UPDATED: Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos
Zulu Cthulhu replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. Maybe some can take issue with the unnamed player's response to Tebow; I don't, but sure it was vulgar. But that wasn't the entrance exam to etiquette school. It was a test for football players. Players that have spent countless hours in locker rooms and playing fields. Have any of you prudes that take offense to this so-called "thug's" reply ever played a team sport and spent time in a locker room? Well, I have. A lot of time. That's how most coaches and players talk. Shocking, I know. Tebow can try (and I'm sure he will) to proselytize to his pro teammates, anoint his future hometown fans with holy oil, baptize the refs before the game with water from the Gatorade jug, whatever. I know that is part of his so-called "mission." But the chosen one better get used to the flak he'll take outside of his cloister in Gainsville. Many people don't take kindly being preached to by a 22 year old football player. -

Who exactly are we talking about here? Was Mike Vick, Travis Henry, or Marshawn Lynch in Tebow's test group? I don't think so. Or does the fact that the player in the test group used *gasp* a naughty word and some others laughed automatically induct them into this amorphous group of "thugs" you speak of? My, my, sounds like pre-judgment to me and not a very Christian thing to do. -

If by awesome you mean obnoxious coddled man-child, I completely agree. I have a feeling the player used the f word because that's how grown-ups talk when under stress, trying to concentrate on an important task before them, and is interrupted by some jagoff attempting to summon divine help out loud for everyone to hear. I went to a Christian school and they did tell us about something called "silent prayer". Someone should send Tebow a memo. Maybe you, little one? -

After the test, Tebow used his direct line to Jesus and personally condemned all those who scorned him to an eternity in hell. -

why don't the bills do what they should have done last year
Zulu Cthulhu replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Many guys look great in exhibition against sub-par talent in games that don't matter. For the one or two successes to come out of Europa at QB, there are literally dozens if not hundreds of guys that couldn't crack a roster in the big leagues. There is a reason some stay 3rd string/practice squad their entire careers: they just aren't good enough to leapfrog the guys ahead of them. I don't mean to pile on the guy - he seems nice enough. But many of you on here have taken the obsession with Hamdan to absurd levels. I know you are all mesmerized by his swarthy good looks but I think it's time to let it go. -
Pretty tame "dis" if you ask me, especially by his standards.

Does the move to the 3-4
Zulu Cthulhu replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please don't rain on the retard parade...overreaction and dismissal of the kid's entire career after his rookie year is par for the course around here. One of the youngest rookies in the game by the way. -
All teams go through injuries to key players every year (to varying degrees). The good teams overcome them and make the playoffs; the mediocre ones go 8-8. Part of being a great player is being durable. If you put Andre Johnson and Steve Smith in front of me, for instance, I will take AJ 100% of the time. Not because Smith isn't as supremely talented as Johnson (because he is), but because AJ hardly ever misses a game. Fluke injuries (i.e. Poz's arm, Wood's leg) aside, the Bills suffer a boatload of injuries every year because most players on the Bills suck. The best strength and conditioning in the world won't help this bunch. While conditioning is important, of course, football injuries (at least most I've seen in person and on TV) are caused by bad technique/laziness. Most on the Bills suck, add on top bad coaching, that = f**k-load of injuries every year. Draft a better squad + hire worth-a-**** coaches = less injuries next year.

AND the Lord said: "Lo, I shall bring comfort to the suffering; and the village of Jackson did bring peace to the land, for the Chosen One was doth drafted in the 1st round, and the people rejoiced: 'All hail the mighty Tebow, for he has saved our NFL franchise from oblivion!'" -

I don't think Jimbo was suggesting Tebow was the complete solution at all...just throwing his hat in the ring for the kid. Kelly isn't a GM and he never claimed to be. So don't be hatin'.

Trade Lynch and Parrish for McFadden
Zulu Cthulhu replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right. Has Darren McFadden shown any ability to stay healthy? A compliment to Fred Jackson? Do you think Jackson is going to be our franchise back for the next several years? He's going to be 29 in a couple months and will be productive for 2, maybe 3 more seasons tops. Lynch seems much more durable than D Mac and no, I don't think Davis will trade away a 1st round investment after only 2 years. -
Revenue sharing is history in the NFL
Zulu Cthulhu replied to sullim4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First, only the supplemental revenue sharing was voted down by ownership, the main pot of TV money is still there to be split up. Second, the NFLPA is fighting this move anyways, so there is no guarantee that it will even come about. -
The Toronto Argos may move out of Skydome
Zulu Cthulhu replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All the above posters have it exactly right. Haven't been to any of the Bills games up there yet, but did go to the International Bowl that UB-UConn played in back in January. It was like a library in that place. Doesn't matter if Argos stay put or not, Toronto has no chance without building a NFL caliber stadium. -
Not sure what that is supposed to mean, considering Florida is on TV every single week. I didn't go to a rival SEC school so I don't have a vendetta against the guy or anything, so you can spout his (admittedly) gaudy stats at me all you want. I can turn around and give you similar stats on a number of college QBs the past 5 years or so that never sniffed an NFL field during a regular season game. You bring up Florida's championships as if Tebow won them all by himself, ignoring the fact that UF is a recruiting powerhouse and have stud players at every position. Obviously you are geographically closer to Gainsville and a fan of Tebow and UF, so defending the chosen one is a given. But don't let being a shameless homer cloud your judgment.
-
I know the guy has legions of supporters, but actually you CAN argue about Tebow's impact, at least as to the point on how he can translate to the NFL. Tebow didn't reinvent anything in college; his success can be primarily attributed to the can't-lose circumstances he fell into at his powerhouse school, as well as the way Meyer elected to use him. Sure, on occasion Tebow has made impressive throws and led his team back to victory on the rare occasions that Florida found themselves behind. But Tebow has, for the most part, been nothing more than a tank-like lumberer scoring 2 yard TDs every week. None of Tebow's traits gets me excited about watching him in the NFL. He has Jamarcus Russell accuracy. He has a molasses delivery speed. Sure his arm is strong enough, but, as with Russell, that's not enough to wet anyone's panties in the NFL. Even his strong point, rushing with the ball, concerns me since he runs with a high pad level that will get his bean snapped by some linebacker by week 3 of his rookie year. I know Tebow's supposed to be different and the fact that Jimbo likes him is encouraging, but the NFL ranks are riddled with stud college QB's that did nothing in the pros (i.e. Russell, Hartley, Leinart, etc. hell, we even have one on our roster right now.)

Really, the last few years? From what I remember (because I read things) Coughlin has been around the block in places like Jacksonville for a while before winning one with the Giants in '08. Dungy around for a while in Tampa Bay before winning with the Colts, wasn't he? Tomlin doesn't count because the Rooneys picked him, and they're the smartest owners in football by far. Even so, Blade's predecessor in Pitt was snapping his carrot around for several years before winning one in Steel City, so methinks your statement holds very little water. OTOH, it could hold gallons of horses**t.
-
Well yeah I read him - I have to know where all the good and bad coffee shops are all over the country and I gotta know what kind of latte he's pouring down his fat gullet.

Pretty much everything he says, writes, and does makes him a dick.

(7-9 x 3) AND 'TO' and still 'no respect ' around the
Zulu Cthulhu replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well the "pop warner offense" comment was made by a former coach within the organization about the head coach, not from an outside critic or speculator. So that one does lend some legitimacy to all the doom and gloom, considering it supports what many others have said about Jauron in the past: "unimaginative", "bad gameday coach" and so on... -

I have been a member for some years...a reader for longer than that, but I have seen the usual influx of idiots the past two months or so, spewing the same tired hate they always have. That being said, the events of the the past week have me, the eternal optimist, just a bit worried as well...
