  1. People other than the actual NFL do seem to have an interest in tallying wins and losses for QBs...but then again, people also have an interest in reality television. In neither case does popular opinion keep them from being a steaming pile of manure. Its a flawed statistic, because there are far too many variables that the quarterback cannot control. No QB stats are perfect, but you can sure as hell get a lot closer than counting how often the 51 other guys on a QB's team won games.
  2. I don't know if he's truly worth what we're paying him, but he's the best pass rushing down lineman we've got, so he's not going anywhere.
  3. But Vick didn't "win" the game any more than Warrick Dunn, Sam Rogers or Patrick Kerney "won" the game. Football is the ultimate team sport, and there's just no place for attributing wins and losses to one player. Vick was just 1/52. As Dean points out, the NFL obviously agrees.
  4. And its a flawed stat, just like it is in baseball for pitchers. Six times this year, Johan Santana did NOT record a win in a game which he left with a 2+ run lead. This happened only once to Lincecum. Guess who gets the Cy Young? Its the same deal in football. There are just way too many factors beyond a quarterback's control to evaluate them with a win/loss record. You have to try to pull out their impact on the game with things like yards per attempt and TD/INT ratio if you want to judge their play with any level of accuracy.
  5. Gregg Williams had a "strong personality." That worked out swell, eh?
  6. Needs: 1a. Left DE 1b. Center 2. Tight End Wants: 1. Right Guard 2. Defensive Tackle 3. Will LB 4. Safety 5. Fullback
  7. Good point. I went out to a bar last night and saw Rian Lindell there, but was confused by these huge black marks on his back. Now I get it...they were tire tracks from being thrown under a big ol' bus.
  8. Really? Is that what he did last year with Losman? Jauron has switched quarterbacks plenty throughout his career...he did it in Chicago, and he did it last year. I have no idea where your theory is coming from.
  9. Wow, she's gorgeous. Maybe its me, but she looks a bit like a young Charlize Theron there.
  10. No, the FALCONS beat the PACKERS at Lambeau Field in the playoffs.
  11. If I was in love with you, I'd stay with you through thick and thin.
  12. At least you've had the pleasure of watching them make their way through the playoffs 4 times.
  13. I was born in '88, and I can relate to you. The only playoff experiences I remember are Pittsburgh destroying us, the loss in Miami due to that bullshlt personal foul call on Andre Reed, Todd Collins coming off the bench to lose to Jacksonville, and Home Run Throw Up. Add to that that I'm a Mets fan, and yeah...I'd love to know just once what its like to root for a winning sports team. "Someone convince me how to stop caring so much." Couldn't have said it better myself, man. I truly wish I wasn't so emotionally involved with this team. I always pulled through the heartbreaking losses knowing that our day had to eventually come...but with this Toronto thing looming over us, all our labor and grief may be for nothing. Ah well, keep fighting, keep hoping. What more can you do?
  14. Thanks, Dean. Agreed, Dibs. Lets get the interior of this line FIXED, and have more games like last night in the run game. Thats got to be worth a 1st round pick. Next to a quality center, perhaps Butler and Dockery would look a bit more like what we were hoping for.
  15. I see that those three guys were drafted 21st, 26th and 29th, respectively. Unless we somehow get into the playoffs, we'll be picking in the top 19, which is a range that centers normally do not reach. Personally, if Mack is looked at as THAT good of a prospect, I'd have no problem with the pick...but they may very well pass on a center and look to get a lesser prospect at the position in the 2nd or 3rd.
  16. Thank heavens. I thought for a moment that I was losing my mind. You still reading, Dan? Great post, '03. I agree with every word. This loss was a result of poor quarterback play, and individual players just not stepping up when they had reasonable chances to put the game away. To quote Ben Stiller, endo-story.
  17. I finally understand what you're getting at...and every word of the above is completely wrong. Its very easy to seperate Jauron the Coach from Jauron the GM: hire a real General Manager.
  18. Interesting. What did he do? I didn't notice him being very active.
  19. Yeah, pretty sure I had already left the room by that point.
  20. 'Swagger' always did seem kinda silly. When a team is playing well, they're said to have swagger, but when they're not, they don't. Maybe instead of saying they have swagger, you're really just trying to say they're playing well.
