Upcoming Week's Jack-in-the-Box Play
Whites Bay replied to Whites Bay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ENOUGH!!! ENOUGH!!! ENOUGH!!! Okay! I promise. I'll never NEVER use the word "exotic" on this fuggin' board again! Jesus fuggin' christ. I wrote the goddamn post this morning in Berlin at about 2:00 in the morning your time (EDT), and came back from work and Jesus friggin' christ look what you goddamn inbred goobers did to my post! SCHIT! It's not like I start a lot of posts! It's fuggin' "Unorthodox". Not "exotic". Not "erotic". Not "sadomasochistic". Not "animal husbandry". Sheesh. It's like I left the building and the goddamn inmates took over the asylum. Jesus. -
Two weeks ago I almost fell out of my seat with the fake field goal/touchdown to Denney. This past week I was 100% certain that Fewell would call the blindside CB blitz with The Sheik, and I was dead-on. This coming week against the Raiders....well, here's my guess: Reverse to Parrish. Follows a Hardy block (if Hardy plays, otherwise it'll be an Evans block) and picks up at least 20. They pulled that one out of the hat a couple of times last year, and it's usually a success. What gimmickery do you think Fewell or Schonert will pull on Sunday?

Charlie Casserly's article on CBS Sportsline
Whites Bay replied to The Dean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Read that, and I think you're right when saying "there isn't anything here that an informed Bills fan doesn't already know". It makes me realize that we live in a very focused bubble within this community, and are far ahead of the power curve in terms of (a) immediate information from local reporters (or so we hope) and (b) interpretation thereof. Casserly's piece is....well, nice, I guess. I'm of two minds. Yes, I like seeing that the Bills are starting to get some props, but, golly, the team has a long way to go. It's a 16-game season, last I checked. My opinion means nothing, of course, but it's refreshing that the team members (from what I can read of the interviews) are taking the same approach. Next week is next week. Bring the lunch pail. -
Gosh. I miserably post that I'm up to my eyeballs in Kool-Aid. I'm starting to really REALLY believe this team should beat the living snot out of the Raiders. I have no deep-seated bias against the Raiders; pounding them like a $3 whore in the AFC Title Game was fun back in 1990 (yes, I was there. Were you?). But I really have no animosity against this house errant. As such, Jesus, I'm going out on a limb with my hopes and fears and thinking that FOR ONCE the Bills are truly going to beat Oakland senseless. In the words of the Blue Meanie: "Kill Them! Crush Them! Destroy Them................Oblueterate them....."

You know, the thing with Clayton is that he looks like such a goddamn mouth-breather that you have to take him seriously. I mean, it defies logic that anyone could LOOK so stupid and still BE so off-base (repeatedly) without having been bred out of the gene pool about 14 generations ago. As such, there's an inherent nature in all of us - linked to the 10th chromosome - that says "Hmm. That's a long time! Inbreeding should have taken care of that, but it didn't. As such, I should probably pay attention to this entity, because its very existence is testimony to its survival". And we get sucked in each time. Oh, wait....he's on again..........

My apologies. The sarcasm detector was numbed by the Shiraz. Must work on that.....

Some of my own thoughts

Sorry. Just noticed your "bold" on "The Sheik". This thread was covered about two years ago. Baby Snakes! -
Some of my own thoughts
Whites Bay replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, no. It's not worth my time to go back into the archives and find all the Pro-Sheik posts that I've written. Half of them were vaporized in the "Crash of 08" anyway. I knew he'd be good, and I don't mind saying it. I just didn't know he'd HIT this hard. Give credit where credit is due. Not to me, but to Yobouty. Am I overwhelmed by Yobouty's ball-hawking skills? Hell no. But that kid hits hard. It's like having another safety out there, and on the CB blitz he was a light linebacker. -
The bong claims another brain cell.

Some of my own thoughts
Whites Bay replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really. Honestly, I can't believe they fell for it. A lot of crap has been foisted on The Sheik for 3 years, but - boy oh boy- he's hitting like a ton of bricks out there. Truly. He's not getting a lot of coverage - which is appropriate at this point. The Bills have only won two games. But that son-of-a-gun is going to field tackle some receiver and send him out on a cart, and just watch the headlines roll. I'm not saying in any way, shape, manner or form that he's a headhunter. Don't misinterpret that statement. But that kid hits like tomorrow doesn't matter. -
I have a really wild imagination. Too wild, I suppose, and it's cost me over the years. But I can't for the life of me imagine that to which you're referring with: "Flutie" Erudite, I admit. But please expand.

Some of my own thoughts
Whites Bay replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm going to say it because - goddamn it - I was right in my own mind. I knew....KNEW....they were going to throw "The Sheik" CB blindside blitz this week. They hammered it twice in preseason, and to Fewell's credit, they didn't wing it at the She-hawks last weekend. In other words, they didn't feel like they had to throw EVERYTHING-but-the-kitchen-sink in their first match up. I just KNEW they were going to do that, and The Sheik is one big fella. Christ, he hit Garrard like a bus. That guy didn't stand a chance. The Sheik is like a linebacker in that position, and tackles like a silverback ape. What the hell is going on with this team? Imagination! Creativity! Unorthodoxy! Heresy! Fade to Camera 3 in Foxboro........"Oh, schit" -
Davis was inducted into the HOF somewhere around 15 years ago, I think. As goes the saying "There's no accounting for taste". It's common knowledge on the TSW that Ralph Wilson bailed Davis' sorry butt out of a jam long before most posters on this forum were born. Why he's not in the HOF probably comes down to the fact that.........well, you know what? I could post the usual crap about the CBA, but, golly, someone give me a REALLY good reason?!?!
-
This being the NFL, I just don't see ANY easy wins. Remember Detroit (what was it....) 2 years ago? Zero wins until Buffalo...and they hammered the Bills. Denver last year? Dallas last year? I don't start to relax until there are about 5 minutes left to go until the end of the game and the Bills are up by about three scores. This having been said, yeah......the thought of actually taking the Division crown is starting to creep into my thoughts. Shades of a long time ago.

Have any of you used NFL.com Game Pass?
Whites Bay replied to Whites Bay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As for New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, my recommendations burst forthwith as regards anything by Daniel Schuster. If we ever get together face-to-face, I'd love to relate a tale involving an Aussie friend of mine and a wine tour in the South Island. Schuster's "Mt. Nelson" Sauvignon Blanc is beyond "memorable". It's truly a signature wine for that grape. I know it's probably out of vogue to get hot and bothered about Sauvignon Blanc, but let's face it - there's always a "Best". Schuster's is the "Best". Went with the GamePass HD for $24.99. Screw it. If I can find a way that I can get "off-line" streaming with little difficulty, I'd do it. I just ran out of time. If the Bills had lost, I'd be REALLY pissed at forking over the cash. (That's a note to the NFL trolls who are checking these threads - don't think you've won yet.). What a win. Time for bed here in Berlin. Next week is back at the lake, under normal circumstances. -
Bills vs. Jags Official Gameday Thread

Will James... did Jags sign him for Bills info?
Whites Bay replied to Boatdrinks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dating myself here, but - as my Dad used to say (a long time ago) - "That and ten cents will get you uptown". Ruminate on it. Any information provided by James over 3 months will be overwhelmed by information provided by Stroud over 6 months. -

Have any of you used NFL.com Game Pass?
Whites Bay replied to Whites Bay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cool. Thanks, Peter. So, that's all it takes? Just plugging the Visa card into the box and it works? I'd love HD, and might spend the extra bucks, but I'm just watching it on a laptop, and the extra resolution would likely be lost on this piece-of-crap screen. So....that's it? Just let 'er rip? -

Hey Kiwi. For the Philistines on this board, let me be the first to say that there is some AMAZING Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir coming out of the South Island. It isn't all restricted to the Marlborough Sound. Serious stuff. Of course, that doesn't get us any closer to the Bills game in 18 hours and 42 minutes, but it DOES numb the pain of missing it. -
Hey all. Thanks to those who tried to set me up with a sports bar in Berlin. If anyone's interested, the "Playoff" sports bar in the Arkade on Alte Potsdammerstrasse in the Potsdammerplatz carries NASN. That's the good news. The bad news is that NASN's only games tomorrow are (1) Colts/Vikes and (2) Favres/ACLs. Neither of which do ME a lot of good. Justintv is showing an apologetic blurb something to the effect that "The NFL is going to put me in a hot, bamboo-lined box if I don't stop infringing on their trademarks." Stoogetv seems to be focused on the NBA, on which I gave up once I left Salt Lake City. To that end, it looks like I'm going to be purchasing "Game Pass" from NFL.com. As best I can understand the website, it's going to cost me $20 (okay, $19.99, but I'm in marketing and understand the $0.01) to watch the game. I can handle that. What I want to know is whether any of you have used Game Pass, and what do you think? It seems like it's as easy as "Plug in my Visa Card and give you all my credit information and rights to my next-born and you get to watch a grainy game on your laptop in a hotel room in Germany like any other loser who has no life while in Berlin". Or something like that. Who's used this service, and what has been your experience?

some food for thought about opening day victories
Whites Bay replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, most definitely nervous. Or perhaps I'm merely projecting. I just can't fuggin' wait until Sunday 1300h EDT. I still don't know how I'm going to watch this game over here in Berlin, but GODDAMN IT, I'm going to find a way. -
One Last Seattle review... Then on to Jax
Whites Bay replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good points, Big Mac, and further to the point of the topic - "On to Jax". The pressure up the middle by the D-line was most gratifying, but that was last week. The coaches have already picked apart every weakness they can find in Jacksonville's potential game plan, and the game we see this week will have significant differences from the game in Buffalo last Sunday. Different venue, different weather, different strengths to be exercised, different weaknesses to be exploited. Count on it. I'm guessing the coaching staff had this sort of eventuality laid out back in August..."If we do well here, let's roll in Play X, Y, and Z". Del Rio will see some different looks this week, trust me. The mark of a great team is putting "last week" into "last week", win or lose, and playing this week like it's a new season opener. Let's see what the Bills bring to the table. Bills 24-10. Bills pull away from Jacksonville in the fourth quarter, and it's Lynch, Lynch, Lynch. Have a bad day.
