  1. It would be intriguing to find out how this team ranks the qbs. A lot of analysts believe that Rosen is their top ranked qb. Many even believe that Allen is the qb the Bills are actually targeting. What I would find most fascinating is how Mayfield and Jackson are ranked in their board? I just don't know and I find that to be irksome and challenging.
  2. My understanding is that drug testing falls under the purview of the league and not the teams. https://www.nflpa.com/2016-drug-and-steroid-policies
  3. What's happening more and more is that some of these highly touted recruits get anchored to the bench and end up leaving. He may be a legitimate four star recruit but too many recruits are over-rated and end up going to programs where they go by the wayside. I'm not as familiar with Moyer as you are but a player who can't shoot (unless you are a big man) is not going to prosper in a big time program. My point in my early post is that a better assessment of a player's talents relative to the program he goes to in the end mostly benefits the player. There are plenty of players in big time programs whose primary experience in college ball are being cheerleaders on the bench instead of being player at programs where they would have been actual participants.
  4. More and more you see players transferring from one program to another because of a lack of playing time. The lack of playing time has to frustrate a scholarship athlete. Even if Moyer wasn't a good shooter there still should be a role for him on the court. Very often a player will go to a big time program in which he simply isn't good enough especially in a program that yearly brings in top shelf talent. If a player such as Moyer went to Canisius or Niagra he would be getting a lot of playing time and more satisfaction from his college basketball experience.
  5. Gettysburg is well known for its ghost apparitions.
  6. One of my major criticisms of Boeheim is that he too sparingly plays the bench. You can see why players get frustrated when they don't get much playing time. If he would expand his rotation his starters would be fresher and the subs would not only get better but also feel like they are part of the team.
  7. That's one way of being intoxicated. The side benefit is that your nostrils should be clear from the whiplash aroma.
  8. Just curious. Is bridled hate better than unbridled hate?
  9. I doubt that he is going to change the fortunes of this team that needs to be reconstituted. In general, the team is too slow and sluggish. When you watch other teams play it is a different fast paced game. Okposo was a major miscalculation from the type of player he is and the contract he garnered. O'Reilly is a good old style of player in a new style league that emphasizes speed, something he doesn't have. He is a good player but not a player who plays commensurate to his contract. Mittlestadt is probably going to be on the NHL roster next year and he will be a good addition. But some of our better prospects are at least a couple years away. If Nylander doesn't make a quantum leap forward next year this will be a major set back. As I see it there is no quick fix. The player I feel sorry for is Jack. He is on a team that can't keep up with him and play with him.
  10. Beckham and Landry in the same huddle arguing with Tyrod over who should get the ball. That would certainly make the sports talk shows humming. When you have a fire why not throw in more gasoline to make the situation even more volatile. If OBJ can't be corralled under his current contract how is he going to behave if he has one of the riches contracts with guaranteed money for a receiver locked in? If Cleveland or any team signs him they are asking for trouble. He's a great talent who is capable of blowing up a team. It seems like each year his behavior becomes more erratic and outrageous. Fools gold!
  11. Whether you are carrying a short barrel or a long barrel I don't want to know. TMI! Everything I heard about Zay last year is that he is a good kid with a high work ethic. He really struggled. How much his injury affected him I can't say. He was such a productive player in college it is difficult to believe that last year represented what he is capable of. I'm hoping that he has a dramatic turn around. I'm really pulling for him. I'm also hoping that Benjamin can get his knee cleaned up and be a good player for us. As it stands the Bills not only don't have a #1 receiver it also doesn't have a receiver fast enough to push the dbs back.
  12. It must be noted that if you don't have a qb that can make quick reads and throw in rhythm then you are going to be in a state of futility and exasperation. I don't want to reprise the Taylor issue because it causes intense reactions but if there is a desire to have a modern passing game then he can't be taking the snaps for you. Although I find Lamar Jackson to be an intriguing prospect he doesn't fit the profile of a qb that Beane wants to build around. I would go so far as to say that if the GM had to choose between Rudolph and Jackson he would select Rudolph. If I had to guess the qb that Beane would salivate over is Rosen who is an accurate passer and can work from the pocket.
  13. Think of it as not giving up two first round picks. In reality, you are exchanging one first rounder for a higher pick and giving up your lower first round pick. The Bills traded down in the first round with KC last year in order to get a first round pick the next year with the intention of using it to maneuver for a high end qb prospect in this year's draft.
  14. One advantage of getting arrested when naked is that no one can claim that you are a threat because you might have a weapon on you. On the serious side I hope Zay is doing fine and whatever issue he had associated with that eruption is resolved or is being properly dealt with.
  15. I don't disagree with what you and Bloke are saying about the desirability for speed in a receiver. However, the overwhelming percentage of passing plays are in the short to medium range. New England with one of the best qbs in the history of the game demonstrate the emphasis in the passing game that revolves around the short and medium plays. If I had a choice between Andre Reed or James Lofton, both HOF players, who represent the contrast in style we are discussing here I would prefer Andre Reed because he would be more suitable in the passing game in the way the game is currently played. As I stated in a prior post Jerry Rice who arguably is the best receiver in modern times was not considered a speed demon. We aren't basically disagreeing as we are emphasizing different attributes in what one would prioritize in a receiver.
  16. I'm not overly influenced by the stopwatch measure. Whether he runs a 4.6 instead of a 4.4 what does it really matter when you are on the football field? It's how you play, how you run routes and have good hands that should determine how the player is perceived. What makes some of the stopwatch times in these school settings even more deceptive is that players train for the test. I acknowledge that if a player is clocked at an exceedingly slow time that the measure Is significant but for me the tape is more illuminating than the clock is when evaluating a receiver. As an example Jerry Rice was far from being a speedster. He is one of the all-time greats in the game. Some teams mistakenly lowered his ranking on their boards because of his times.
  17. I would be deeply disappointed if the Bills don't come out of this draft with one of the top six qb prospects in this draft. My sense is that McBeane want to address the qb issue this year and move on. I can accept drafting Rudolph or Jackson with a lower first but I will be bothered not coming out of this draft without an upper tier qb prospect. (I consider Jackson and Rudloph good options.) It's my opinion that based on Beane's comments about what he is looking for in a qb that Rudolph fits his profile and would be a good fallback selection.
  18. Your board looks like a McBeane draft. The only problem I have with it is that there are so many teams needing qbs there could be a run on the second tier qbs in the second round as there was in the first round. If that is the case then it is unlikely that Rudolph will be there when he make a selection in the second round unless we move up in that round or to the lower first round. But overall your picks represent a plausible Buffalo draft.
  19. He simply is not worth the money he is asking for. No one is questioning that he is one of the best receivers in the game but from a roster and cap balance standpoint he isn't worth the financial commitment. He has a recent history of being plagued with injuries and he can be a disruptive and unstable person in the locker room and on the field. I'm not saying that he is a bad guy or a good guy. From an analytical standpoint of cost to talent to availability to his disruptive behavior he is not the type of player that you would be able to count on. If you have problems with him now what will happen when the player has even more leverage over the team when there is such a financial commitment to him.
  20. You are not only argumentative but you are also pugnacious. I mean it in a good way.
  21. Hue's not making the calls. The new GM is. This signing is difficult to understand especially if the Browns were going to use their first or fourth pick for a qb. The signing of Stanton would have made sense if the Browns didn't sign Taylor. However, this signing makes some sense if the Browns are determined not to play their drafted qb (assuming they use one of their first round picks for a qb) in his rookie year.
  22. Some people project him as a franchise qb and some don't. There were questions about Wilson, Watson, Prescott, Mahomes etc. Being confident in one's projection on a player at this point is not the same as being accurate about the prospects chances for success. If you want to get a hit then you have to swing at the ball. If you are waiting for a perfect date you are likely staying home and watching TV while everyone else is canoodling.
  23. For me the issue with respect to Rudolph or any qb for that matter is whether the qb can be in time a franchise qb. If he could develop into a solid franchise qb then the round ranking isn't as important to me. If Rudolph has a third round ranking and can be a solid starting qb in the pros then I would take him ahead of a DT or LB or CB etc who has a second round ranking player who becomes a good pro. I understand the ideal and the quest for the elite qb. But when an organization hasn't had a franchise qb in nearly a quarter of a century then securing a potential franchise qb seems to be a very attractive act. As it stands I'm open to all options regarding a qb. There are a lot of debatable routes to take such as throwing in a substantial amount of draft chips to acquire a premium prospect. And then there is a very reasonable argument to be made to stand pat and use your draft assets to bolster the roster and still be able to get a good but not great prospect. I'm not dismissing any option other than to not address this issue in a meaningful way in this draft. I would consider drafting a qb like Rudolph as being a meaningful and reasonable way to handle this issue.
  24. How would you compare Hurst to Aaron Donald who I consider to be one of the best, if not the best, interior defenseman in the league. It seems that their style of play is similar.
  25. When Mayock talked about Rosen there was a subtle difference when comparing him to the qbs you listed. He was making the point that he was uncomfortable with his ability to protect himself. He made the comparison to Bradford in that he is vulnerable to getting hit with regularity and being more prone to being injured. Marino rarely ran yet he quickly got rid of the ball. There were a variety of reasons why RG III failed, at least so far. One of the main reasons is that he didn't know how to protect himself. He had to be taught how to slide and go down. He too often made decisions of extending plays and refusing to go down, run out of bounds or simply throw it away. These were issues of judgment on the field. I consider Rosen the most polished passer in this draft class. I would be ecstatic if the Bills were able to select him. But that is not to say that Mayock's point of view is without merit or consideration.
