550 Schopp Being his self, Bulldog being a yes man & JP...
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I said that they are very subtle in their jabs and comments against Losman. They then commented on how callers are blaming Schonert for bad playcalling, which no one does with TE in there. Just hung up another caller (female) saying the line was terrible and then ending it with comment that we are still making excuses for Losman in year 5. Hasn't Edwards fumbled twice this year, sacked 4 X's vs. St. Louis? I agree that TE is the starer, just pointing out that he has had bad runs too, and I have yet to see 4 good quarters by the Bills. -
Again being blamed for the defensive meltdown..... Always people saying that JP did not give them a ball control offense, so it is his fault the defense played bad. Sheesh the QB is to fault for throwing an 87 yard TD and not giving the D time to rest. After the first 2 drives, where they were scared to allow Losman to throw, they scored on the next 2. Then after getting to the Arizona 30 the first drive of the 3rd, they run 3 times. I don't get it as far as the offense goes. Their playcalling was bad and the line play was pathetic. Did Losman roll out once? The fumble on the handoff to Lynch had a defensive player who was in the backfield as soon as the ball was snapped. What about shotgun formation if you are worried about Losman processing plays. They seldom were in it. I will not talk about the defense which was pathetic. Add to that Schopp continues to make snide backhanded comments deriding Losman and what little to expect from a backup and the Bulldog saying absolutely nothing and never ever challenging Schopp on anything. I can't believe how much I dislike Schopp....

I live in Toronto and am a Bills fan. Happy they are playing here and you better get used to it and quit the whining..... Today on The Reporters (ESPN) in parting shots John Saunders went on about the Bills, their record, much improved Run Defense, emergence of Trent and the chance to be 5-0 prior to the Bye Week. Of course all the good that was said of course will be forgotten by you Buffalonians (and Toronto haters) when he tongue in cheek called the Bills Canada's Team because of their Toronto games. Enjoy some national attention (I am) and quit griping about the Toronto games (especially lousy pre-season and losing a cold weather December game).

Actually there were huge gaps where the offense was sputtering and doing nothing. Anyone remember the first quarter vs. Seattle? How about almost nothing after the opening drive 'til the fourth quarter vs. Jacksonville. How about 7 points (on a 23 yard drive) vs. a bad Oakland team 'til the 4th quarter. Very excited about the team, but they are not perfect yet....

What was the explanation for that simultaneous possession?
AnthonyF replied to Mickey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not what I saw. Evans had possession, was down by contact and the ball wrestled from him. Three in the booth saw it the same way. When will the NFL stop letting the Ump make the call and go to the NHL type replay and have an impartial committee at league headquarters make the call, so the Ump does not have to overturn one of his crew? -
And last week we were hearing that Pittsburgh is back and the pick to go to the Superbowl..... Philadelphia laid a beat down on them. It's a long season.

Was the reffing as bad as I thought......
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes it showed the whole play. It was ticky tack at best. Was not a call that had to be made. The int Evans had, was down and everyone in the booth thought it should be overturned. Not huge, but those two calls were key calls. -
or am I a homer??? Bad call on the interception, ticky tack offensive pass interference and not a single penalt of consequence against Oakland (holding....). I saw a few holds I thought... Not a single "hometown" call to boot....

As exciting as the start is, I want to see more offence....
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was just watching the ease that some teams move the ball and that while we had a great first drive, we bogged down a while after that, were tentative around the goal line on our first fg and then indifferent until we needed the TD to win. I am very positive on this team, just would love to see the Bills not play the let's shorten the game, with long drives and eating the clock. When it works, it is great, I'd just like to know that this team can score 30 points on O. I think at home vs. Oakland, I'd like to see confidence in the offense. Piddling, but just my opinion. -
Watching the Dallas/Philadelphia game, you can see the explosive offense and all the weapons. Add to that Denver, SD, NYG, Arizona..... Want to see the Bills offense open up a bit. Yes they can not compete in a track meet, but I am consistently amazed that fans are excited after years of being beat down with 17 offensive points and 300 yards offense. However the Bills at least have thrown over 200 yards each of the first 2 games.....

I wanted to show my son the hit and found this link..... http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer..._type=&aq=f As for my post yesterday...... I feel bad for Brady, and it was not meant to be a derogatory or uncaring comment aimed at his injury, but there is something about Belichek and the way some Pat's conduct themselves that makes you just want to see them get their commupance (sp), though I wanted to see them go 19-0 last year by the Superbowl. And yes I understand the meaning of the word Karma..... Let's not debate that....

[closed]Toronto Fans view of the Miami Game...... and GR550
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea.... One look at the Leafs and they realized how easy it would be to sell the Dolphins' game to us..... -
I listened to those boobs try and fan the flames and I had to turn it off..... Actually I turned it on to listen to Rome, but they were on @ 2:00.... What a joke..... Here in Toronto we will pay inflated prices to see a 1-15 team, who still look terrible for 2008.... Outside SF, I'd rather have seen anyone else and then I hear all the complaints. As someone in Buffalo, you get SF a team you get to see only once every 6 years..... Why would you want to lose an inter conference game? I have been to Buffalo for at least 4 Miami games over the years (and usually 1-2 games per year) and this is when the games used to matter and yes they were fun, but as someone from Toronto, if I really cared, I'd be complaining bitterly that the NFL take us to be stoopid boobs, who are going to be duped into thinking we are seeing the late 80's-90's Bills-Dolphin teams and the rivalry. What a terrible game we got........ Then WG takes it further and still are upset at losing the second pre-season game vs. Pitt.....

San Diego has a ZERO chance at making the bowl....
AnthonyF replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is the one point that can not be overlooked. The Jets game 2 years ago he handed the game to them. Any coach who basically doesn't try to improve field position at the 25 yard line expecting a rookie kicker to make the field goal, expect to lose. Much like Cincinnati this weekend vs. Pitt. A week after missing an extra point and losing, they too did not try to improve their field position and their kicker missed it (probably good if 5 yards closer). -
First Half Stats for RJ..... 2 fumbles, 5 sacks & a safety.... Oh yea 30 yards passing..... and a more then competent QB who started 15 games with some success on the sidelines. Those games do not compare at all. RJ should have been out midway through the second quarter at the latest. There was plenty of blame to go around the Miami game (defense, Moulds' fumble, Flutie...). Prior to Homerun Throwback RJ was solely to blame for the lack of production...... I go back to this over and over as it set in motion some of the problems the ensuing 6 years.... RJ named starter and again stinking and getting injured. GW & TD choosing RJ over DF and then not preparing by grooming a backup (like SD did with a qb by the name of Brees) and eventually giving up on RJ getting Bledsoe who just did enough to get us nowhere..... That is why this has festered so many years and only now do we see a glimmer of hope.....
-
I was pointing out the major fumble on the last play of the game.... I know he was inconsistant that day and he made mistakes. However for anyone to bring it up and try and compare to the RJ debacle in Tennessee is laughable.... Sorry to return to the subject but as the post states it still bothers me the Tennessee game. How many of you still are upset at "Wide Right" or "No Goal"?
-
Point of the Post..... I do hold a grudge that dates back to 2000 and until this year it festered with my view of the Bills, thanks to GW, TD, Bledsoe and the whole 1999 debacle....
-
As said I hold a grudge.... Read the article and it is nothing but a fluff piece defending the 31st ranked defensive coordinator. As for TD and his self-serving comments, heard them before. How about hiring an image consultant GW (a job I think more and more suits me when I hear players and coaches answer questions) and say to the Buffalo News or whoever is listening that "I did not drink that evening as I was with a number of very excited Bills fan and we spent 3 hours discussing Buffalo, the team and the future and am incredibly lucky to have this opportunity in a football mad town to coach a team with a great history and a number of pieces going forward". Boy that would have been tough, as opposed to his position, which was to deride the media, fans and thumb his nose at the city and the fans...... How many teams are interested in hiring the coordinator of the 31st ranked defense to be Head Coach when they would have to pay him top 10 money (he's earning about $2,500,000 I think)? Are these the same teams waiting to call Art Shell if he is fired by Oakland?
-
Oh I forgot that one where he threw for 350 yards and lost on a fumble at the 3 yard line.... How about Moulds being caught from behind on what should have been an 80 yard TD and fumbling the first or secod play of the game. I forget, refresh my memory, didn't the defense play their greatest game that day (much like the Tennessee playoff game) ??? Yup it was all Fluties fault.....
-
What Plays???? I remember one pass for 30+ yards in the second half and the drive that set up the go ahead field goal was only about 35-40 yards had one scramble and probably 2 completions for 15 yards. I love that revisionist history..... The defense and Flutie easily would have carried the game, that i am convinced about....
-
Just what balls???? Getting up after every sack and fumble???? He was completely lost the first half, bailed out by a defense that played as good a game as I've ever seen. The second half he made 2-3 decent passes and was supported by some long runs, that was all..... With Flutie we win by 10 easy that game and that is because the defense was so good, not Flutie.....
-
I admit I have held some long grudges since 2000 concerning the Bills. The RJ/Flutie debacle that resulted in Homerun Throwback still bothers me to no end. RJ's first half against Tennessee was as bad a half of football as I have ever seen and his second half was only marginally better. Then I had to listen to Greg Williams (GW) explain the most exhaustive review in sports history that resulted in the choice to keep RJ over Flutie and we saw how well that worked out. Then there was 3 years of GW and bad coaching and decision making on the sideline explained away by him as to how much smarter he was then us and never made a mistake and really we were just uninformed fans. On a lesser scale Drew Bledsoe and the heartache he provided always close but never really the answer. So GW becomes the highest paid DC in the league and is heralded as really just an unfortunate victim in Buffalo and deserving a HC job. Oh how much I loved watching his defence crumble this year and he getting much (some) of the blame. Then there was Bledsoe signing with Dallas and I worried he'd succeed and we'd be laughed at for our knee jerk reaction in choosing JP over DB. So am I being petty when I say 2006 did not turn out too bad in those counts????
