The last helmet that he presented failed the safety test. (As you noted.) This was a discontinued model that he never wore. The helmet that he always wore didn't pass the test as did this helmet that he recently came up with. He is trying to come up with a technicality to use a model that doesn't pass the safety test. I don't see the league or an arbitrator altering their position. It must be noted that the equipment safety standards were made jointly between the league and the union. https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Antonio-Brown-files-second-grievance-against-NFL-14362462.php?ipid=newsrecirc

For some people grit and grime are off-putting. For people of the street it is called a comforting ambiance.

If a writer who has a history of being negative covering long term dismal franchises expresses some optimism then that should be a good sign that the fortunes of the football team have changed. It's easy to find gushing homers that everything is beautiful and just fine. You don't take notice when those co-opted observers spout the company line. But when someone who has a history of having an overly critical eye exhibits a positive view why wouldn't you be ecstatic for that optimism instead of critical of the writer? Sully has been critical of Wilson. He deserved the criticism. And Sully has been critical of how the new owner/s first operated. They deserved the criticism. Now when they have made the right decisions regarding their hires and how they have run the operation he has seemed to give them credit for where they have positioned this franchise. So why be critical of the writer when he is belatedly being optimistic?

If you are a pessimist when your team has been bad for a decade and longer then your pessimism is warranted. Or another way of saying it is that you are right with your negative commentary. The Sabres and the Bills have for a long time not only been bad but mismanaged. He often stated that obvious fact. Some people are uncomfortable with facing that reality. The owners have installed two competent regimes to run their franchises. Neither one went for the quick fix that would get them little beyond mediocrity. I'm optimistic about both franchises. (Although my hockey friends believe that I have a mental health issue.) Eventually, the hockey team will get it turned around and I will without malice sneer back at them.

What is weak link after game 2 of preseason?
JohnC replied to Orlando Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see any back used in a workhorse fashion. There is going to be a lot of rotation within the group and there will probably be a lot of swing passes thrown to them. If I had to make a prediction I would say that as the season advances Singletary's role will increase as a runner. Our OL is still in the reshuffling and formative stage but it is dramatically better than last year's unit. I'm optimistic that because so many of the players are so versatile that this line will be able to sustain some injuries and still respectably perform. -
Former Bills Roscoe Parrish Arrested (2 Felonies)

They just followed the numerous notes he left on the trail. The prosecutors should thank him for his consideration and dumbness when he gets convicted and sentenced. Prosecutors love easy cases. -
Top nine defenses for 2019 NFL season, Buffalo Bills #5
JohnC replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no problem with the way Frazier runs the defense. Both Frazier and the HC are in sync. If they weren't Frazier would not continue to coach the defense. As the roster gets better the defense will get better, especially with young players such as Edmunds and Milano emerging as very good players. McDermott's expertise is on defense. Happily, it shows. -

I don't believe that Beane was involved with the first draft when the Bills drafted White and Milano. Regardless, both McDermott and Beane seamlessly work as a tandem. That is a credit to both of them where the task at hand and not one's ego is the focus for both of them. -
Jimmy Spags Smack Talk Thread Week 1
JohnC replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spags won't be participating on this board any longer because he is too busy with his new romantic interest.. She is demanding and requires his full attention. If he doesn't comply with her demands and needs he gets an assss whipping. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=jersey+girl+snooki&qpvt=jersey+girl+snooki&FORM=IGRE -
Top nine defenses for 2019 NFL season, Buffalo Bills #5

In McDermott's first year at the helm he revamped the defensive backfield with a mid to lower first round draft pick to select White at CB, and picked up two mid-level free agent safeties in Hyde and Poyer. He was masterful in finding players to fit his scheme without breaking the bank. He also was able to use mid-level draft picks to add to the unit with the additions of Tauron Johnson and Sirean Neal. All these players not only played well as a unit but they were all good value picks. In addition, although Mat Milano is a LB he roams a lot in the defensive backfield playing as a hybrid LB/SB. In my estimation he is the best value player on the roster. Without question McDermott excels in building a defense. -
I got this link from the hockey side of TBD. It is a column by Travis Yost from a NHL site. It deals with Risto and his value as a player and a trade asset. The writer points out because of the team circumstances he was overused and played at a higher pairing than he should have been in. The conclusion that the writer makes is that there is a danger in overvaluing and keeping him for too long. My position is unless you get a big enough return (second line player) it is better to keep him and hope that the new coach will be wiser in putting him in a position to succeed. https://www.tsn.ca/ristolainen-has-been-miscast-on-sabres-blueline-1.1350067?view=getnewpost

It's interesting how much you disdain Alex. A lot of fans and even his contemporary players intensely disliked him. I'm sure his involvement with steroids was a factor but the bigger factor was that many people thought that his public persona was not authentic to those who knew him and wasn't reflective of his actual personality. Surprisingly, he has become more likeable now that he is involved in the games as a TV analyst. In my opinion he does an excellent job in not only analyzing the game but also doing it from a player perspective. He does a good job mixing in with the other two crew members. I'm very much surprised to how well he adapted to his media role.

You are analyzing the Yankees with you biased and jaundiced Met eyes. I agree with you that the Astros are the favored team to not only make the series but to win it. The Zienke deal solidified their position. But you have to hand it to the Yankees that after sustaining so many injuries this team still kept on winning. Be gracious and tip your hat to the other NY team. No matter how they do in the playoffs they will have had a successful season because they prevailed over so much adversity. Be gracious to the other Gotham team Mr. Gugny. It will make you a better man.

Sometimes out of resentment stepchildren go rogue and beat up the unappealing lumpy and bald guy who is now sleeping with their beloved mother. I'm not a Met fan but in the home series with the Nationals the stadium was nearly full of raucous fans for three consecutive nights for three consecutive great games. That's good for baseball and good for the NY rivalry.

They did recently turn it around and give their fans some hope not only for the present but also the future. When you have the surge that they did by winning 16 out 18 games (around that #) that isn't a mirage. It is a reality that their recently near capacity crowds appreciate. Winning is winning. Don't sneer at it. Let the neurotic fans like Gugny have a scintilla of hope. He deserves it for all the punishment he has absorbed following them.

Why would you want to sack the current Met coach? The Mets are the surprise team in the league that has made a dramatic and stunning turn around. They were mocked when they acquired Stroman because most experts felt that they should have been dealing off their better players to get prospects. In the recent series with the Nationals in front of pack houses they won the series in closely fought games. Why rock the boat when it has been stabilized?
