  1. Thats kinda getting lost in all this, I think. If we go 10-6 and miss out, the season is a success regardless. 10-6 usually does get you in, and if we could just repeat that next year, chances are we'd be there.
  2. You know Tom, the media has been very desirious that a Black quarterback do well.
  3. Preston and Fowler are both UFA's this year. We might benefit most from letting the elder Fowler walk, re-signing Preston (provided he comes cheap), and drafting a Center in the 1st or 2nd rounds of the draft with the intention of starting the rook from day one. I used to think Preston was the worst lineman I'd ever seen, but the general consensus seems to be that he's clearly better than Fowler, and we have been running well the last couple of weeks. He definitely shouldn't start, but I imagine the standard for backup Center is pretty low around the league. Teams have enough trouble finding one decent one, let alone two.
  4. Its been 10 years since this team has played in a playoff game. Lets just get there first.
  5. As Bills fans, we've learned to plan on them messing up at some point, hence all the playoff scenario threads.
  6. You told karma you'd shave when we won. You should follow through on that, cause karma can come at you with a vengeance. Just ask Earl Hickey.
  7. Sometimes I think perhaps the Bills as a team just can't hang with contenders. Then I remember the only guy we're allowed to blame is the head coach.
  8. I'll go out on a limb and say that if Kelsay is still starting on this team next year, it'll be the same deal as this year...8 or 9 wins, and we'll miss a playoff berth in some ridiculously heartbreaking way. Without a rush, our defense just won't be good enough for this team to get to the next level. DE should be priority numero uno this offseason, followed closely by center. Nothing is more important than finding a way to get a pass rush without blitzing. If we can do that, the Cover 2 will work wonders with the secondary we've assembled.
  9. Schedules for the relevant teams, so its all in one place for everybody... AFC East New York Jets (8-3): DEN, @SF, BUF, @SEA, MIA New England Patriots* (7-4): PIT, @SEA, @OAK, ARI, @BUF Miami Dolphins (6-5): @STL, @BUF, SF, @KC, @NYJ Buffalo Bills (6-5): SF, MIA, @NYJ, @DEN, NE Wildcard contenders Indianapolis Colts (7-4): @CLE, CIN, DET, @JAX, TEN Baltimore Ravens (7-4): @CIN, WAS, PIT, @DAL, JAX
  10. Until we get a center who can get in there and get nasty with those big 3-4 nose tackles, I doubt we'll be able to run like this against the division opponents. It is nice to see them run well against Cleveland and Kansas City, because earlier in the year, we couldn't run even against similarly flawed defenses. But somehow I think we'll be living and dying with Edwards' arm down the home stretch.
  11. Did YOU get accepted to Yale? I know I didn't! He's obviously an intelligent guy. Whether or not he's capable of applying that intelligence to coaching is whats debatable.
  12. So...the Knicks. -Jamal Crawford to Golden State for F/C Al Harrington -Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins to the Clips for SG Cuttino Mobley and F Tim Thomas Unlike Crawford and Randolph, the contracts of all three players they acquired will expire after the 2009-10 season. With Marbury coming off the books, they'll have over $50 million in cap space, meaning they can offer the maximum FA contract to two players that year. That 2010 free agent market will consist of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Amare Stoudemire, Dirk Nowitzki, Chris Bosh, Manu Ginobili, Joe Johnson, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Tyson Chandler, Richard Jefferson, Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, Steve Nash and Michael Redd, among others. Stephen A. Smith went on Sportscenter and called this a "beautiful day" for the Knicks. He said LeBron and others purposely planned out their becoming free agents at the same time, because "they're all friends," and that LeBron saying he's going to go where he can win championships was his way of telling Cleveland he's leaving. A few hours later, I saw Jalen Rose on some ESPN show or other, and he GUARANTEED that both LeBron and Chris Bosh will be Knicks. Interesting...they've kind of sold away their chances at getting to the playoffs this year in order to make a play two years from now. Am I supposed to feel excited when my team just got so much worse? Do you think other teams will follow this line of thinking and try to maneuver themselves to be players in 2010? If so, the time to do it is NOW, because once the season ends, those expiring contracts become far more valuable.
  13. Give me a break. Everytime they showed a replay, there was at least one reciever who was WIDE open, usually downfield. And several people who were at the game have said he missed open recievers all night. Trent threw three interceptions early, and then got into some kind of funk mentally. His play is on him.
  14. Right, but you don't know when he's out of his "current state." Maybe Monday Night was the last of it. Who are you to say for certain? Since we don't have a good alternative, I'm staying with him.
  15. Nice to see you back, Tip. We played hard for 4 quarters Monday night. Our defense kept us in the game throughout, and while Edwards was awful, the rest of the team picked him up. Three things we haven't seen much of this year: pass rush, running game, big plays on special teams. All three things showed up in a big way Monday. When we went down 23-13 at the top of the 4th, we thought it was over in my house...but this team fought and clawed its way back, all three units contributing to finally taking their first lead with 2 and a half minutes left! How can you be embarrassed by that effort, and that attitude? We basically won this game, despite a dreadful QB peformance. If Jackson doesn't fumble, or McKelvin or Simpson hold onto their would-be interceptions, or Corner connects on what should've been a point blank sack on the final drive, or Lindell hits the field goal...we'd have found a way to win. Maybe next time we make one of those plays. This loss is especially hurtful because of how important the game was, but there is nothing to be embarrassed about.
  16. Seriously. This was one of our best and most complete games of the season. What in the world are you embarrassed about?
  17. Its possible, but we've left ourselves no margin for error. I won't allow myself to get emotionally involved again by thinking playoffs until we win a god damn game. If we're 6-5 Sunday night, and the Jets lose to Tenny, then we can talk.
