Did Jim and Joe forget how to play in the off season? I know Schwartz didn't like to blitz, but I thought Rex did. We had success blitzing a lot the year before last. We also had a lot of success blizing Suck for Luck. But now it seems Rex likes to play soft prevent. I think it's both actually. Not taking advantage of our guys strengths, and some loafing.

I'd rather see them try to school up the refs and hold them accountable. If a ref blows an obvious call (s)he gets suspended for 4 games and to be re instated (s)he must pass a 100 question test on the rules to get back in. I'm also 100% behind Mr. WEO's idea of simplifying rules. I'd add, allow DBs to bump players wherever before the ball is thrown. Smart OCs can figure out what to do about it. Change a catch to catch it and get 2 feet down. Dump the whole "football move" and "process of the catch" nonsense. I prefer less replays to more. There's already too much standing around in football. We don't need more IMHO. ONE question for the OP. How can you challenge everything if you only get 2 challenges?

This an excellent point. If I recall correctly, we made a lot of stpid penalties last year as well.

Depending on who else is available I'd give him a shot. Bring him in, go through OTSs, camp etc. We're desperate. What do we have to lose? If he sucks, cut him.

I just saw the end of the Cardinals/Ravens game. Ravens get ball down by 8. Arizona, as I've seen them do several times before, blitzes heavily on almost every play and guess what, game ends when Joe throws a pick. Why didn't we do this to second year QB Blake Bortles, running the 30th best offense in the league? Our D playing soft against chumps is mind boggling to me.

Because we aren't slowing down the WRs/TEs/etc at the line and the QB is getting it out fast. The WRs are always open because our DBs are giving them a 10 yard cushion. And Rex is having the line drop back in coverage. I see a lot of plays (some yesterday) where some of the DL don't charge the QB but instead hang back at the LOS. And, we aren't blitzing very much. We blitzed the peejeebers out of Suck for Luck with great success. The one time we got a good blitz on Bortles he threw a pick 6. Were the safeties covering well on that play? Didn't look like Graham was covering anybody. That's what I think. It's definitely not because of the safeties IMHO. It's a bad plan by Rex and Dennis. Let the guys do what they do well and stop trying to bee too fancy.

How so? If Dalton couldn't find anyone open for 9 seconds, somebody was covering the receivers I would think. I'm having a hard time seeing how sloppy arm tackling by safeties have to do with the pass rush? So, the pass rush is the same as last year except now our safeties can't cover or tackle?

I suppose, but the 3rd down conversion where we had 3 guys rush sort of and the linebackers all stay put 3 yards behind LOS giving Dalton 10 seconds to throw the football seems to indicate a different cause. This would seem to indicate that LBs or safeties had their guys covered pretty well. Was Searcy that good? But thanks for the explanation anyway.

I didn't start watching until we were already behind 27-3 because the game started at 6:30 my time. Then I could either watch it in low def which looked like I had found an old VCR tape from the 70s and was watching it, or watch it in Hi Def and have it jump due to buffering. Looks like we did get a little better rush, not much. What about the rest of the games? Safeties sucked in those games too. Please explain your self. It may be obvious to you, but to some of us it's not. I'm having a hard time understanding how sucky safeties causes the DL that led the league in sacks over the last 2 years is now getting little to no sacks due to poor safety play. Help a Bills brother out.

The season when we fired Dick and went with Perry was pretty dark. Rex has the same career record as HC of the Bills as does Perry by the way.

Like I said earlier I think it's part of the CBA that says the players have to get time off. We DID get the football back after the D held the Patsies** to a FG and Hotrod promptly threw a pick on the 1st play.

The troubling nuance to this loss is the one that hasn't been mentioned yet. Yes we did get it to within 5 and then 8 with masterful QB play by Tyrod. Then what? We got the football and on the first play, Tyrod chokes and throws a pick. Game over. When we really needed him to come through ... That's why to me its just a loss. No brownie points for getting close.
