  1. Amari was a free agent so the Cowboys locked him up before he bolted this offseason. In contrast, the Cowboys had the ability to retain Dak as a RFA and then at a later time sign him to a long term bonanza contract. So it is understandable why the organization handled and sequenced the signings the way they did.
  2. When the train has already left the station waiting is futile.
  3. You don't need a crystal ball. Just trust your eyes and it will tell you all you need to know. I say with supreme confidence that there is no GM in the league, including the one who presides over the Bills, who given the choice wouldn't take Watson over Josh. If you don't believe me then go to @GunnerBill one of the most sagacious voices on this platform who will set you straight.
  4. Truth can't be refuted. It can be ignored and distorted. In the end it is enduring even if you have to hide behind a barricade in order to avoid the crooked arrows directed toward you.
  5. Why would you take heat for stating the obvious that Watson is now and will always be a better qb than Josh? And that preference is not a slight on Allen who I think is going to be a good qb. As with you I consider Mahomes as the best qb with the advantage of youth over Wilson. I have a high regard for Russell Wilson but would take Watson over him because he is a younger qb. The Bills had the opportunity to draft either Mahomes or Watson a couple of years ago. They didn't seize on that opportunity. It was a mistake.
  6. I wish you the best. As much as all the bad news you have had to face you are fortunate that you were not able to close the deal that you were soon going to make. If the timing would have been different you would have used the assets that took you a lifetime to earn only to invest in a proposition that would have led you to a quick bankruptcy and depletion of everything you worked for. For what it is worth I have a lot of respect for you because you had a dream and were not afraid to pursue it. That takes a lot of courage and belief in oneself. This coronavirus epidemic beyond the health issues will cause a lot of lingering long term economic damage. Hopefully, you will be able to get through the tough times and survive these troubled times. I wish you well.
  7. These guys got money coming out of their asses. I'm sure that they will be able to make arrangements to not only get the test but quickly get the results. Some people get in the front of the line when going to the clubs by flashing the green stuff so it shouldn't be surprising for some people to skip the line to get the test and results in short order.
  8. If they are symptom free and get tested wouldn't the test indicate whether they are infected or not? If that is the case then assuming that they are virus free and quarantining themselves in the off hours then why are they at risk or putting anyone else at risk?
  9. This is a 15 min clip of Marty on WGR talking about some of the players on the more offensive teams he played on. The one team he talked about that was injury riddled in the playoffs was a genuine cup contending team. At the end of the clip he talked about a couple of the players he didn't like. Marty has to be one of the most likeable people in the media. https://wgr550.radio.com/media/audio-channel/04-02-marty-biron

  11. There is no need for the airline/s to automatically go out of business during this time of economic stress. They should do what other businesses do when they go through hard times: either temporarily downsize or file for bankruptcy and buy itself some time to restructure their businesses. The energy sector has gone from a period of prosperity to a period of financial stress. So because of the turbulent economic climate they will have to lay off workers and shut down some wells until the business climate improves and then go back to making a profit. When you are in a cyclical business you are in a cyclical business where you are required to adjust to the inevitable up and down cycles. When the airlines are doing well they want to pocket their profits and be left alone. On the other hand when they run into turbulent times they want the government to step in and bail them out. This is an industry where their business model is to squeeze the shiiit out of its customers. They have not earned my sympathy.
  12. She seems like a perfectionist. I'm sure she demanded retakes to get the scene perfectly right.
  13. No one is denying that it is expensive to run an airline. However, the airlines were thriving with capacity tight seating and low fuel costs. If a customer cancelled because of no fault of his own he should be reimbursed for the money put out and the service not received.
  14. I don't think we really disagree. If you draft a Burrow or a Tua or a Josh Allen you have to put them in a system that is conducive to their individual talents. If a HC is wedded to a system where Burrow can thrive then he shouldn't be drafted by that team. I agree with you that McDermott wouldn't run a 34 defense. But he is astute enough to get an OC who can run a system that is suitable to JA.
  15. I agree that few players can transcend all of the various systems. But that's my point. There shouldn't be a need to. What distinguishes the good coaches from the mediocre ones are their ability to adapt to the players they have on hand. I really don't believe in the concept of perfecting a scheme (as you state it) because the opposition is constantly adjusting to what you do and you don't always have all your players perfectly fit your ingrained scheme. The ability to constantly adjust to the changing nature of the game because of the changing rules makes it an imperative to be flexible. The bottom line is production. If a limited player is more productive in a more suited scheme than the more talented player then the limited player is the better player.
  16. What has impressed me about the UB program is that under this regime it has put together a big and effective OL where their talented backs can thrive. In my mind that has been the primary reason why their offense has been so consistently good.
  17. I never understood the system argument as a reason to denigrate/diminish a qb. Tom Brady and Brees are to an extent system qbs. Athletically, they are more limited than a lot of qbs from a mobility and arm strength standpoints. Yet both are longstanding great qbs. Burrow playing with the dinosaur OC two years ago was a far different qb compared to last year with a younger and more enlightened OC. The issue for a coach at any position is to put the player in a position to emphasize his strengths and minimize his weaknesses.
  18. Airbnb and the airlines are also dealing with mass cancelations where they don't have the cash to pay back the money advanced. The airlines should not be given any bailout money or loans unless they pay back the money advanced for reservations that were cancelled because of no fault from the customers.
  19. You hit the nail on the head with your last sentence. But that qualifier applies to every drafted qb. Andrew Luck was by many accounts one of the highest rated qbs coming out of college since Elway. The expectations were so high that the Colts pushed out Peyton, a future HOF qb. So instead of making it a point of emphasis to build a credible OL to protect him (their franchise saving investment) their GM patched together a mediocre line that got their qb battered. The point is obvious here. If you are going to make a major investment you need to put that qb in a position to succeed.
  20. Haskins beat out Burrow so he transferred. But that doesn't mean that Burrow is an inferior prospect compared to Haskins. Burrow doesn't have the arm strength of Haskins or a lot of other prior prospects but he does have the ability to make reads and accurately throw the ball. Most draft analysts have Burrow as the #1 qb prospect and Tua as the #2. Bucky Brooks rates Tua as the #1 qb prospect in this class. This is the time of year where all prospects get over analyzed. No prospect is perfect. But as the first qb off the board he is worthy of that lofty distinction. That doesn't necessarily mean that he will be the most successful qb out of this draft but that might be more due to the organization he goes to and the support system he has to work with.
  21. A brilliant doctor and saint succumbed to the virus. Even as an older doctor his loss means a loss to the patients he could have served. The doctor, nurses and all the staff including the cleaning and food staff are serving on the dangerous front lines of fighting this virulent virus. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/31/health/neurosurgeon-goodrich-tribute-conjoined-twins/index.html
  22. The growth in maturity over the past few years is evident. You can see the influence of his family in that although he has been a star player throughout his hockey life there is little trace of entitlement. He is a well grounded young adult on and off the ice.
  23. The attached link is a column by Bill Hoppe writing for Buffalo Hockey Beat. It's about Dominik Kahun. Included in the link are highlights of Kahun when he was with the Penguins. Botterill made a good deal to get Joki. Just maybe this deal will work out as well. In the games he played for Buffalo he demonstrated that he can skate and has good offensive skills. The line he was on with Johansson-Olofsson was a very active line that created a lot of chances. I thought Johansson was rejuvenated playing on this fast and skilled line. http://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/sabres-might-possess-special-talent-in-newcomer-dominik-kahun/?view=getnewpost
  24. If they don't draft a qb (probably Herbert) they are missing an opportunity that their draft position provides them. Tyrod is a good bridge qb for them and the teams he has played for. He is a useful temporary fill-in qb who has carved out an extended and lucrative career with his assets and liabilities. However, there is a good reason why he has had a nomadic career and has played for a long list of franchises. He is what he is and will always be what he is and not go beyond. If the Chargers have an opportunity to draft either Tua or Herbert (assumption Burrow will be gone) and don't seize on it they will be making a mistake that will reverberate for years.
  25. J.P. Losman had the same debilitating mental traits not related to his fulsome physical talents. After watching games for a long time I have come to the realization that it doesn't take long to recognize whether a qb prospect has it or not. As you seem to suggest "trust your eyes" and don't get swayed by your heart. You either have that vision and feel for the game or you don't. No amount of coaching can instill that essential talent that is required in the pro game. Tom Brady is the best possessor of these instinctive traits. And I do believe that Tua also has it although we won't know for sure until he gets on the field.
