  1. When they are opposite of your takes I become supremely confident.
  2. During lent you are supposed to humble yourself. Even if you are insincere and lack authenticity for appearance sake you are required to fake your humbleness.
  3. Jesuit educated Canisius grads don't gloat. They just condescendingly sneer.
  4. You can fairly make the claim that EJ wasn't handled properly by the Bills. Without question he was rushed before he was ready. But as I previously stated the primary reason for his failure wasn't how he was handled. He simply wasn't good enough. He was a third or fourth round talent who was mistakenly drafted in the first round. This now veteran qb will not now be a starting qb for any team in this league, and will never be no matter how long his career is. He is what he is and will always be what he is i.e. a functional backup.
  5. As far as not getting a "do over" I respectfully disagree with you. Of course we get a "do over". If a draft pick doesn't work out, regardless of the position, you go back to the drawing board and try again. If a qb doesn't work out whether it is a drafted player or free agent pickup the appropriate response is not to be so skittish and frightened over the mistake that you become frozen. The better response is to become more determined to resolve the issue, not to delay and avoid the issue. With respect to the highlighted segment we finally have something to agree on. Mark this day on your calendar to note an infrequent occurrence.
  6. The biggest benefit of the Tyrod trade is that I won't be called a TT hater any longer. The accusers know who they are.
  7. It's an interesting scenario you lay out but I don't see it materializing. If Lamar is their favored qb then what you lay out makes a lot of sense. What I see happening is either the Browns use their first pick on their preferred qb (not Lamar) or draft Barkley and then with their next high pick get their qb or draft a premium player such as DE Chubb or DB Fitzpatrick. The Browns have a lot of options but from what I have heard from the reporters that cover the Browns is that they want to stay high in the draft. Even with the deal with Buffalo they still have plenty of picks and cap space to acquire more players. If the Jets like Allen a lot they probably can get him from their current draft position. Cleveland is in a very interesting situation. If they handle the draft and cap availability smartly they should add an infusion of talent to their roster. Without question Cleveland is a team that could/should make a quantum leap forward.
  8. I'm not sure that the prior relationship is much of a factor. The issue is who is going to offer the most. A team can have a higher pick but if the lower team offers more good picks then that is the team that is going to be dealt with. With all the draft capital that the Bills have are in a position to make a deal not only with the Giants but also with the Colts. If the Bills covet Rosen then I think the Bills will deal with the Giants. On the other hand if the Bills would be satisfied with Darnold or Mayfield then the Colts might be the team we consummate a deal with. Without a doubt with the move up there are more options for us.
  9. If you wear an adult diaper it won't be too messy. Although you may have a lingering smell that is easily identifiable.
  10. Is that poop or chocolate ice cream? For some reason it has a potent odor?
  11. Rosen is the most picturesque passer and is probably the most sophisticated reader of defenses. However, the qb that I find the most intriguing is Mayfield. He is the most accurate passer that I have seen in a long time. And he has a feisty personality that would fit in with the region. McBeane are maneuvering to get one of the top three qb prospects in this draft. Whichever one is selected will be a terrific selection. There is a secondary issue with all the front office's maneuvers. Would it be willing to make a deal with maybe a fourth, fifth or sixth slotted team to retain some picks?
  12. Just curious? What's the limit on points? When you observe what McBeane are doing you see a coherence and strategy to what they are doing. Even if you don't agree with everything they do at least you can see the logic that is being applied. As I said before I'm more optimistic now than I have been in a generation.
  13. I say this with respect and comity but we are never going to agree on the Taylor issue. The Bills made the playoffs for a lot of fortuitous reasons. Spinning the argument that others are claiming he had zero responsibility is an unfair and bogus way to describe the criticisms directed toward him. As far as I'm concerned the Bills made the playoffs not primarily because of him but despite his play as a qb. When the strategy is for your qb not to lose the game that is a testament to how he is viewed by the organization. He is a fine fellow. For his sake and the franchise I'm glad he is on another team. I wish him well. I am now more optimistic than I have been in a long time.
  14. The new front office has through their clean out process with a more strategic approach to managing this franchise put it in a good position to move forward. Was Taylor a factor for this change of direction? No, other than a concerted effort to move on from him. Taylor playing the first two years was understandable. He was a stop gap qb who we were fortunate to have. He being a starter beyond those first two years was not a sign of success but a sign of an organizational failure. When the argument on behalf of Taylor is that he is better than what we previously had (not saying you are making that argument) then that is a testament to the low bar this organization has created for itself. The reality is that this organization has taken an important step forward not because he is on the roster but because he is off the roster. I don't want to be harsh and label him a failure. But the reality is that as a qb he was inconsequential. That in itself is a negative judgment.
  15. With you in the room I will continue to be nervous. My non-original thought is I would prefer to keep Glenn. I don't care if it is to play LT, RT or either guard position. Why create another hole when he still has plenty of utility as a player?
  16. You are too demanding! Please don't challenge me for an original thought because I will probably fail. Not only am I a sluggard but I'm also proud of my lagging status.
  17. If the Bills draft Mayfield or Rosen they are going to play very soon. That's the reality of this situation. With respect to playing EJ too early you are misinterpreting that scenario. He was a third or fourth round talent drafted in the first round. That was simply bad scouting and evaluation. I don't care whether he got plenty of development time or not he was not going to be a franchise qb. He simply wasn't and isn't good enough. Both Rosen and Mayfield are much more prepared to play relatively quickly compared to EJ.
  18. The difference between the St. Louis situation and the possible Buffalo situation is that I don't believe the hometown franchise perceives him as the long-term qb as St. Louis did when he was the first player taken in the draft. From Bradford''s standpoint I'm sure he recognizes that what he needs to do in the short-term is regain some credibility as a player. Due to injuries he hasn't played in a long time. So it is doubtful that he is going to garner a rich multi-year contract in the market. If he could be signed on a very reasonable contract this would be a good match. What's the risk? If the Bills get one of the premium qb prospects and Bradford gets hurt then the rookie is going to get early playing time. If the often injured veteran qb plays well then the rookie qb has more time to prepare. The bottom line is that it would be a good situation for Bradford and for the Bills.
  19. I've been liberated. With the trade Alphadog and his crew will no longer call me a hater.
  20. I would certainly prefer Mayfield or Rosen or Darnold over Rudolph. But if a deal can't be made to move up for one of the top three qbs then a reasonable fallback position is to stay pat and select either Rudolph or Jackson with one of our first round picks. Bolstering the roster with our multiple picks in the first three rounds is not a bad secondary strategy to take if the primary draft strategy can't be executed. My sense is that Mayfield might drop a little while Darnold and Rosen would be selected at the top of the draft. If I had to guess I would say that Rosen is the qb that the Bills covet the most. What makes me optimistic is that I trust McBeane to have figured out the best way to handle this draft. I'm confident that they can smartly adjust to how the draft is unfolding.
  21. I understand your preference to move up to a lower position to get one of the premium prospects but that's a gamble that I'm not willing to make. I would rather be more aggressive than being more conservative to secure a franchise qb. The priority is to come out of this draft with our long term qb. If you look at the hefty cost as a long term investment then the benefit would be worth the extravagant price. However, if during the draft process our evaluators upgrade the status of qbs such as Rudolph and Jackson then I will be more willing to be less aggressive in the selection of our qb. The example that should be our model is what the Rams and Eagles did two years ago to get their respective qbs. Was it worth it? Definitely yes.
  22. Five years ago the Bills drafted a third to fourth round rated qb in the first round. You may have been excited by such foolishness but I wasn't. If you are trying to convince me that the Bills have not made wise decisions with respect to acquiring a franchise qb, don't bother. You and I are in the same choir singing the same lament. Maybe not for you but I do see a greater focus to get a top shelf prospect from this year's draft. That is a refreshing change that hasn't happened in years. Because of the past you may be irretrievably jaded, I'm not. I'm excited about this offseason because of the anticipation on how this organization is going to address the qb issue. Sometimes being too cool can be very uncool.
  23. Your voice is not heard out of the local area code. Shout louder!
  24. This year all the local teams were good and played an up tempo brand of entertaining ball. Would love to see a weekend of a local tournament.
