  1. Just brilliant - looking forward to the Youtube video...;-)
  2. I believe RW is a good man and as far as the NFL/AFL is concerned he has made some great contributions. However he comes from a generation where wealth presumes entitlements. Also see the Bengals and Raiders. A real franchise GM/Coach would want power and latitude to run a team without having to worry about said entitlements - namely owners, children of owners and nepotism overriding the needs of a franchise in terms of culture and QC of how the team is run. Good owners give that right up to people whom they believe can accomplish what the team needs to accomplish. The two times Wilson ceded control - once the GM had much success but didn't respect the owners entitlements and was run out of town (Polian). The second time, the GM made an awful mess of things by hiring bad coaches and living in paranoia. To make matters worse the team regressed. So I think given how old school Ralph is, he believes that he's been burned twice. Therefore unless he gets really desperate this/next season I don't see him ceding control again under circumstances that would make it appealing for a coach or GM with a successful track record to come help this franchise. So I see the same sad cycle repeating itself because of a insecure old school owner and a paranoid GM. Unfortunately. C
  3. We need to huddle up more. The only team the no huddle is putting pressure on is the Bills. For the Bills' offense, it was more of the same - no touchdowns, no sustained drives and little yardage, or much like it's been throughout a preseason in which a newly installed no-huddle scheme has mostly been a no-go. ''Maybe they need to huddle up a little more,'' Farrior joked. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/...cast_recap.html
  4. I think this franchise has been grossly mis-managed & mis-owned. But the one thing we seem to do well is draft and develop corners. In fact, if you go back and look at our history the last 5 years or so, corner has been a position of strength. So I can't find fault with the franchise letting Greer go for above market. As much I liked his as a player. Be prepared for more of the same with McGee et al. Charles
  5. TO is a short timer. He's not gonna risk an unnecessary injury when he's playing for his last big contract next year. He certainly isn't gonna risk it against the hard hitting Steelers. I expect him to come back against the not so competitive Detroit Lions.
  6. IS Now and was then - but our "brain" trust thought differently...
  7. The thing that is disturbing is that there should be a sense of urgency on this coaching staff and the players. Makes me wonder if there really is a win or else ultimatum at OBD. If there is, all the more reason Jauron should go. Jerry Angelo really knew what he was doing in Chi-town...
  8. they spend on marketing/PR/publicity on scheming/coaching/player development. We'd be a SB dynasty. Holy Fudge...
  9. So what? Does this loss not count in the pre-season? Out team just looked unprepared. What's our excuse? C
  10. At the Bye. I'd prefer week 3 or 4 so we can salvage the season.
  11. I am of the opinion, that what this team needs the owner won't be able to fulfill. They need to hire a Cowher or Shanahan and give him the keys to the kingdom. Or a real football guy and have him drive the football operations. I am continuously stunned as to how badly this team sucks and yet the owner thinks the FO is doing a "good job" and "we just don't have any talent." Hello? This team has talent it just isn't being utilized well. Put them in pads this week for starters and practice playing against the 3-4 look until the season opener. For starters... C
  12. This post and the associate replies gave me a real good laugh...especially the feet, pickles, whiz one...So thank you. I have nothing else to contribute. Carry on.
  13. I know it's only preseason, but the D especially the secondary was incredible tonight. And they were playing a pretty decent defensive team as well. The offense found it's rhythm a bit - but the QBs need to play more and think less. They need to trust their instincts.
  14. Maybe it's just me....I thought Trent had a much better outing tonight. However, I kinda feel the kid over thinks his throws. He too me isn't relying on his instincts and experience as much as he should. I wish he would play from his gut a bit more. To quote Stevie Ray Vaughn, "When I think about it, I screw it up." He did seem to have a bit more command in the huddle. And he was after guys to line up quick. I liked that. Fitz looked loads better. But I honestly think Hamdan is our best QB. The guys just seem to respond to him and he seems very confident. I'm glad Gibby and Trent are good friends, some of the chroise needs to rub off on Edwards. C
  15. I like Fisher. Sometimes he says/does classless things to get his team in the game. Especially when Baltimore was in the Division. He is a master motivator. But (and here comes the contradiction) in my opinion, he is a class coach and a good guy. I didn't have an issue with the play call. But I also think that play sent the message that it's open season on the Titans. We'll see.
  16. Oh and one more thing. I agree that Hamdan seems to have control and presence out there. I'd love to see him sometime this season in a game that meant something. I was a Fitz fan. But last night didn't inspire me to continue that support.
  17. Hey John always love reading your observations. I'll just disagree on the Fisher call. I just think they were having fun. Not trying to rub our noses in it or anything. But one thing about Fish, he always plays to win. That's why their team went 13-0 last season. And then we have our coaches, who can't even get our guys game fit. C
  18. Can someone explain to me how we have injuries up the wazoo every year when we run a "drill" based camp.
  19. I think most of us on this board are way past "panicking." We're at the stage of casually interested observers watching a train wreck we're powerless to stop. I'm sure there'll be folks here who'll post the obligatory "alright, where are the naysayers now" post sometime during the season. The moment we win 2 games in a row. But fundamentally watching last night's game didn't give me the sense anything has changed in the coaching or playing staff. You'd think there'd be some kind of fire lit under someone's butt...
  20. what he said...The thing is preseason or no, you would think the team would be jacked up having their owner *and* Bruce Smith in the HOF. But I saw very little emotion out of them. Wonder how they'll do when they're down 21 pts in a regular season game.
  21. I have been taking "deep breaths" Problem is I end up asphyxiating anyway...
  22. Though I don't think the team played "badly" as a whole. My main gripe with this team is that there is an utter lack of intensity and passion on both sides of the ball. When your rookies turn up the juice (ie. Nic Harris) in comparison to say your veteran D-line, it just speaks volumes as to how this team is coached. True, we didn't scheme and game plan. At least it looked like we didn't. What was disturbing is that, at least to me, their man beat up our man one on one almost every time. Be it our rookies or veterans. To me that says this team is just a "we'll try hard" group of guys and not a "we'll kick your a**" team. That ain't never gonna cut it in the NFL and definitely not in the rugged AFC East. After 4 years I think we deserve so much more. Don't you? C
  23. I don't know the details of this tragic event. At best, it looks like McNair exercised bad judgment and at worse, it looks like he exploited a girl barely out of her teens. She probably was just as happy to be with him regardless of his status. Though reports today indicate he told her he was divorcing his wife. I don't know if that was true. No divorce proceedings were filed in Nashville court where they live at least part time. Either way McNair was well loved in this community and did his share of giving back. But even recently it has been shown that he has been DUI. Proof that his judgment isn't the best. The first time they let him off on a technicality and the second time during the trial the cop's history was drug through the mud. This last time his presence in the Escalade wasn't even recorded in the affidavit. He was allowed to leave in a taxi. IMHO, if this was a non celebrity - the accommodation of his guilt and behavior would never have happened regardless of how much of a "good guy" the person was. Again, proof that society treats celebrities in ways that precludes them taking responsibility for their actions. There is no greater evidence of this than the Michael Jackson episode. Steve was a good guy and didn't deserve to be shot by anyone. I'm not sure if anyone he looked up to stepped in to say how his behavior may have been jeopardizing his health, safety and legacy. But young (or old) millionaires tend to not listen to advice even when it's good. Cause no one sets any boundaries for them when they have power, money, celebrity and influence. All this is very sad IMHO and could have been avoided. C
  24. What we know thus far is this per The Tennessean and Newschannel 5 in Nashville: 1) No struggle in apt. 2)Woman found was not his wife, Mechelle. 3) The woman's name is Sahel Kazemi, a 20 year old who co-owned a Black Escalade with Mr. McNair. 4) Said Escalade was involved in a DUI last week. 5) McNair died of multiple gun shot wounds. At least one to the head. Woman died of one gunshot. 6) There seems to be speculation the woman was his girlfriend. 7) AFAIK McNair is not divorced. More news here: http://tinyurl.com/lgmx9q
