  1. My father has diabetes, and refuses to take care of himself. I worry about him every day.
  2. I could probably be labeled a Jauron supporter as well, although it didn't seem that way above. While I wouldn't exactly be outraged if he was canned, I prefer to give him at least another year. He's not perfect, but we're more desperate for changes both above and below the position of Head Coach than we are for a new skipper.
  3. Ozzie Newsome has directed player personnel there for 13 years, and he's drafted 15 players in the first round. That might be long enough to prove the ceiling is higher than 1 out of 2.
  4. We really have no indication thats what has happened here, though. There's no reason to think anyone on the team held Peters accountable...there's no reason to think anyone on the team got in Evans' face over his criticism of the QB switch. Everybody on the team keeps a smile on their face while they fail, but don't fail badly. There's no unrest, and no dissention within the locker room that the theory claims is key for growth and progression. The healthy conflict you get in the storming stage just doesn't seem to be there. Your buddy said the teams that "storm" the most violently are the ones who pull through...well we seem to have a pretty light storm on our hands, unfortunately. Everybody smiles, everything is ho-hum, everybody loves the coach and doesn't say a negative word about any of their teammates...after all, we're always 7-9, so it always seems like we're close. We'll "just keep working harder" instead of figuring out whats really wrong here. Great post though, it was a very interesting read and it was awesome to see someone on here look at things from a different perspective. I've been staying away because I can't take much more of the same bland 'Jauron is da suxorz lolz' garbage, but this was refreshing.
  5. If thats true, there's no reason why we wouldn't sign Julius Peppers this offseason, is there? We certainly have the cap room. Somehow I doubt it will happen. Why is that?
  6. I'm pretty sure you fellas know what he means. He's sick of the Cover 2 as our base defense. 3-4 teams use Cover 2 zones, yeah, but not as much as we do, and on the other hand blitz a lot more often than we do in most cases. What he's saying isn't so complicated.
  7. Colts 1st rounders since hiring Polian: 2007 Anthony Gonzalez 2006 Joseph Addai 2005 Marlin Jackson 2003 Dallas Clark 2002 Dwight Freeney 2001 Reggie Wayne 2000 Rob Morris 1999 Edgerrin James 1998 Peyton Manning Patriots 1st rounders since hiring Belichick/Pioli: 2008 Jerod Mayo 2007 Brandon Meriweather 2006 Laurence Maroney 2005 Logan Mankins 2004 Vince Wilfork 2004 Ben Watson 2003 Ty Warren 2002 Daniel Graham 2001 Richard Seymour Ravens 1st rounders since promoting Ozzie Newsome: 2008 Joe Flacco 2007 Ben Grubbs 2006 Haloti Ngata 2005 Mark Clayton 2003 Terrell Suggs 2003 Kyle Boller 2002 Ed Reed 2001 Todd Heap 2000 Jamal Lewis 2000 Travis Taylor 1999 Chris McAlister 1998 Duane Starks 1997 Peter Boulware 1996 Jonathan Ogden 1996 Ray Lewis Not sure where you're getting that 50% mark from. I think the league's best executives can clearly put the majority of their 1st round picks to good use. If we're going to compete with these teams despite a small budget, 50% will not cut it.
  8. The players play hard for him. There is no quit in this team. I positively LOVE that he's willing to unleash Bobby April by calling for these fake punts and field goals, and has done so as early as the first drive of the game more than once. I like that he's willing to go for it on 4th down from that 35-45 yard line range. Previous coaches have driven me crazy with their obsession with the pooch punt. I like his defensive system. It will generate lots of turnovers if we get ourselves a pass rush. He's got a lot of faults that most likely outweigh the above. A track record of mediocrity, absolutely ABYSMAL clock/situational gameday management, inability to hire a good offensive coordinator, and on and on. Even though he's mediocre at best overall, and quite possibly worse than that, there are still a few things he does well, imo.
  9. Another starting linebacker? If we're still running a 4-3, where would he play?
  10. Greer is good, but he isn't THAT good. We can't take the risk of getting stuck paying that much money for a player we all know we don't need.
  11. I get what you mean. The title of the thread is a bit misleading.
  12. I've been thinking that quite a bit this year, actually.
  13. Whose to say Denver would have won the game if he caught it? With the field position we'd been getting and all three timeouts tucked away, there's no reason to make any assumption.
  14. And a Ric Flair-themed avatar. You, sir, are the man.
  15. I am absolutely convinced that when people say they saw "swagger," they just mean the team in question won, and when they didn't see "swagger," they're just trying to say the team in question lost.
  16. Trent has has started slowly, only to improve later on, in plenty of games this year. Its inexpilcable, but it has occured mutiple times during his '08 campaign regardless of the weather. Think Seahawks, Raiders, Rams, Browns. Additionally, Edwards only has 10 or 11 wins to his credit (depending on who you ask), and 2 of them are in cold weather. So far, he's not that good of a quarterback overall. But his play doesn't seem to drop with the thermometer disproportionately to other quarterbacks.
  17. "I'm goin' where the climate suits my clothes."
  18. As fans, we have ZERO control over what happens on the field. Say Fan A is angry when his team loses and happy when his team wins, watches his team every Sunday, and wastes time talking about his team on internet message boards, taking the optimistic side of most debates with fellow fans. Say Fan B, on the other hand, is angry regardless of whether his team wins or loses, because all he can think about is the fact that his team can't seem to enjoy any long-term success. Like Fan A, Fan B also wastes his time talking about his team on internet message boards, but differs in that he always takes the pessimistic approach in conversation with fellow fans. Both fans are wasting time talking about their team on an internet message board, and wasting energy pondering their team 365 days a year. Despite this, neither fan is doing anything that will bring about any sort of change. Whether you decide to complain or not, whether you're capable of enjoying the (altogether too rare) victories or not, you are settling for failure just as much as any other Bills fan. Don't tell me I'm settling for failure and you're not, when we waste equally ridiculous amounts of time and energy with this team, and neither of us is doing anything to change the situation. We are equally powerless. Our opinions are equally irrelevant. We are forced to either "settle for failure," or walk away from being a Bills fan. Unfortunately, we're both in far too deep to do the latter, if I may be so presumptuous. You'll have to excuse me if I celebrate when my team wins, its just my nature. But please, PLEASE, do not go around here acting like you're more dedicated to seeing the Bills win a Superbowl than the rest of us are because you're always negative and we usually stay positive. Maybe you're smarter, but you're not doing anything more to get the Bills into the playoffs than any of the other thousands of members of this board. I'm off the soapbox. Sorry for the rant.
  19. Can he play in cold weather or not? Yes, he can. Can he play in the snow or not? Yes, he can. Can he play well consistently enough to be a starter for a winning team in this league? Nobody knows for sure. My suspicion is that no, he can not. That said, this bad weather business needs to stop.
