WHOA Trent PWNED Brady - check it out
AnthonyF replied to SouthGeorgiaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And TE had the ball at the 40, with 37 seconds left and a timeout and threw one incompletion and was sacked twice, when he had a chance to win the game. That is what I saw along with a whopping 170 yards in passing 'til that last drive. Sure he played ok, but can we leave it at that. -
Would you have used the timeouts with 2 minutes left???
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I checked and the 10 year result was 25%.... Incredible how difficult it is to find the stat online. Point is with 2:00 minutes to go you have to try and give your team the opportunity for 2 possessions (recover or a 3 and out). There was 2:06 remaining, thus if unsuccessful, there still would have been the 2 minute warning and 2 timeouts to use and if they stopped the Bills they would have gotten the ball back with a timeout. Belichek made the wrong decision, yet got the right result in any case. -
Would you have used the timeouts with 2 minutes left???

How about answering the question. The ball was at the 29 yard line and there were 2 minutes left. Watching the seconds tick away, knowing if NE scores we have less and less time to come back is a loser mentality. Once they got the first down and are inside the 20, use the timeouts. If NE scores we need time on the clock. If they don't, the game is over in any case. An aside is how obnoxious, smug and so cocky Belichek was? 2:00 minutes left, down 5 and he kicks deep, knowing they have 3 timeouts and convinced there is no way Buffalo will get a first down. The success rate for on-side kicks is 25%. The smart money is you try the on-side kick and if it does not work you use the 3 timeouts. -
New England got the ball at the 29 with 2 minutes left and 3 timeouts. The game like it or not was going to be decided then and there. Yes I wanted us to stop them, but should they have scored I wanted it as quick as possible so we get a chance with the ball again and time on the clock. So do we use the timeouts earlier (and give the defense a break or discuss the defense) so we have 1:30 or just let NE use the clock like they did? Point was, the Bills were actually lucky that they still had 51 seconds and a chance for a field goal....

WHOA Trent PWNED Brady - check it out
AnthonyF replied to SouthGeorgiaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Yards After Catch post has been used many times in assessing Trent's play. People have used the argument that he throws too many passes behind the line of scrimmage and it is not his throws that are successful, but the play calling and the gain after the catch. Point is, this too often is the case with TE. Until the last drive he was at 169 yards and as a football fan, I can not be excited by a qb or offensive scheme that constantly throws for under 200 yards on average. He completed a nice 19 yarder to Owens, they had the ball at their 40 with 37 seconds to go and a timeout and imploded, with TE looking lost and getting sacked twice. The last 23 yard play meant nothing. -
Has no one talked about those 2 sacks and timeouts in the last 45 seconds? They were at the 40 yard line with 37 seconds to go and were inept.... That is what drove me nuts.... Yes I was surprised at the McKelvin fumble, but expected NE to score. Why do you not call timeouts and have your defense set, and save time that you may need. No matter what NE needed to score that possession to win. As the D, they needed to be organized. Why do all coaches let the clock go, especially when NE had 3 timeouts. Notice how they wanted to clock to run and were in no hurry to score. I think NE was worried they scored too quick.
-
What is wrong with our 2-minute offense? Isn't that what the no huddle essentially is? TE completes a 20 yarder to TO, at the 40 and ridiculously calls a timeout. There should have been at least 2 plays called in the huddle, and the Bills catch NE off guard and don't allow them to line up and pin their ears back to go after Edwards. Easily had time after the TO catch to run a play in 5 seconds and keep the timeout. Instead TE get's sacked 2 straight plays. Pathetic all around. Also when NE recovers with 2:00 minutes, I use the timeouts, knowing NE has 3 anyways and if they score the Bills want time on the clock. The best thing that happened (expecting them to score) was that there were still 51 seconds left. Explain how coaching can not be blamed???

2009 Schedule is a killer.... 7-9 will be tough...
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see one of those "what ifs".... Sure there are plenty of questions, but the point is Jax is one year removed from a year they made the divisional semis and played NE tough. TB made the playoffs in 2007, melted down to end this year. Simply we need to play better vs. Jets & Miami, but the issue for me will be the offence thast can not and will not win a track meet unless there is divine intervention. Eyeballing it it looks like a very tough schedule. 7-9 would be a great result with the ineptitude of this coaching staff.... -
2009 Schedule is a killer.... 7-9 will be tough...
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course John Fox Carolina would be the #1 seed in the NFC if he did not pull a Dick Jauron vs. NYG, when he decided that his kicker can hit a 48 yarder at the end of the game vs. trying to get a first down (ran to center the ball vs. try and throw for a first down). So see Jauron has company as far as boneheaded plays go..... -
2009 Schedule is a killer.... 7-9 will be tough...
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have a tough schedule plain and simple..... Doesn't mean we can't do well, but we have out of division foes who went 13-3, 12-4, 12-4 and 11-5 to start. Winning teams on top include TB, NO. This years schedule was easy at first look. Other thing to note is that to win many of these games we will need to score points, something we seem to not like to do. Tough schedule for 2009 plain and simple. -
Home - Houston, Indy, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, NE, NYJ, Miami Away - Jacksonville, Tennessee, Atlanta, Carolina, Kansas City, NE, NYJ, Miami Best chance to win vs. Cleveland and KC.... Playoff Teams we are against Tennessee, Carolina, Atlanta, Indy, Miami. Teams on cusp Tampa, New Orleans, NYJ New England. Jacksonville could be much improved and Houston ended the season looking like a team. Incredible how after the 6 division games & the 4 NFC games, we play for the second straight year KC, Jax & Cleve.... Looks like a very tough schedule.... Maybe Bills kept him around because they signed him earlier and 2009 would be tough on a new coach.

Jauron outcoached by a show-off jerk
AnthonyF replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely right. It was no more then showing off. If they did not convert on 3rd down the same kick would have resulted on 4th down. The difference is our play calling and game management is so bad, that we have no idea what constitutes really good play calls. When we have the wind, we should be hurrying the offense and maximizing our opportunities, which we did not do. Our botched play at the end of the first half was the result of lethargic ball movement. When we got the ball there was 4:16 left in the half. At the 2 minute warning we were at the NE 37..... We went 25 yards to the 12 in 5 plays and stopped the clock twice. A turtle or a sloth moves faster then that. We got the ball twice with the wind in the second quarter and were inept. Same in the third.... Belichek uses time outs to take advantage of the wind,we use up play clock. They go for it on 4th and we can't contain the QB or allow simple hitches/screens/3yard slants. Did Jauron not notice that? Also Edwards threw a # of good passes with the wind at his back, which again DJ did not make a note of. But please don't call the quick kick brilliant.... It was not. -
Trent Edwards.... Verdict on Denver game????
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Boy that is setting the bar low.... I must ask are you so blind as to think all that matters is winning and that translates to entertainment???? -
Trent Edwards.... Verdict on Denver game????
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep.... If we went 11-5 scoring 10 points a game, you'd be right, I wouldn't be entertained or enjoy it. Sorry that sports=entertainment for me..... -
Trent Edwards.... Verdict on Denver game????
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And all those 40 yard runs we have???? Actually a pass does.... Total yardage too is a nice benchmark and the Bills don't stack up well there either..... I like passing offenses.... -
Trent Edwards.... Verdict on Denver game????
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh yea I forgot we are 11-4 and going to the playoffs!!!!! We have a 7-8 record and are 0-5 in the division and even if we beat NE Sunday miss the Playoffs by 3 games.... 300 yards vs. SF, Miami, Cleveland and the Jets and we are in the playoffs.... Let's use 250 as the benchmark if you wish..... Edwards has 4 this year and we have as many have pointed out been trailing the majority of games. You chose QB's on teams that have winning records and have led the majority of games. When we are 11-4 then you are welcome to throw those stats at me. Sorry to tell you I enjoy passing offenses and like to see gaudy numbers..... Does that make me shallow or a non-football fan???? Boy being entertained is a terrible thing..... -
Trent Edwards.... Verdict on Denver game????
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point was the stupidity of the claim that 300 yard games only are a result of playing catch up.... 300 is a benchmark and Edwards has not done it once yet, whether leading or trailing in a game..... Frankly that is a long time in terms of games played not to have a 300 yard game. Remember this post was frankly directed at those who tell us that Edwards has "it"... I really want to see that break out game where he plays 4 quarters of good football..... That too is an issue I have with him. He has not put together 4 quarters of good football for more then 2 games his entire career (SD and NYJ in 2007 the only exceptions). -
Trent Edwards.... Verdict on Denver game????
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very good points and one I'm not sure I know the answer for. I do think Evans is a #1 receiver, just we don't do a good job isolating him on offense. This is where I wonder if it is Edwards or the OC. I don't like the lack of screens, slants and quick hitters. New Orleans has very so so receivers too and Brees could break the single season record. The Bills schedule this year was ripe for a number of huge games that never materialized. Even so-called tough games were against D's that ended up at the bottom of the league and the stats were terrible. We got the majority of our pass yards vs. Oakland in the 4th quarter, big chunks late too vs. Jax and SD. We should have had 300 vs. Cleveland, SF, Miami..... -
Trent Edwards.... Verdict on Denver game????
AnthonyF replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just laugh knowing your responses before I even post. I do hope one or two understand the post and the comments. Edwards threw for 190 yards (65 on one pass). He looked much better, but still whether it is Edwards or the team, I am very unhappy with how this offense is run. 300 Yards is a benchmark and not a unheard of expectation. All good QB's do it multiple times every year. We have not had a 300 yard game for over 2 years.... That is not a good stat. Eli Manning who people have posted about, had 6 starts year 1..... Year 2, 11 games he threw for over 200 yards and 3 over 300.... That is a fair comparison. Trent stands at 0 over his career..... I expect more and seeing the opposition we had this year am disappointed with the results. Take the blinders off guys.... BTW Merry Xmas.... -
I have not read or searched all the posts, but thought I'd give my thoughts on Sunday's game vs Denver. Again one of the worst defenses and we again basically sleep walk through the first half. TE looked good from late in the second quarter and loved the win (especially because I want to see SD win the division). But why oh why is the offense so bad overall. Against some of the worst defenses this year we have struggled or put up mediocre #'s at best. Do people think this is okay? Saw a lot good from Edwards Sunday, but again where is that 300 yard game? Any other team not throw for 300 this year (probably Raiders and the Titans is the only team I can think of)?

It was a game changer..... 10-7, not 10-3.... At least 2 other times in the red zone, where a FG would have tied the game... This was an important play at a crucial time. Not crying over spilled milk, just pointing out a turning point that has been basically ignored/overlooked. 7-5 or 8-4 (Cleveland & SF games) vs. 6-6, and regardless of how indifferent the Bills are playing and this would be quite a different week.
-
Was he not hit between the 1's???? TD and it is 10-7, we tie the game when we went for it on fourth & 2..... Just another example about how little things or 1 play turns a game completely around. Can throw out the terrible play calling, bad clock management and silly/atrocious penalties, if this one play was completed.
