I'm not arguing with you buddy that's exactly what I was getting at. The only thing I advocated was (maybe) putting him in our OLB rotation - short yardage situations and such.

You can't just throw your SS down in the box every down as support against the run. A true strong safety has to be able to be at least serviceable in pass coverage as well - teams DO often throw the ball on 1st and 2nd down nowadays, if you haven't noticed. Roy has proven over the years he can't cover, period. You want to bring him in? Fine, throw Dallas a 7th and play him as a situational outside linebacker. That's all he is.

Doesn't keeping McIntyre
Zulu Cthulhu replied to grammer_police's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Doesn't keeping McIntyre, Go against Turk's "no fullback" phillosophy?" Phillosophy huh? And you work at a newspaper? Oh wait, it's the Buffalo News. Nevermind. -
plus, Skooby has a picture with him, and he has an expensive car so that's a really big deal.
-
So first Turk says the "true fullback" scheme is scrapped after last year's offensive output, then we re-sign the grocery bagger who was a fill-in when our original FB got hurt last year? They aren't going to even make a play for a real fullback like Weaver?

Kipes got better hair though...that mop cashes checks -
He's great at picking up trash; maybe the city sanitation department is looking for another garbage man.

Predict the Bills targets
Zulu Cthulhu replied to Nostradumbass's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's not good anymore that's my point. How many Bucs games did you watch last year? One? None? Well I watched almost every one - he cannot run anymore, his legs are shot. He's not an upgrade over anyone, even Ellison. BTW, ellison wouldn't start over DiGeorgio anyway. -
Predict the Bills targets
Zulu Cthulhu replied to Nostradumbass's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
God I hope that isn't their thinking, exactly for the reasons you stated. Character, Leadership, all those other "qualities" - I'll pass. Give me 22 angry mean guys that curse at reporters and slap their women, as long as they can play. Character is an unnecessary luxury in football. -
Predict the Bills targets
Zulu Cthulhu replied to Nostradumbass's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is the fascination with this guy? I know you have all heard of him and get all excited, but please face facts. There is wide agreement that Brooks has lost much of his speed and range that made him a nasty cover 2 LB. He ain't the guy from 2002. Get over it. If the Bills target this fossil, things are much worse at OBD than I previously thought. -
I think Marshawn is done as a Buffalo Bill......
Zulu Cthulhu replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could care less where, when, how, or with whom Lynch smokes weed. It is entirely his business and we, collectively, are not owed any sort of standard of behavior by him. Here's a secret: the NFL cares about his pot arrest for one reason, and one reason only: $$$. If the league's main sponsors were High Times magazine and Chong's glassware, instead of Beer companies, guaranteed you wouldn't see any suspensions for pot arrests. As for labeling all this behaviour as "thuggery," Skoob, you thinly veiled racism wears thin on those of us living in this century. It makes me want to slap your mom for spawning such a dunce. -
Schonert speaks at the Combine
Zulu Cthulhu replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amen. And there aren't many good available fullbacks left out there in today's NFL. There weren't many available last year either, when Turk unveiled his "return to the true fullback" strategy. It is a dying position, in the college game as well. That is why I question Turk's readiness for this job; I don't view him as "mature" or "flexible" lurker for abandoning his position; it looks like amateur hour. You want to party like it's 1999 with Sam Gash? Fine, then you go to your organization and tell them to make a play for one of few capable fullbacks left in the NFL. You don't hit the road with some dumpster-diver. It is short-sighted. The whole experiment just smacks of Turk's desire to do or say anything to differentiate himself from the previous unpopular coordinator. -

Zulu Cthulhu replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand Turk's initial philosophy of throwing the flat route to a fullback, considering our tight end situation is abysmal. I think he tried it last year for about one half of the first game and realized that just doesn't work when you have also-rans at that position as well. That strategy got abandoned and now he is revising his philosophy, hoping the TE/H-back situation will improve. I hope it will too - I always thought a reliable and talented TE is a big help to a young quarterback (I still think Romo would be terrible without Witten). The jury is still out on Fine of course, and drafting a TE in the 1st or 2nd round is an option for us obviously, even though that is a shame when the holes on defense at every position (except corner) are a huge concern. -

Is it me or does Turk just seem not up to this job? Switching his strategy after just one year on the job? Don't most good coordinators have a set philosophy of what they want to do going into their job? This whole coaching staff (except April of course) just look comically over matched....it's disconcerting. -
Al always loves to set the market. Wonder what Greer is thinking right now...

Three years, MINIMUM $45 million. Makes that Hayden deal look like pennies. LINK

The cuts have begun...Lions, Browns, Giants
Zulu Cthulhu replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes because I said cut all three... Anyways I prefaced that with "if you want to talk about cuts.." anyone of those 3 are more than ripe, they're starting to rot. If we did cut ONE of those abominations, the situation behind them is different than at OG: the team has already began to groom backups like Ellis. And hey, if Ralph huffs some glue one day and decides to go crazy, he could throw money at Peppers. Try again -
The cuts have begun...Lions, Browns, Giants
Zulu Cthulhu replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cut Dockery now...OK. Who replaces him? A Draft Pick? One of our current backup guards? Another veteran free agent guard at an inflated price? You whine and cry about this guy's salary because he hasn't become an all-world guard in Buffalo, but you either ignore or just can't comprehend the NFL marketplace -- Dockery was going to get around what he is being paid from any number of suitors. Sure, Steinbach would have been a much better addition, but he wasn't coming to Buffalo. If you want to talk about cuts, you really need to look at the other side of the ball, directly at our putrid defensive ends. All three in the top of the rotation are grossly overpaid and consistently underperform. The top one is over the hill and breaking down. Sure, Dock isn't a prototype guard. He commits too many false starts. He holds occasionally. But the guy is remarkably durable, starting 77 out of 80 games and is productive, especially paired with a good LT, as he was is Washington with Samuels and with Peters his first year. But Peters is a malcontent now, and playing like one. The rest of the line is quite pathetic, especially center, who ostensibly is supposed to lead the unit. My advice: Think, then type, not vice versa.... -
Man it just sucks to have Ralph as an owner right now,
Zulu Cthulhu replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are insane. Can you point to one instance in Ralph's history that even remotely suggests he would be willing to offer Cowher the amount of money required to coax him out of retirement one year early? Can you see the old codger giving Cowher total autonomy, just one year after promoting his gaggle of sycophants to VPs so they could attempt to mind-meld into a functional general manager? Quit wasting all of our air. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Zulu Cthulhu replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmm....in the very same post, you point out JP's total lack of touch on any of his passes, then proceed to attack Marshawn for his dropped Losman passes yesterday. Nevermind the fact that Lynch (and Fred) played their hearts out yesterday - running hard all day. (I see you also omitted giving credit to Lynch for that.) Maybe you are just sore we didn't use Lynch's pick on an offensive lineman. Stay classy ol' timer -

I know that "marketing executives" is slang terminology for people that started out as real businessmen (as you say) and couldn't hack it. -
Bills flaws starting to show
Zulu Cthulhu replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As usual PTR you are right on target. I can live with most of our team's flaws right now; I think they will eventually be corrected. But week after week of watching Jason Peters get burnt (i.e. see safety today) is really starting to grind my gears...especially after the garbage he pulled this year.
