  1. Last year Schoebel with 3 years left on his deal - got a blockbuster deal? For arguably being less productive than Jason Peters. And he hasn't even been in any of the OTAs. What's up with that? I don't know if he has been at minicamp. Still he gets a free pass and Peters is being criticized. I just don't get it. C
  2. Amen, bro. I was hard on Hardy when his news came up...With Lynch I gave him the benefit of the doubt because of his community service in Oakland and he seems like a good guy. But now, I want him to step up and be a man. If he was at fault, say so. If it was someone else, say so. If not, I hope they throw the friggin' book at him... C
  3. Man, that was awesome! Are you a screenwriter or something? This post should be pinned...
  4. To my boss, I better damn well. Esp. if my face is plastered on the news. Good Lord, people are so desperate for a number two WR that we are willing to overlook his behavior? I hope the kid does well and grows beyond this. But right now given his history and given his weak press statement, I'm not for giving him the benefit of the doubt. C
  5. Well, *that* does make sense...
  6. Actually he does...The organization and by extension us fans have invested in him...The guy has a history, dude...
  7. Then why did James the younger book? Doesn't make sense...Or he could have walked over to the neighbor laughing and said, "No, no we're just horsing around and sh*t...Dig?" I would have had more respect for the guy if he said, "You know what, I let my frustrations get the better of me. I let my fans and myself down. I am working with someone to get a handle on this and I hope to be a better person in the future." I just hope he doesn't go all Haynesworth on us... C
  8. I like this post. But don't expect a lot of folks here to. I don't get it - if this player was on any other team he'd be all but in the slammer now. Yeah, he made a statement about the situation being misread. How many ways can you interpret some guy with a gun yelling at his dad. And then disappearing before the police show up? If this was a guy without a questionable history, I';d be more inclined to blame it on the paparazzi mentality. My dad when he and I were younger was a total ass - but geez I was never ever gonna pull a gun on him, no matter how many times he whipped my butt...I guess in this particular case, one assh*le deserves being threatened by a gun by another assh*le. Also one more thing, the dad might not have won any Father of the Year awards, but you gotta admire him standing up and protecting his son no matter how dysfunctional the whole situation sounds...
  9. I hate guns. But it's legal and he has a right to own them. I want to hear a statement from Hardy. This doesn't bode well for his behavior issues. They guy has at least one blot on his recent history. This would make it two. I hope the Bills put in behavior clauses in his contract. I would also make him attend anger management/counselling sessions on a "voluntary" basis before all this gets out of hand. Where's there's smoke.... C
  10. Yeah, that was my motivation for the initial post. I saw we picked him up. Just couldn't believe the Browns cut him.
  11. Wow, I thought for sure, the Browns could use Temple. Who else do they have besides Jamal? C
  12. I am a Type II. The key is constant monitoring. Most of the health teams within football organizations have a real good handle on it. I'm sure the Broncos have a great health team. It's way unusual for someone to be diagnosed with Type 1 this late in life. But it's possible. I think his athletic lifestyle probably masked the symptoms. I just hope this isn't a case of being diagnosed really late as opposed to recently developing the disease. The pump is just a way to deliver insulin boluses on demand. He doesn't need to (and probably shouldn't) wear one during a game. They just need to monitor his BGs during defensive series. C
  13. There's retirement and then there's Retry-ement...
  14. Anyone know how TEs taken in the first two rounds in the last 3-4 years have worked out for their teams? Shockey, Winslow and Vernon Davis have not seems to me been that productive. Wasn't Antonio Gates a FA signing? Charles
  15. I know - I know we have too many cooks as it is...But this guy knew talent... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/foot...f.ap/index.html
  16. If this is true, the Cowboys just got screwed...
  17. Oh please, if RJ was half the QB Losman is - we wouldn't still be drowning in our beer...Losman isn't a world beater - but gawd he isn't RJ. C
  18. Congrats JfH - 7000 - I feel like a slacker ;-) I don't know, John - seems to me some positions more than other rely on coaching. So for example, I think defensive players - maybe LBs in particular. Can pretty much translate their college abilities to the pros really well. The learning curve doesn't seem as steep. But for WRs, I think next to QBs and OL on offense, their learning curve is pretty steep. RBs probably have the biggest impact as rookies. These guys relied on their athleticism in HS, College whatever and only the guys who are students of the game and are willing to put in the study time, seem to be on an accelerated development pace. The classic I think is Moulds. He did nothing for 3 years...3 years and I remember Marv being frustrated with him. Then a light goes on. There are exceptions - Moss for example. But he had freakish talent and I think the rest of the NFL never really found a way to neutralize it - if he *wanted* to play. There are I think guys in the NFL - who can only be defeated by themselves. Not many of those are in the WR group. Don't know if that answers your question. I really like how Sweed plays over Kelly. He just seems to be at a different speed than everybody else. But I must confess I've only seen his highlight reel with a rock track behind it. So I might be biased. IMHO, the most complete receiver I've ever seen out of college (and I haven't followed the game very long) is Rod Smith from Denver. With Hines Ward a close second. But that's only because I think Smith contributed almost immediately. All things being equal I'd take the defensive player, if it was a position of need. C
  19. Watch them go after him with a 5 yr/50 mil offer...
  20. I don't know...besides McCardell and Smith in the first years under Coughlin - what other incredible receivers have the JAgs had. Most of us have a man crush on Wilford. But truth be told he is barely above average. I think the WR coaching in Jag world is suspect. I don't know if Jones coming here will be that much better. Tolbert hasn't impressed me much. But I think if Jones went to somewhere where they have good receiver coaching say, AZ, NE or NY, he could realize his potential. C
  21. Depending on the deal, I was thinking the same thing. It's not like he's a bum. I'd sign him to slightly above vet minimum and incentives. C
  22. Also one other thing - I don't think we've had really good talent scouting since Dwight Adams and AJ left. Likewise in our pro dept. WTF is John Guy being paid to do?
  23. I like Whitner a lot but I have to agree here. We could sure use someone like a Ngata now. Just see how much energy and resources we're expanding trying to shore up our run game. I don't think it was a dumb move necessarily, just not very prudent. I really, really think Marv panicked once Huff was gone. C
  24. Hmm...tell that to Will Wolford. Cutler was the SEC Player of the Year but I think he'll still be finding his feet. The guy we need to be concerned with Travis Henry. He'll want to light it up. C
