This is the only scenario in which I think we pass on McClain....

McClain is quite possibly the next top MLB in the NFL, how could anyone want to pass that up? I understand that QB and LT are huge needs for this team but drafting for need over talent is EXACTLY what got us into the mess we are in. We've passed on guys like Ngata in the past simply because we needed a SS more then a DT at the time, it's a pretty dumb way to run a draft don't you think? I don't think Nix is a dumb guy so I'm not expecting this trend to continue. If the next Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis is on the board at 9 you take him, especially if we'll be looking at the 2nd or 3rd best LT on the board in comparison. If Okung is there at 9 then I say it's a toss up but anyone else would be a travesty to choose over McClain.

+1 We need someone with Shockey's arrogance and swagger, I'm all for the humble hard working guy and I think that's what it takes to build a championship team, however I think players like Shockey need to be "sprinkled" in with the crowd for at the very least, a morale booster. I was just thanking Jauron and Co. for putting together a potentially very good secondary and saying that I felt bad that such a nice guy sucks so bad and has so many that dislike him. Yes it almost definitely is. Why else would they show the scene with Jack looking at his hickey in the mirror? Foreshadowing is my guess. But to what? My guess is they are going to sacrifice quite a bit i.e. possible death for the whole crew in order to save the Island and as a reward the universe hits the reset button back in 1977 when Juliet hits the nuke therefore putting the island in the drink and letting the rest of the world going on with there business. When grading out the currant team we have I would say that after giving our secondary some thought and an honest opinion. I grade them out at about a B+ - A- but here's the thing, an A- secondary easily gets bumped up to an A+ with a pass rush. And a pass rush that has a secondary as good as ours will be even that more hungry to annihilate opposing QB's. If we can just get the type of pressure on QB's that the Jets do then we can have our own Darrell Revis in McKelvin. I know most fans know the coalition between the pass rush and secondary play but for those that don't? Well, guys we have 1/2 of what could be a #1 defense here and now we are going to start to build a front 7 that should play well in hand with whats already here. This is an exciting time to be a Bills fan. Seriously, it is. Good moves left and right abound and we can only believe that those same good decisions will carry over to FA and Drafting. I haven't felt this good about what's to come for the Bills literally ever, ever thats right I said it-ever. I was 7 when the Bills drafted Bruuuuuce so I wasn't able to follow as closely due to being a child, and finally I starting to pay close attention around 88-89. Well I was just thinking since Edwards has coached Spikes his whole career at Florida that he may put in a good word, I'm sure they all ready have a good relationship.

Anyone think that we may now be targeting Spikes in the late first or second? A trade down to the mid 20's could land him, then we can go after OT and NT in the second round and QB in the 3rd.
