I would like to ML and Dj trade into the middle of the first and take Puz from PSU and then see if they can package what they get in that trade or something from the Willis trade to get Turner...if they cant make a deal for Turner prior to thier first rd 2 pick then i say take Tony Hunt from PSU...he is a solid player and a stand-up guy. I think he would fit in well with Thomas...I just dont want that thief Pittman from OSU. If anyone wants me to let them know why I think he is a thief I will gladly tell you...just let me know.

We are now at, where we feared we would be

I think that shipping out Willis was a good move and one that could not have come soon enough. In terms of replacing him, its much easier than people seem to think. According to DJ the Bills want to be a two back system, meaning A. Thomas and another back (C. Brown, or Draft one...I like Hunt from PSU). If we can have two guys run for 1200-1500 yds then losing Willis is a wash. Plus, the guy hated Buffalo it wasnt his style and thats fine move on. Losing Fletcher hurts because of the Leadership, not the stats. I know he tackled everything but it was usually after a gain of 3,4, or 5 yds. NC, in my opinion is way overrated. He is certainly not a top 3 corner in this league. I will conceede that he is a top 10 but not $80 mil thats just way too much. Replacing London in terms of tackles will not be hard...anyone who plays an agressive attacking MLB will be an upgrade on the field, the Leadership now falls to Crowell and Schobel who I hope will thrive. Replacing NC in the Cover 2 isnt that bad either. We have some stud safties to help out McGee, Ki. Thomas, Greer and Youboty plus whoever we take in probably the third round of the draft. The signing of Dockery, Walker, and Whittle is a huge upgrade. The RT spot since Peters went over to the left side was a problem and Walker will help that. I know they called him a Turnstyle in OAK but what did OAK do right as a team last year? They only scored like 6 offensive TDs...it was more than just this guy. I think that if DJ and ML went out and signed him first day to the 5/25mil he must at least have ton of potential and McNally can work some wonders (Peters). I think that at this point right now this has been an above average offseason for the Bills in comparison to years past. We landed some top name FA on day one, we resigned the vital role players and we released some aging vets along with some disgruntled names. We ceratinly are not the biggest loser (see Cincinnati) or the biggest winner (see probably NE as much as it pains me to say that). Above average in my opinion. For the record I am hoping for a trade down to the early 20's drafting either Willis or Pusluzny and then Hunt, Walker or Irons in the second round and a CB in the 3rd. GO BILLS -
If the Cleveland Browns signed David Carr then they would sure up the QB spot and that would allow them to take Peterson at No. 3. Also, they could trade back with a team looking to swipe Calvin Johnson if he is still available. What does everyone think? Tha would also be good for the Bills because then we wouldn't be tempted to take an injury prone player...

Double Trade Down If AP's there--
The Cincinnati Kid replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
20. Willis 43. Hunt 47. Gonzalez 74. Davis 81. Chandler 92. Yanda 107. Beekman I think that this fills most of our holes with players that can play in our systems and in the roles we need to fill. -
For all the "Safety at #8" haters out there
The Cincinnati Kid replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whitner is a solid player back there at SS and teamed with Simpson we could have one of the best Safety tandems in the league in a year or two. I loved the pick because we were going SS all the way. It was either going to be Huff who did okay in Oakland (but who does well there?) or Whitner and I think it was admirable of MArv and the brain trust to trust their stuff and stick to their guns. I like Whitner and I think that while we may have been able to get him later, circumstances probably prevented it (you know sometimes trade talks to trade down dont work so you just have to take your player). -
I think that while there are plenty of guys like him, it is important to retain your own guys for continuity purposes as long as they are not asking for too much money. Thomas will be affordable and is a quality player that could start until Youboty is ready by mid-season.

Drew Bledsoe cut by Cowboys

NE doesnt have any class. -
I have a friend in Cleveland who went to get Ginn, Smith and Pittman's autograph at a sports store. He said that the newspaper advertisement mentioned that they would signing autographs after a small purchase. Long story short in addition to buying something from the store these three dicks wanted money for each item signed (Ginn and Smith $10 and Pittman $50). My friend asked what charity the money was going to and they said it was for personal use. That is why I hate The Ohio State University.

in the grand scheme of things
The Cincinnati Kid replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with Pyrite Gal. You have done an excellent job of explaining what it means to run a cover 2 defense that many people are over-looking. We have other needs that will be more worth our 30 million dollars than NC. He is good, IMO not nearly a top 5 corner, more like a 10, 11, or 12 in the league but his money demands and the things he wants to do cannot be done in Perry's D. Youboty and McGee are the guys along with (hopefully) Thomas and we will be more than fine at the CB positions because of our Stud Safties and the scheme. -
Champ Bailey, Ronde Barber, Chris Gamble, Asante Samuels, DeAngelo Hall, Deltha O'Neal, Chris McAlister, Shawn Springs, Patrick Surtain, Ty Law, Lito Sheppard, and Terrence Newman. They are all better than NC. They all make more plays, INTs and are better leaders than NC. Feel free to disagree but we aren't losing a Top 5 CB we are losing a Top 15 CB which is NOT that big of a deal espcially with Youboty (who didnt play because of ST not because he wasnt good enough) waiting in the wings with Thomas (who I believe we will resign) and our stud safties.

Possibly losing 4 defensive starters

1 Bailey 2 Barber 3 Gamble 4 Samuels 5 D. Hall 6 D. O'neal 7 McAlister 8 Springs 9 Surtian 10 Sheppard 11 Law 12 Newman 13/14 Harper 14/13 Clements 15 McKenzie Any of the guys above Harper would be an instant upgrade over NC and if you dont think so then you dont know football. -
Nate Clements getting big money
The Cincinnati Kid replied to K-Gun10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just wait see my man. Youboty is a stud even tho he couldnt break the game-day roster. That was more of a special teams move than a Defense move. Thomas will be back becasue he isnt going to get a good pay day in FA and he has an opportunity to start in Buffalo. Clements might be our best defensive player but he isnt a guy worth breaking the bank for. He is a luxury that we dont need to pay for anymore with the new defense that we play. Plus there is always a corner that can come in a play the nickel or dime either in FA or day 2 of the draft. I see this as no big deal. Similar to losing Winfield a few years ago. There were questions about McGee and everything has worked out fine. Remember that the Cover 2, Tampa 2 is a defense where the secondary HELPS eachother out A LOT. Whitner and Simpson are stud safties and will be able to make up for little mistakes made by corners. They will all be in thier second seasons with Perry and Jouron...Life will be good in the Secondary in 2007 minus NC. -

The only starter on D that I care about losing is Kelsey. He is the only one with an upside that is in our range. If we lose London fine, there are a ton of MLBs out there plus Crowell and company including Wire who was just re-singed to fill that smallish void. London never attacked enough anyway. 150 tackles...8 for losses. Yay! He was great for Buffalo while he was here but its time to move on. Clements isn't worth the money he'll get. He is a top 15 corner but probably no better than 12th. Youboty, Thomas, and McGee will be fine. Some "experts" had Youboty as a first round choice last year, including Kiper I believe. He only dressed once but it was because he missed training camp and therefore never got onto the specialties. As a third or fourth corner you got to be on the specialties units. TKO is alright but again no harm no foul at the LB positions. We have lots of good young talent plus the draft where we will certainly take at least one LB. The biggest concern right now for the Bills is to protect JP, open holes for Willis, and stopping the run. McCargo comes back this season and will be able to make a splash in his second year in the Bigs. Kelsey and Schobel are the bookends of that defense and can eliminate the need to blitz in passing situations if can retain Kelsey. That is who are focus should be on IMHO. -
Nate Clements getting big money
The Cincinnati Kid replied to K-Gun10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Losing Clements is not a big deal. He is a shut down corner who wants lots of money and we play a Tampa 2 Defense which requires decent corners and better than ok safties. Thomas, McGee, and Youboty are all more than capable of being above average corners in a Tampa 2 D. Its all about help defense in the secondary. We will be fine without Clements who will be overpaid where ever he goes because it is a down market for corners. -
McGahee to the Lions
The Cincinnati Kid replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Willis. I think that he is the best back that we are going to have for a while. He hasnt lived upto his potential but there are other reasons for that...TD and MM wanted him playing at around 20 pounds more than he did in college and running more inside and making holes...that coaching messed with him a bit because now he dances before hitting a hole...at the U he would hit the hole or bounce it outside if it wasnt there he'll get back to that form I am sure of it. He lost some weight before last season and I am going to bet that he loses some more for this upcoming season. In addition to the foolishness of TD and MM he hasn't had the same dominating line that he played behind at the U. Its hard to run for 1500 yards in the NFL behind a suspect line. The qb situation didnt help him either. Now that JP has cemented himself as the Buffalo Bills quarterback for years to come I think that Willis will benefit from a guy who he is used to playing with and practicing with day in and day out. JP, Evans and Willis can definatly be the "triplets" that propelled some teams to SuperBowl wins and losses in the early 90's. (Aikman, Smith, Irvin...even tho its kills me to even think about those guys...and Kelly, Reed, and Thomas...) Go Bills! -
We need a guy that is 6'4 or taller to go over the middle and go for the jump ball in the endzone. We dont need another 5'10" guy the fly past dbs. We got those guys already.

Bellichek is an a-hole. He will do anything to gain an advanage on a team...even sending the division rival's punter on a fake punt in an all star game. BB is a sick man. You know he called hoping something like that hit would happen. He was hoping that Moorman would get jacked up so that one of the Bills best special teamers might not be on the field against the Pats next season. The guy is twisted.

Mel Kiper's Latest Projections
The Cincinnati Kid replied to nichebiche's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We trade down...Okoye is too young in my opinion...might be a great player but 19 in the NFL doesnt work..ie Clarrett. Our best bet to get the most out of this draft is to trade down into the mid 20s and take and ILB and gain another 2nd or 3rd round choice. This is the only way the Bills will get the most bang for their buck. I wouldnt be shocked if we hung around and took Branch though. -
The NFL shows are all the same...I am guilty of watching all the time but as I continue to study the game in my pursuit of becoming a head coach at some level higher than Pop Warner, I find that the so-called "experts" are idiots...espcially Irvin and Mel Kiper. Kiper is probably the biggest moron of them all. He was bashing the Bills for drafting Whitner, McCargo, Youbouty and Simpson...all of whom could have gone as high as the first round and all of whom will be contributors for the Bills if they already aren't. This year the mock drafts have the Bills taking TEs and CBs which in my opinion are not needs even if we lose Nate C. These guys don't do their homework they just throw out whatever they think with nothing to back it up. Screw them all! GO BILLS Jaws is right...the sleeper team of 2007 is the Bills who are finally going to circle the wagon for the first time since the 1960s and win a Championship in Western NY. JP and Evans will lead the way...

Reasons Why We Can Beat San Diego
The Cincinnati Kid replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills can win because they are an up and coming team who believe in each other. They are starting to trust each other and the new coaching staff. JP loves the new O-line, and those guys will do anything to keep him off his back, the recievers and JP are getting synced up, the D is always keeping up in the game. We got a shot, it will be a good game. I am excited to watch on Sunday.
