  1. How did the overachieve? I don't get it. Gruden has plenty of name recognition. But in the end after 6 years, he did nothing after winning with Dungy's talent pool. For a QB guru, he hasn't developed any guy. And their draft has been worse than ours. I'm glad we don't have him. I have to agree that the 2009-10 off season seems to have a great pool of coaching talent available. I'm surprised no one has made a play for Mariucci. But I don't think Shanahan, Cowher or Mariucci will coach this year. Plus if I think what happens here in Nashville happens, the Titans will fire Fisher next off season after choosing to go with VY and missing the playoffs. If that happens, Fisher - for my money would be the best guy available. C
  2. The best evaluation of NFL Draft players I've ever seen are the ones at nfldraftcountdown.com They watch the guys all through Senior Bowl week in Mobile,AL. They have been right on in most of their observations.
  3. I didn't think he was that great a QB. He certainly was a good college QB - but I had my doubts if he would be NFL caliber except maybe in a system that utilized his skill sets well. I don't think he's a game changer. Cutler consistently outplayed him. But Manning had a better team around him at Ole Miss. Then again his teammates couldn't spell Ole
  4. Maybe he meant "Snoring..."
  5. Yeah, but it's in the middle of Tornado Alley. Live in Nashville now. Used to live in Rochester. It's no contest. I'd rather drive/stay home in a blizzard than be in the path of a tornado. No fun!
  6. Amen! The guy is a game changer...Who would you take of the guys taken before him - maybe Matt Ryan. But the dude has lived up to expectations in my book. Of course, our coaching staff didn't utilize him until mid season, but hey... C
  7. Nope. Flacco threw the ball *between* two DBs and hit Heap. What the hell were the Titans players doing? Anyone think it's karma that the Titans haven't won't anything of significance since Home Run Throwup? I live in Nashville and the whining has not stopped since Saturday. C
  8. EXACTLY, that's why we took Whitner instead of Ngata with our pick. I agree that superior talent around an above average player can make said player better. But at some point, you have to draft superior talent. We could have had Ngata, one other good to excellent pass rusher in FA or the draft at this point, and together with Schobel they would have made Leonhard look *at least* as good as Whitner. Which incidentally isn't saying much. Before anyone goes off on me on how much a great addition to the locker room Whitner is. I get it. I like him. I think he's a good guy. We're FaceBook buddies for God's sake ;-) But for the love of Pete, when our FO can't make a simple decision about who the better player is per our needs, we've got bigger problems than whether Leonhard is great or just above average. In comparison to Simpson, Whitner and Wilson! Ozzie Newsome in my opinion is the best damn talent evaluator in the league. Pioli get's a lot of credit - but he has had Belichick coaching those guys. Who has Newsome had? Billick! I just gave myself a headache... C
  9. Goodness people, he has Russ Grimm, one of the all time great OL coaches coaching him...Who do we have? Great coaching can cover a multitude of sins. Poor coaching makes your talent look like they can't beat JV teams. Everybody is trying to dupe the NE formula and think getting above average players in good schemes is gonna get you there. They forget that one of the best all time coaches is coaching that team. Spawn of Satan though that he may be. C
  10. I simply love this show. Peter Berg is a genius.
  11. I'm flummoxed by the Kerry Collins for QB thing. Sure he is a vet. And a decent QB. But he plays behind a stellar line. He is not mobile by any means. If he sit behind our O line as long as he sits behind Munchak's he'll get killed. I think a Jeff Garcia type fits our Oline better. Collins is better off staying in Nashville or going to the Jets or Browns. C
  12. Bingo...I believe this has been our path thus far...
  13. Yeah, I wonder how appropriate Mauluga's action would be if instead of Andrews, it was their daughter, sister, wife or mother standing there oblivious. And then the cheering section. What a bunch of losers... Somehow because the woman is incredibly attractive and is doing her job in a male dominated sport, it's OK. Kinda like a subconscious/subtle "you come into my space, I'm gonna do what I want" childish move. No wonder these idiots think they can do anything they want with no consequences. Nothing more than an immature puppy peeing on his turf trying to show off how dominant he is. Somebody needs to grab the kid by the nape of the neck and put him in a submissive position ala Cesar the Dog Whisperer. Good for you, Lori. Stand your ground. We support you C
  14. Maybe, maybe not - I seem to recall a Bills Booster Meeting Report here from last offseason - perhaps by Cindy. I can't remember the exact details - But it went something like this - someone in the audience mentioned if they'll be looking for a pass catching TE in the draft. John Guy said they were all set with Robert Royal. Russ Brandon snickered. I knew then that Brandon was a better "football" guy than Guy. C
  15. Cutler was head and shoulders above anybody else that year at QB. C
  16. I think our drafts in the later rounds have been respectable. It's the 1-3 rounds that have got me upset. I think that reflects the everything by committee approach taken by the organization recently. There are no exciting picks IMO - the last one was McKelvin and the one before that was Evans. But the other picks I think have been safe rather than a chance at excellence. I just can't imagine this version of the FO selecting Darryl Talley for example. Nor perhaps even Thurman Thomas. The single most important criteria for working in this organization currently is that you have to be able to get along with the owner. Never mind if you are one of the top 3-5 in the league at your job. C
  17. I'll take that kind of "ugly" - their turnaround was probably the biggest miracle in the NFL this year. Next was probably Atlanta with all that turmoil. Again, a GM from the Parcells/Belichik coaching tree. But it just goes to show you what can happen when you make the commitment and effort and take the risk. Sure they could have come out with the short end of the stick. But if they didn't, they would have been guaranteed to fail. To a certain extent, you make your own luck. I admire those two franchises for being so courageous. Turns out for the Bills - the gutless players and play calling is just a reflection of the ownership. C
  18. http://tinyurl.com/9v88bt Love this part -> "Huizenga is a fan's dream. He recognizes when the organization isn't working, doesn't hesitate to spend whatever it takes and readily admits he doesn't know enough about football to meddle. Buffalo Bills fans who scanned that sentence just had pangs of wanderlust." How do I get this article to the Buffalo Bills front office/owner? C
  19. Amen - I live in UT (Tennessee) country. I expect to go blind any day now...
  20. Maybe in title - but not in responsibility or power. For instance, I can see the JAX owner giving him the keys to the kingdom to market the franchise in FL and surrounding areas (ie. AL, GA, etc.) C
  21. My big concern for the Bills and the fans is this - a perfect storm is brewing here where the team may be primed to move. 1) I predict season tickets and even corporate support will wane for the upcoming season as a result of DJ staying. 2) Team will start to hemorrhage money. Even with the Toronto games. 3) I expect Toronto to buy themselves out of the contract. 4) Ralph is old. I expect he'll have passed on in the next 2-3 years. 5) Kids will want to sell franchise. 6) Any prospective buyer looking is not wanna keep the team here after seeing the balance sheet as a result of 1), 2), 3). Unless of course, they are psychotically loyal to the region. 7) NFL given it's propensity for big money will approve sale without preconditions. 8) Bills move.
  22. I doubt he leaves before training camp. But I think he's definitely gone after next season. He has too much respect and love for Ralph to leave him twisting in the wind. He's smart and honorable. I don't know if he is a good football guy. But he is a good guy. But Ralph - again - has chosen to neuter his higher ups. Now we know why Polian, Butler and Smith left. Anyone here who speaks ill of Butler again (except maybe for an atrocious draft that year) deserves to be whacked with uncooked noodles. C
  23. I think I understand what you're saying - But Fisher was coaching that team under very difficult circumstances. They didn't have a "home" field and the conditions were really horrible. They were playing in Memphis *after* they chose Nashville as their home and while LP Field was being built. That record those years was incredible taken in context. They relocated from Texas and I doubt any coach in the NFL wanted the job for real. Fisher is a great, great coach. I think history will show that. I still think the Music City Throwup was a travesty of epic proportions. But he is a great coach. C
  24. LMAO - I went to RIT. I loved my experience there - but I still think the colors are horrendous. How they got that out of a tiger, I'll never know... C
  25. Dedication is one thing...But I for one need to not feel like an idiot for supporting an owner that has no desire to support the fans. Loyalty goes both ways. Love is sometimes irrational. Loyalty can also be irrational. But the healthiest relationships are ones we can walk away from. If you can't, that means you need therapy. I don't know if I'm ready to walk away. I'm a big believer in faith and loyalty. Perhaps to a fault. But I realize I'm in love or loyal to a fable/myth or something that doesn't exist anymore. A team that captured the imagination of an entire region, maybe even a country that reflected the resilience and resourcefulness of the community it represented. This team and it's leaders can't sniff the jockstraps of *that* memory and those individuals. I bear no ill will towards Jauron. He's a good man. But he is an awful game day coach. The owner is the one who now seems to be flaunting a blatant disregard for his fan base. But billionaire owners are not working or middle class families trying to make ends meet hoping their gladiators/heroes show up for 3 hours every Sunday to give them very expensive entertainment. These guys like *this* coach and they still can't perform for him. Think about that for a second. I used to have a great respect for Ralph - but I honestly think he's lost his judgment. Maybe Mort and the rest of the sports press do know something about this owner that we don't. He's just a kinder, gentler Al Davis. I'll be glad to come back running with my tail tucked between my legs when they start winning on a regular basis. But until then there will probably be wiser ways to spend my money.
