  1. ever since Rex was hired there's been a narrative that Whaley's top choice was Hue Jackson while the Pegulas loved Rex. I and others have believed it to be the case the whole time Rex has been here. Not saying its definitely the case but there's nothing new or hindsight about it.
  2. One thing I feel the Bills need are standards, expectations. To be a Bill means you're expected to do this this and this, on and off the field all year long. With Marrone Hughes would do one dumb thing and would be pulled. Rex lets Mario dance on the field all year and does nothing. Marrone had this corny thing about 'what it means to be a Bill.' A lot of successful sports organizations have that same focus on creating a standard of expectation- it was not a focus under Rex. Maybe, just maybe I have no idea, McDermott can bring quiet accountability with a realness and relatability that Marrone may have lacked.
  3. John's whispers hinted that this was a Pegula move rather than a Whaley move. Leroi is adamant in the shoutbox that its all Whaley. Interesting stuff, I thank em both for speaking up.
  4. Great info! Thanks. Ragland seems like an awkward fit. Exciting that we could have a pass rush in Buffalo again.
  5. If this is the hire I expect to be back here in 2 years with a new front office and coaching staff. Could be wrong...
  6. Thank you jboyst. I hope you're right about big 99, you can build a strong defense around this line. Safety play being less emphasized comes as a timely blessing...
  7. Where does his pass rush come from? Do you expect Dareus, KW and Hughes to get back up to producing the way they did under Pettine and Schwartz?
  8. if Lynn doesn't want to stay as OC then how do you propose they keep that offense? It would be dumb to promote Lynn to HC and pass on who they feel is a superior coach just to keep Greg Roman's offense. Changing schemes is what happens when you hire bad head coaches. When I asked them to fire Rex I knew this could happen. You don't know if Lynn will want to work with the incoming HC or the other way around. For me the priority would have been to think big picture and hire the best Head Coach to build the football program the right way, rather than worrying about scheme.
  9. Its what happens when you fire coaches as we were forced to do to Rex. McDermott's guy is McCoy, not Lynn. Lynn may in fact be the Chargers HC. McCoy is an outstanding candidate to take over the offense, its rare the Bills get a coordinator as qualified as he is.
  10. I had this post from Hapless Bills Fan in another thread buzzing in my head. Also I remember him in a shouting match with Larry Fitzgerald back in AZ, he seems like he marches to his own drum. Which if harnessed with discipline can be a good thing, I think. I am not as high on him as HBF.
  11. My interest is pretty much the same as yours, and I'd insert Todd Haley 4th after Butler. Curious if he has grown up since KC. None of the candidates excite me all that much from the outside but they're all worth a shot in different ways. I hope we focus on getting the best Head Coach rather than thinking about fixing a particular side of the ball, or scheme fits, etc. Look at the big picture and get the guy who can build a football program from the ground up and understands how to win in today's league. As a know-nothing observer I do get the impression the Rex hire came from ownership. If they don't trust Whaley to hire his top choice this time then he shouldn't be heading the football operation.
  12. Git r dun Kim. I like this kid, he's not scared to throw the ball and he's chill in the pocket.
  13. Yesterday JW implied that the Pegulas have a candidate they like while Whaley hasn't settled on a choice yet, and that there's a debate taking place. I'm wondering if McDermott is the Pegulas' guy as has been reported while Whaley may want to talk to Steelers DC Keith Butler.
  14. I could see that if I bought that Rex was laser focused on sacrificing and winning football games for the Bills at all costs throughout his entire time here. However between all the talking, the parachuting, the Bills-painted vehicles, Donald Trump, the Clemson helmets, the Clemson live games, the Clemson shoutouts, the Clemson underwhelming 1st round pick, his failure of a defensive coach brother joining the staff and being advertised by Rex as a game-changer, his supposedly telling Lynn before the season started to sit tight because the job will soon be his, and most of all his preference for going down with his Daddy's defense over adapting and simplifying and winning behind the strength of a beastly defensive line...I don't buy that this guy was here ready to sacrifice and do whatever it takes to make the Bills a winner. He didn't have to quit because he wasn't trying in the first place. Good riddance.
