb sh*t
-
I'm mad and I'm not gonna take it anymore!!!!

Georgia Bill, it all depends what you mean by "sucks" -- if you mean we're the Cleveland Browns, well, no, we don't suck like that. But then again, let's ask it this way:
Is the distance between the Browns and the Bills greater, or less, than the distance between the Bills and the Pats? I think any honest person would have to say we're a lot closer to the bottom than we are to the top.
It's a different kind of suck, but still ...
The Browns don't look that bad

You realize you have absolutely no idea what Rex's schedule is? And how he prepares and for how long?
