  1. There is no need for them to get rid of Gonzalez. Its not like he's about to hit free agency, and its not as if he's a malcontent demanding a trade. If they don't get an offer they like, they can just stand pat, and deal him in the offseason if they're so inclined...or they could just keep their best player and try to win some football games the next couple of years.
  2. Agreed on both counts, especially the Baltimore pick. Indy is worst in the league against the run, and the Ravens D is playing some fantastic ball this year. I'm not sure what the spreads are now cause my pool uses early lines, but I also like the Cardinals +5.5 vs. Dallas, and the Bears -2.5 @ Atlanta. Anyhow, good luck to you.
  3. I took it to mean that period between the end of the season and the start of free agency, where only the player's former team can negotiate with him. Wouldn't really mean much here imo, cause Losman would just wait that period out and become a UFA.
  4. There's plenty of tape on Losman for teams to figure out where he's at as a quarterback. Could KC bringing him in for 11 games allow them to gauge Losman's ability more accurately than film? Its possible, but the difference it would make surely isn't equatable to a 2nd or 3rd round pick. As for KC having exclusive rights...Losman simply would not have any reason to sign with them. He'll have no loyalty to any of the coaches or players, the team's higher execs, or the city. He'll have every reason to simply hit free agency and sell himself off to the highest bidder, who would in turn have the most perrogative to give him playing time. If thats KC, than so be it. If it isn't KC...than so be it. The exclusive rights they'd get for a limited time wouldn't do them much good here, imo.
  5. Exactly. His contract status means his trade value is next to nothing. He's going to hit free agency, and he's going to sign with the highest bidder.
  6. JP is going to free agency when the season ends, because thats where the money is. Because of that, a 7th round pick has more trade value than JP Losman does. Why would a team thats going nowhere this year want him when he's just going to play out the string and leave?
  7. I think you're seriously underrating the value of a quality recieving tight end. It would help everything.
  8. Absolutely. The mission statement should be to win a Superbowl either this year or next, and Tony Gonzalez will help you do that much moreso than your average 2nd round rookie.
  9. I agree. If they're only asking for something like a 3 and a 6 or a 3 and a 5, lets get this thing done. No hesitation.
  10. Was a complete lack of humor what she was going for?
  11. You're all alone on this one, Steely. Avril Lavigne hotter than Megan Fox.
  12. Really? Didn't they score two consecutive touchdowns to slim a 17-point deficit after Edwards left?
  13. This is a guy who just last season had 99 catches, 1172 yards and 5 touchdowns. He isn't on that pace this year, what with the Chiefs asking him to block more and having already used 3 different starting quarterbacks, including some guy named Tyler Thigpen. But he has NOT lost very much of his speed or athleticism. This is still one of the premier tight ends in the game. As for the chance that his game is about to drop off, Gonzo has proven to be one of the most durable players in the league and keeps himself in excellent shape. He could be one of those rare players who remains relevant well into their 30s. Since he was drafted, he's appeared in 156 of the Chiefs 158 regular season games. Personally, I would have no problem giving away a 2nd and a 5th. The prospect of Edwards playing with Evans and Gonzalez is too enticing to pass up.
  14. When did we fire Modrak and Brandon?
  15. There ya go Steely, back on track. Emmanuelle Chriqui of Entourage and Don't Mess With The Zohan fame. Here's another and another. Just gorgeous.
  16. Houston's offense is extremely underrated when Schaub is healthy. Slaton gives them a threat on the ground, and Schaub is surrounded by three underrated weapons in Andre Johnson, Kevin Walter and Owen Daniels. These guys can light up the scoreboard with just about anybody. In the preseason I was really high on Houston and thought they'd be in the running for a wildcard. Thing is, their defense has been terrible, and we don't have much reason to believe they'll stop Ronnie Brown and the ordinary-yet-reliable Chad Pennington. But you have to think that an underachieving winless team will come out fired up against a mediocre team in front of their home crowd. I'm probably taking Houston in my pool.
  17. I don't know, I loved Seinfeld don't get me wrong, but the lines/scenes aren't really funny on their own. Scenes were great because of the delivery of the actors, the context of the crazy situations the characters were in, and the conext of the viewer's perceptions of the characters. If I had never seen the show and didn't know anything about it, most of these lines wouldn't get much of a reaction. They need context.
  18. As Simon points out, he's among the league leaders in solo tackles by defensive linemen. Clearly he's doing a good job against the run. We certainly do need to find a pass rush, but to say it can't get any worse is completely off base. It can get much worse. Schobel is a good all-around player, and while the aspect of his game thats missing right now is an important one, he still does other things well. We don't know what we would get from a 3rd round rookie, and the possibility exists that he'd be a liability if left to man the position on his own. I agree that we need to get a look at Ellis. If Schobel, Kelsay and Denney are completely unable to generate pressure, then its time to explore all possibilities, and that means dressing Ellis and giving him some snaps. Bobby April will have to live with one less special teamer on gameday...sorry, Copeland. Ellis should play, but it should be on a rotational/situational basis at this point.
  19. I'm always the commissioner of my money league, and I can't seem to get the scoring just right. We always use 1 point per 10 rushing/recieving yards, 6 points per rushing/recieving TD, 1 point per 25 passing yards, 4 points per passing TD. Additionally, in the past we've always awarded 1 point per reception, but I came to be unhappy with that, in that I thought quarterbacks became somewhat meaningless as the other positions racked up all the points. So this year we took out the point per reception...and the 6 top scorers in the league at the moment are all quarterbacks! This can't be right... What scoring system do you use? Someone in my league suggested half a point per reception. Help please!
  20. This I'm not so sure about. They rank 18th against the run, 32nd against the pass, 28th in total yards/game and 24th in points per game. If Tredwards plays, we ought to be able to put points on the board.
  21. Link She's got her nailed, spot-on. Really funny stuff. That'd be Queen Latifah as the moderator and Jason Sudeikis as Biden. Another highlight of the evening was Mark Wahlberg Talks To Animals, with a surprisingly good Marky Mark impression from Andy Sandberg. This was one of the better SNLs I've caught in a good while.
  22. Completely agree. We need to be able to generate a rush with our front four, as opposed to blitzing all the time. If it means a 1st round D-lineman, then so be it. Nothing is more pivotal imo.
