Spurrier was an Offense mad scientist as well. Just because you can put up points in college doesn't mean you can HC at the next level. That's like saying "Well I'm pretty good at being a cop, maybe I'll try my luck joining the Army and going to Ranger school." They're two different creatures. Pete Carrol is a horrible NFL HC but great at banging college chicks so he stays at USC. With the rare exception these guys should come to the NFL as cord. first before taking over a franchise that expects you to win now. I would love Mike Leach as an OC or even AsstHC but we can't turn this mess over to someone who's never done this before. It would be like giving a soup sandwich to Edward Scissorhands and expecting him finish his meal.

Well I don't drink my Bong water but to be honest if I were a SB winning HC and potential future HoFer, then yes, yes I would come to Buffalo. I'm not some fanboy here who is all giddy with excitement about the possibility of BC here, I'm being sincere. I think guys like BC are driven by challenges and when a man who is still as young as Cowher and has accomplished what he has, well then I think he looks for new challenges. Bill Cower is a legend in Pitt or at least he will be at some point but if he can come in to Buffalo and bring a Champ here, he will go from legend to God and a sure-fire 1st ballot HOF.

I understand that and agree, where you and I differ in opinion is that I think it's more important to the franchise to get a franchise MLB who has the potential to be one of the best at his position as opposed to the second or third best OT out there. Now if somehow Okung falls to us then I say grab him. He is to the OT position what McClain is to the ILB one. My point is this: We can have THE TOP PLAYER AT A POSITION OF NEED. How can you pass that up?

Wow another one with a head on his shoulders. I thought I was one of only a few that thought McClain was a perfect fit for our needs PLUS he should be there when we draft. It's fate. Move Poz to the outside with Mitchell and McClain in the middle if we decide to stay with the 43.

Good question. If McCoy is still on the board when we pick then I'd be happy with either although I think We are closer to being set on the DL then we are at LB so I think McClain would be my choice. Although it would be VERY hard to pass up McCoy. I guess it depends on the scheme we'll be running because McCoy is built for a 4-3 and we may or may not be running that next year.

I'd rather we take the best player in the draft not named Suh then the third best OT or 2nd best QB, that's just me though. McClain has the potential to be the next Willis or Beason or in best case scenario Ray Lewis. I agree we need an OT just as importantly, however I think the talent dropoff after Okung is somewhat severe once again JMO. We could pick up Fox out of the U in the second and get Tony Pike in the third. I'd be very happy with that draft.

It gives us a shot at McClain. IMO ILB is just as much a need as any add on top of that if we go OT or QB in that range we are getting eiter the second or third best at those positions. McClain gives us the best at his. He could be a Patrick Willis type LB of the future for us.

I say we just give the job to Borat. He can't do much worse then his predecessors. That AND he's a big name.

I agree, I know it's just a fantasy but I'd like the new HC to employ the 3-4 and draft Brandon Spikes in the second, move Maybin to OLB as well as pick up Osi and move him to OLB. Sign Jolly from GB ( I think he's a great fit in the 3-4) and move Stroud to the other DE spot and maybe pick up Tony Brown from Ten. to play NT. So we'd have a DL that looked like this: Jolly Brown Stroud. LB's would look like this: Maybin and Osi OLB, Poz and Spikes at MLB. OR We could draft McClain in the first. That, to me is more ideal and have McClain and Poz in the middle. I like it and like I said it's just a fantasy... BTW I KNOW THE OFFENSE NEEDS UPGRADING MORE THEN THE DEFENSE so please don't throw that out there. I say McClain in the first or Spikes in the second and spend the rest of the draft fixing our OT and QB spots.

Just shut it Mr. Optimistic, I'm just as much of a cynic as anyone but you do realize that at some point we will be bringing in new players either via FA or the draft. Yes I'm with you when it comes to getting a GM and HC first, only a moron would see it differently. However I was just asking if anyone thought he'd be worth a shot... Get over yourself Doc, your so confident that your version is the trooth that you instantly slam anyone on this board who says anything that you don't want to talk about or agree with. It's old, it's boring and no one cares.
