  1. Just for that, da Bears D will punch the Bills in their stupid faces! BEAR DOWN!
  2. Except da Bears have been averaging 29 points per game...
  3. Something to consider when speaking of JP "loosening up a defense" or pressuring Grossman: JP Losman has been sacked 11 times so far this season. Rex Grossman has been sacked 3 times so far this season. The Buffalo Bills have recorded 11 sacks so far this season. Da Bears have recorded 15 sacks so far this season, 11 of them have been at Soldier Field. 14 of them have been made by the D's front four. I know, I know... Da Bears are playing against such weak opponents in the wimpy NFC while the Bills have been facing much stronger opponents in the oh-so-much-tougher AFC... We'll see this Sunday at Soldier Field. BEAR DOWN!!!
  4. Run up a score like that with DICK JAURON as Head Coach?!? We had him in Chicago for about 5 years. If he get's up by a FG, he'll try to just sit on that lead and burn the clock, hoping that his Defense will keep the other team from scoring at all...
  5. I'm willing to bet that I know at least as much as the Bills fans here who now think that da Bears are looking past the Bills this week. To what? The CARDINALS? Or maybe they're busy making vacation plans for the bye week after that... Have you looked at the NFC North at all this season? Out of four teams, THREE have new Head Coaches (therefore new gameplans), as well as wholesale turnovers on players. Given the way we dominated Green Bay and Detroit, who wouldn't expect the same against Minnesota? Detroit installed a Cover-2 Defense and we tore right thru it. It would have been reasonable to assume that we could have done the same to Minnesota's newly installed Cover-2 Defense as well. It generally takes time to learn how to execute a Cover-2 properly, as well as the right players to execute it. But you're right of course. Da Bears coaches would NEVER be stupid enough to look past the rebuilding Vikings to the next game against the current NFC Champs. But they would be stupid enough to overlook the Bills almost immediately after being shown by the Vikings that it's a mistake to look past your current opponent...
  6. Yeah, that...
  7. No, but Carolina won by only 8 points (21-29), not 26. We should have stopped at least 1 more TD with him in. But we made other mistakes too. Like resting all of our starters in the final regular season game. Lovie wanted to protect our starters from unnecessary risk of injury. Unfortuately, when combined with the first round bye, the starters didn't play a single down for over two weeks. They were "cold" and took too long in the playoff game to warm back up and get into their rhythmn. Also we let our Defensive Coordinator Ron Rivera to go out on Head Coach interviews instead of concentrating on getting ready for the playoff game. Finally I think that we assumed that because we beat Carolina 13-3 in the regular season with Orton, that we could easily repeat that feat with Grossman in at QB and no other changes...
  8. Maybe, but you'll find da Bears O-line a lot tougher to get thru than that Miami excuse for one. And Grossman doesn't stand there like a flat-footed bonehead (Culpepper)...
  9. The "Official" Bears Board? It's here. It's full of homers and trolls. And the mods tend to delete threads that question Bears management decisions. It's so frustrating that I started my own little board last month. The link is in my sig below... And I've seen the Vikings boards. The official Bears board is worse...
  10. Sorry guys, but this weekend isn't the "let-down" or "look-past" or "sure-win" game for Chicago this season. That already happened. Week 3 against the Vikings. We were so sure that a Minnesota team with a new HC and scheme, and an aging QB, that had gotten a couple of lucky wins against shaky opponents was a slam-dunk. Don't worry, it's in the bag. We just got a couple of HUGE wins against Division rivals, surely the Vikes would be the same. Besides, the BIG GAME, the one we really have to worry about is against Seattle the following week... So da Bears already got spanked for being arrogant/complacent and were lucky enough to salvage a win out of it. Sorry but Minnesota beat you to our wake-up call. We'll be ready to play the Bills this Sunday... BEAR DOWN!!!
  11. I understand the thinking and it is valid, so you gotta try it. I'm just saying that you shouldn't expect good results (like the Bengals got against Orton last year).
  12. That should be: MINI-Ditka 63 Bills 3 If it were regular Ditka: Ditka 112 Bills 3 Remember he had a heart attack or else he'd really run up the score...
  13. ESPN NFL First Quarter Poll Not just the usual Bears homers think that this year's team is good...
  14. BTW, if the AFC is the superior Conference , then why are AFC teams 5-6 against the NFC so far this season? That means that NFC teams are 6-5 against AFC teams...
  15. Well, this is Tony Dungy's SIXTH year as HC of the Colts, not his THIRD. And in Dungy's first year the Colts (2001) went 6-10. The first season a coach runs a team is spent changing personnel around and installing a playbook, you can't expect to win a lot of games. If you want to include Lovie's entire career as Head Coach, then include Dungy's as well. It's 106-58 (64.6%). So Lovie's close to Dungy again... The original point was about a STREAK - how a team plays over time. Da Bears current streak (all the 2005 regular season and the first four games of this season) is 19-5. Which is how da Bears are playing NOW.
  16. That record was with a raw unprepared rookie QB (Kyle Orton) under center. So it was basically all done with Defense. This season we have an Offense that is at least adequate - big improvement over last season. So with that same Defense we become much more competitive. The one win against the AFC was Baltimore, who are 4-0 this year and the pride of the AFC. We "caught Carolina at a bad time?" What about Tampa? Or Atlanta? The NFC South was tough last season and we swept them. But it doesn't really matter does it. No matter what I bring up, it'll be that da Bears only look good because they play in the weak NFC North or they're in the weaker conference or yaddayaddayadda... But we're scheduled to play the entire AFC East this season. I suppose if we wind up sweeping your division, it'll be because the Bills are rebuilding, Miami and the Jets are just no good anyway and we caught New England when Brady was having a bad hair day... And you guys B word about the Bills not getting any respect...
  17. All of our opponents this season have seen Grossman as a virtual "rookie QB" and so have all tried to pressure him into making "rookie QB" mistakes. But he's only thrown 3 INTs so far this season and only been sacked 3 times. Our front four are pretty good at keeping the pressure off of Rex. Last year at this same point in the season our true "rookie QB" (Kyle Orton) had thrown 6 INTs and been sacked 9 times. We were 1-3 at that point as well...
  18. At Lambeau Field? Against our fiercest rival? Against Brett Farve who has made a career out of making Chicago look stupid? Yeah, for a Chicago QB that is a great game. Really not enough data, statistically speaking, to truly determine that. Besides, if you toss out a QB's "best" game then you should also toss out his "worst" game, since both are anomolies. But I get your point. So you don't consider passer ratings around 100 or better to be indicative of a QB having a "great" game? What is your criteria then? And the past 2 years under Lovie Smith da Bears are 19-5 in the regular season. That works out to a winning percentage of 79.2%. And that is knocking on the door of the Colts with their 80.8% winning percentage over the past 3 years...
  19. The "Official" Chicago Bears Board is crawling with homers and trolls. I've stopped going there. In fact, I've started my own little fan board (see my sig). I see the Bills have and "Official" Board as well- Bills Backers. Yet you guys are here. Why? Could it be for the same reason I don't go to the official Bears board?
  20. Everybody remembers the playoff game da Bears lost against Carolina 21-29 but they forget that a month or so earlier da Bears beat the Panthers 13-3 in the regular season. What was the crucial difference? In the playoff game our Strong Safety Mike Brown was out with an injury. He's the vet that calls out all of the alignment changes in the Secondary. Without him back there, Steve Smith was able to do what he wanted. But don't worry, Mike Brown is very healthy now and will be playing this Sunday...
  21. I'm not saying Rex is a lock for the HOF either. In fact, I am still a huge supporter of Kyle Orton (the rookie QB we won with last year). But Grossman's stats are nothing special? For this season he's 78 of 125 (62.4%) for 1061 yards. If he keeps up this pace, he'll throw for over 4,000 yards this season. He's got 8 TDs and only 3 INTs. That gives him a QB rating so far this season of 136.9. He's #5 in the NFL for both passer rating and yards passing. His per game stats are: Green Bay: 18 of 26 (69.2%) for 262 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, Passer rating = 98.6 Detroit: 20 of 27 (74.1%) for 289 yds, 4 TDs, 0 INT, Passer rating = 148.0 Minnesota: 23 of 41 (56.1%) for 278 yds, 1 TD, 2 INTs, Passer rating = 64.9 Seattle: 17 of 31 (54.8%) for 232 yds, 2 TDs, 0 INT, Passer rating = 136.9 Truth is, Grossman had 1 so-so game against a pretty-good team (Minnesota), 2 great games against bad teams (Green Bay & Detroit) and a great game against a very good team (Seattle). Grossman's beating out a lot of respected QBs performance-wise so far this season. I don't understand why everyone is qualifying Chicago's decisive victory over Seattle by saying that they played without Alexander. The final score was 37-6. Alexander doesn't play Defense, so he's not an excuse for Grossman getting a passer rating of 136.9 in that game and the Chicago Offense scoring 37 points. Besides, Shaun Alexander has only averaged 62.3 yds rushing in the first 3 games this season. He's had 2 TDs in three games (0.67 TDs per game). Against the Giants the week before Seattle had 5 passing TDs and 1 rushing TD. This season they're using the pass to score. So at most, he would have been good for 1 TD if he'd played against da Bears, making the score 37-13. Still an ass-kicking of the defending NFC Champs.
  22. Yeah, that was because Grossman kept getting hurt. Unfortunate accidents kept him from playing consistently and developing. But this season he is developing. He may not be Tom Brady or Ben Roethlisberger or either one of the Mannings, but he is the best QB that the Bears have seen in at least a decade. He raises our Offense to #8 in the NFL. Last year with a #29 Offense and #1 Defense we went 11-5 (including 8 straight wins - with a complete sweep of the NFC South) and #2 seed in the NFC. We have the same #1 Defense (in fewest points allowed) and a #4 Offense (in points scored) to complement it now. I don't think that we'll be going unbeaten or are a lock for the Super Bowl, but I do think that we're good for at least 13-3, maybe #1 seed in the NFC with a 1st round bye and definitely going deep into the playoffs this time. But I do believe that the Bills will give us a much closer Vikings-type game this Sunday. But Home Field Advantage will definitely tip it to da Bears... BEARS 21 Bills 13
  23. You mean the geniuses that hired Dick in the first place? But the McCaskeys had nothing to do with Jauron's 1-4 record @ Detroit...
  24. "Unceremoniously dumped?" Like he deserved to keep his job? Look at his record @ Chicago: 1999 6-10 2000 5-11 2001 13-3 plus a playoff loss 2002 4-12 2003 7-9 That's a record of 35-46 (43%). He had one fluke winning season in 2001, that's it. Why Buffalo took him on as HC with his poor performance is beyond me. I'm glad that da Bears have finally gotten the stench of Wannstedt and Jauron off of themselves...
  25. "Who would win, Ditka vs. a Hurricane?" "Ditka." "What if it was called Hurricane Ditka?"
