  1. I'm kinda thinking LB/WR with the first 2. If they trade down which I really think they'll be trying to do, then I think they'll go LB/QB/WR. I just can't see the Bills going anything but DE/LB at 8 with all the great players there at that point and the lack of any top QB/WR's. The time to grab a QB or a WR is late first or early 2nd.
  2. I never compared him to Rodgers I just provided an example of a QB who got hit a lot and still played well. You could say the same thing for Vick, he gets hammered, but his level of play is relatively consistent. Kolb seems like a tough guy that can take hits and play well unlike someone like Trent Edwards.
  3. I never once compared Kolb to Rodgers, I just said that Rodgers was the most sacked QB and he still managed to be the best QB in the league. Kolb seems to be a pretty tough guy and I think he can take a beating better than most.
  4. No real loss. I guess I would've like the Bills to sign him cheap but there was nothing about him that was really appealing to me.
  5. Aaron Rodgers was sacked more than any other QB this season and he seems to be ok. It all comes down to toughness. All these guys are tough, including guys like Trent, but some of these guys can take the hits better than others. I would think someone like Kolb can take hits with the best of them.
  6. There are much better crutches than McClain. Think of him the same way everyone here thinks of Maybin.
  7. The guy just does not seem like a top 10 prospect to me. He's a very raw player and definitely needs to have some work done. There are better receivers in this draft than him.
  8. McLain ruined himself. Unless he miraculously turned his life around there's no way in hell I'd want him. All this talk reminds me of how Ryan Leaf got picked up by a few teams thinking they could utilize all that talent.
  9. I don't know, I just see Minter as a younger Nick Barnett. Solid player, but not a top 10 pick. If we traded down and got him then I'd be all for it, just not at 8.
  10. I see us going DE/OLB at 8 with the possibility of taking some star player like Millner or Warmack. If not we're trading down. I just really can't see us taking a safety at 8 unless they really thought they found the next Troy Polamalu.
  11. The 2002, 2003, and 2007 drafts all had no franchise QB's and plenty more had only one player turn out. It's not like you're guaranteed a franchise QB. If you look at a lot of these drafts, only the QB drafted number 1 overall turns out and more often than not you need a top 10 talent to have a starter. We can try to get lucky in the 2nd or 3rd this year and try to find our Andy Dalton in someone like Nassib or diamond in the rough like Matt Scott, but besides possibly Geno Smith, I don't know if there's any franchise QB's this year.
  12. He actually requested that there be no guaranteed money.
  13. Ya, we're definitely not done yet in free agency. We sill have Jenkins coming in for a visit and I definitely see us signing a wide receiver, tight end, guard, linebacker, or defensive back. I'd think we either go out and sign one more big player like Dansby or 2-3 "smaller" players.
  14. DHB was just signed yesterday and people like Brandon Moore and Karlos Dansby are still floating around. Just because you aren't picked up early doesn't mean you're a bad player.
  15. A starter to let the rookie develop or a starter to postpone drafting a QB another year when there's actually good 1st round talent at QB.
  16. We still have a lot of free agency left and the draft. I highly doubt Marrone is "down" with this roster for the season.
  17. Some players play fine with characters issues like the ones you named but some don't. See McLain who was lauded as one of the safest choices and Ryan Leaf for people who didn't turn out. There is no rule that character issues translate to bad players just as there's no rule that character issues translate to good players, it just depends on the guy and the issues. The fact is, there are better and "safer" players to take at eight than Ogletree. If the Bill's interview him and don't take issue with his personality and he turns out to be great than awesome, but it is an issue that can't just be ignored.
  18. When you have people like Rolando Mclain it makes you think twice about these things.
  19. His 17 sack season was when he was playing a mix of 34 OLB and 43 DE. i didn't really think anything of the Bills signing him but he would actually be a perfect fit in our system. Some Steelers fan was saying that he is best in a 34 defense
  20. The Pats cut him even though he offered to take a paycut. Just not worth it at all.
  21. I'd love him but I doubt he'll come cheap. If we did get him and then drafted another linebacker we'd be pretty much all set on defense with the exception of maybe another defensive back.
  22. This is what I was thinking. He finished the season with a better QB rating than Fitz despite his o-line and he has been better than Fitz throughout his career. I would be happy picking him up and waiting a year to draft a QB when there's a better batch.
  23. I'm feelin an 8-8 season too. Players have to learn a new scheme and QB is still a question mark. I do feel that the next few years the Bills will finally resurface as competitors.
  24. The Pats system is based on mismatches. They have large fast tight ends because they create mismatches. Having a linebacker cover them is hard because they're faster and having a db cover them is hard because of their size. Then they have a small quick slot receiver who is hard to cover and can make the catches for short gains.
  25. Great interview. Really loved the part at the end about the FitzScream. As glad as I am that were moving on from him. I am gonna miss the guy. Wish he could have stayed on as a backup but this is for the best.
