  1. There isn't a harsher critic of Tyrod than I am. However, your recollection of that EJ/TT time period is flawed. Whether there was a fair competition or a predetermined outcome it didn't matter because one of the quarterbacks simply couldn't play. It was evident prior to training camp when the staff witnessed close up how incapable he was during the scheduled practice sessions. Tyrod wasn't simply better than EJ---he was immensely better than EJ. As an unabashed Tyrod critic I will go so far as to say that this downtrodden and stupid organization was very fortunate that they were able to get Tyrod when it did. The EJ option was not only untenable but a disaster in the making.
  2. The Browns would be making a mistake if they don't take their highest rated qb with their first pick. My bet is on Darnold. If they stay at four they should then take either Fitzpatrick or Chubb, if available. The Browns just signed Hyde from free agency. So I don't think that they would sign Barkley. I recognize that Barkley may be one of the highest rated player in this draft but the Browns need to build a roster and not just accumulate players. If they want to get another back then they can get a very good one at the top of the second round. The Browns have a lot of high draft picks and a gargantuan cap space. They need to be wise about using their assets and start thinking more about fitting the pieces together than with accumulating players for the sake of accumulating players.
  3. If Cleveland would have had a qb such as Tyrod or even McCarron last year they would have won maybe four to six games. When basic qb competency is a major leap forward that tells you how bad they were at the position. My guess is that the Browns are going to use their first pick on Darnold and their next pick for either Fitzpatrick or Chubb, if he is there. If the Browns manage their assets (picks and cap space) wisely they can dramatically improve and give their brutalized fan base some hope.
  4. I believe that there Is a bias against him because he comes from wealth. So when he gives an opinion on some issues the impression some people have is that there is an attitude of entitlement and arrogance. Rosen is a smart guy. He is also a forthright guy who answers questions thoughtfully and honestly. Some people consider him outspoken but I don't. He just doesn't respond like a jock who gives cliché and robotic responses. Some of the old school people are wary about someone who is comfortable outside the confines of the football environment. I like Rosen a lot as a player. Most people do. But the reality is that in the parochial world of the football business some people are uncomfortable and feel threatened by someone who thinks about things beyond the field. There may be a few anonymous critics about his attitude but I haven't heard any complaints that he doesn't work hard or isn't a competitor.
  5. None of his teammates have anonymously said any thing bad about him. Neither have his coaches.
  6. Go back again and reread what I said about him. I wasn't knocking him. I stated clearly that I'm ecstatic with the signing. I was just describing his style of play.
  7. You missed the point. I was referring to style of play and not comparing players. Go back and reread it and you will have a better understanding what my point was.
  8. He's athletic and has good speed. But I wouldn't say he is an explosive player like Von Miller or Haley. (Just using style of play as the example). Someone else smartly compared him to Kerrigan from the Skins. Without question he is an unrelenting pass and maximum effort player. He will never be considered an elite pass rusher but he will be considered a good rusher who plays his position responsibly. While Hughes can be suckered into plays with his maniacal desire to get to the passer Murphy plays his position as a pass rusher with a greater awareness to his other responsibilities. As I have stated before this is a terrific pickup from a number of standpoints. The wrestling coach is systematically adding players who fit his preferred profile. He is noticeably adding players who increase the intelligent quotient for the team. The HC reconfigured the defensive backfield last year with smart and intuitive players, and is steadily doing that with the roster. The McDermott profile is the opposite of the Rex roguish profile. Intelligence matters!
  9. You are a bigot. You simply don't like pricks. Let them hang loose and don't bother them. As long as they don't enter your comfort zone just leave them alone.
  10. I'm more sympathetic to Allen than you are. More so last year than this year he had some emotional issues. He couldn't control his volcanic emotions. There was an emotional petulance to him that he just couldn't control. He's improved in that area but you can still see the remnants of person who can't responsibly handle and channel his frustrations. If I recall correctly he was "encouraged" (forced) to seek counseling. Is Allen a dirty player? I would say yes but it is not due to being a mean-spirited person so much as it is due to an inability to control those explosive emotions that are close to the surface. He is like a suburban player who is not able to adjust to the tougher city/street ball. He still has a way to go to control himself but he is making progress. Maybe not adequate enough for a Tar Heel but for a more tolerant Golden Griffin I would say that he has made progress.
  11. Not intending to quibble. But I think you meant Matt Flynn.
  12. There is a rumor floating around that some posters who have been assaulted by boyst are circulating a petition to get him on the deadly show, The Big Bang Theory. When the producers auditioned the Carolina farmer he refused to give up wearing his weathered overhauls and **** encrusted cowboy boots for the nerdy outfits that the rest of the cast wore. So he ended up cursing them out and calling them fu****** west coast *****suckers and headed back east to the farm.
  13. He's the type of guy whose best description is that he is a "football player." He's the antithesis of Dareus. You don't have to worry about him because he is the self-motivated type. If there is a problem it would be more due to working too hard to the point of exhaustion and obsession. He's a terrific pickup.
  14. You are right I mixed up the two. Even as a Carolina grad you have to give the less than athletic Bobby his props for how hard he played. He gave it all he got. I think some of the hostility toward him was because he couldn't hide his emotions. He reminds me of Duke's Grayson Allen he attracts a lot of hostility because he comes off as whiny when in reality each of these players are not capable of masking their emotions.
  15. The scouting report that you posted describes him perfectly. He is not a great athlete but he is maximum effort player that when the film is broken down shows that he played well and responsibly. When watching a game he doesn't draw much attention because he lacks the explosiveness and flash. Without question he is the type of people and players the wrestling coach wants on his roster. I'm ecstatic.
  16. That's the challenge that the mid-level programs have to contend with. I would rather have talented young people who leave for better opportunities because they did a good job than get pedestrian people who run your program down into the mud hole of mediocrity.
  17. I mixed up where the former AD went to. It was Danny White who went to Central Florida. His father is the AD at Duke. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_White_(athletic_director)
  18. Danny Hurley elevated the program and left it in good shape. Danny Hurley did what most coaches do after doing a good job. seeking better opportunities based on his work record. By the way the young AD at UB who hired Hurley left to become the AD at Duke. That's how it works in that field of endeavor. You may begrudge Hurley for leaving but I don't. He did well at UB and is doing well at ASU. I'll give him props while you throw mud pies at him. You still can't get the Marrone departure out of your blood stream. Let it go! You'll feel much better.
  19. Why would you think that they weren't doing their homework on all of the top tier qbs? The Bills acquired picks and recently traded up. They currently don't have a credible qb on the roster. The GM has often stated the priority to get a franchise qb. My prediction is that the Bills will move up to the Colts spot before the draft and solidify their ability to draft a high end qb prospect. The Bills under this new regime have made a number of transactions from day one that indicate that drafting a qb is the priority. There is no secret agenda. This is all done in plain sight. What's obvious is obvious.
  20. The Hurley brothers have done terrific jobs at their respective locations. The Rhode Island Hurley's response to his brother's being in the tournament showed a lot of emotion and love. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/uris-dan-hurley-gets-emotional-as-brother-bobby-asu-snag-ncaa-tournament-bid/
  21. Because of the signing of Bridgewater more than the signing of McCown I think the Jets want to get a good look at him before making another high investment in a qb. The Jets certainly were interested in the Cousins sweepstake so that tells you that they were scouring the market beyond the draft. That's just an opinion I'm offering based on what I see going on with no inside knowledge of what is actually going on within that franchise.
  22. There is a rumor circulating that Connecticut is interested in Hurley.
  23. What is telling is that so far AJ hasn't drawn much interest from the market. I still believe that he would be a solid pickup for us regardless what qb we draft. I think it is a mistake to assume that just because Arizona and Denver made market qb pickups that they won't still draft a qb. I'm now not even sure if the Jets are going to take a qb with their first pick because they signed McCown and Bridgewater. My feeling is that the Bills have to take an aggressive approach to get their preferred qb. It would be a mistake to wait and then lose out. Your guess is as good as anyone else's as to what the Bills actually qb ranking is in this class. If Allen is added to the top tier grouping as many analysts believe then maybe staying at the 12 spot might be a reasonable approach to take. Jeremiah on the NFL Network had us moving up to the Colts's three spot and taking Allen. Options laid on top of options.
  24. There is no secret what the strategy is for this organization. They are going to maneuver up to get one of the premium qb prospects. The deal with the Bengals was a clear sign what their intentions are. The Bills are doing what the Eagles did when they traded up to get Wentz. The Eagles worked their way up the ladder from a lower spot and then were in a better position to make a deal with the Browns. I see the Colts at the three spot as the targeted team. If AJ is signed he has value both as a placeholder for the high cost rookie qb and if in the short-term he is relegated as a backup that is still an important role. This is just my impression but I get the sense that the Bills want to get a deal done before the draft so that they will have their position locked in and assured that they are going to get one of the qbs in the top group. So even if the Browns and the Giants use their first pick for a qb the qb well won't be dry when we go to the podium.
  25. Jeffismagic has publicly disclaimed the rumor that he wears panties. He insists that he is a bare back rider who doesn't wear underwear because he finds it too restrictive. There is an explanation as to why he frequently uses the idiom of the "low hanging fruit". Hint, he's not talking about fruit.
