Watkins has been having a good rookie season. Beckham has been having an outstanding season by any measure. I don't think trading up for Sammy is some huge disaster or something and I think they will be similar talents and Watkins could easily have the better career, but Beckham has been what we wanted Sammy to be this season.
Hackett likes to have him in to stretch the field and draw safety coverage away. Plus he is a good receiver. We still have Easley on the team and he missed two straight years on IR.
When was the last time the bills won three games in a row.
Edit: I was genuinely curious about this so I looked it up and it was back in 2011 when we beat the Chiefs (7-9), Raiders (8-8), and Pats (13-3) in the first three weeks.
If we had an o-line on par with what dallas has we'd be one of the best teams in the league. With solid run blockers opening up wholes for Freddy and CJ we'd actually be able to be a run first team like we were supposed to be and we'd be a dominant one. Instead we're stuck with Marrone outsmarting himself and Hackett unable to put together a solid rushing attack despite having two pro bowl caliber running backs. I'm fine with a lot of what Marrone's done and I think he is a good enough head coach to succeed in the nfl but I place all our offensive line woes on him and for that I wouldn't mind seeing him gone at the end of the season.
I mean the guy averaged six yards per carry, he can run the ball. I see him the same way as I see Lesean McCoy who is also struggling with just 2.9 ypc this season. These guys need some solid run blocking and if they get it they are at the top of the league. Without it they just run into the line and get stuffed.
God that was a great win against a great team but let's not get too optimistic. The Bills offense still only managed one touchdown which only evened the score with the pick 6. We still had a lot of trouble moving the ball down the field and while out defense looked dominant and had a phenomenal game, the Lions were without their best player.
I want the Bills to trade CJ just so he can excel on another team. It just seems like such a waste watching him run into the line for one yard over and over again.
It'll be a tough game and to be honest I don't really expect the Bills to win it but I wouldn't be too surprised if they did. The Lions are the number 1 defense in the nfl and their d-line will wreck our o-line.
Half our starters weren't even playing. The 80 yard Antonio Brown touchdown was caused by Duke Williams and Corey Graham running into each other, neither of them are starters.
Jesus its just a preseason game. We don't even have our starting o-line set and our two starting receivers weren't even playing for most of the time. We gave up two touchdowns and one was caused by our backup safety bumping our backup corner. Besides our red zone woes and some frustrating playcalling I've seen about what I've expected from the Bills today. EJ doesn't look like he'll be able to carry the team but he looked good enough that I think we can win with him.
