  1. I was overcome with excitement when we traded up and took Losman.
  2. Any time those top 10 teams take someone other than a defensive lineman, I'll be thrilled.
  3. The price to get from #17 to #2 has to be pretty steep. We could be talking about the Jets losing their #1 pick next year.
  4. It smells like a defensive lineman to me, because they're not worried that the OTs might be off the board.
  5. ESPN has a reporter at OBD, and he said he had just got off the phone with Russ Brandon. Russ told him they "probably won't" package the two 1st rounders together to move up, and they probably won't move down either. Reporter said they believe 11 is a good spot to be in this draft.
  6. Is this the guy who got our last 3 first rounders right? I could be thinking of someone else.
  7. This can't be true. What am I supposed to be upset about, then?
  8. First regular season game, by far. I prefer it to my own birthday.
  9. Wooohooooooo! There are no wins and losses tomorrow...it should be a day of pure pleasure. Don't let anything get in the way of that. Enjoy the weekend to the fullest, fellas, cause its the best day our Bills will have till September. You have yourself a fine weekend, Tipster. GO BILLS!
  10. Didn't they say Curry's deal would've been 5 years/$57M? Why was he gonna get over $11M a year but Stafford isn't even getting $7M a year? That deal seems remarkably low for a QB 1st overall. edit: Ah, the post above mine explains it. Probably should edit the thread title.
  11. Thanks. I'll be doing backflips if we do grab Ayers, but I've gotta think there are better things we can do at 28. We'll know soon enough.
  12. How did he say it? Was he just giving his opinion like everybody's been doing for months, or did he say he had a source?
  13. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?!?!?!?!?!
  14. 1. Robert Ayers 2. Max Unger 3. Marcus Freeman
  15. Maybe other teams were telling them they didn't wanna go to 2 because of the huge salary, so its a desperation move.
  16. Yeah, I really think Ayers is a rarity in that he can come in and immediately make an impact against the run. The kid had 15.5 tackles for loss last year. He seems like he's becoming a better pass rusher as time goes on and can develop on that front. Looks like a solid all-around defensive end. And yes, you're absolutely right about the bickering. Its only natural that an armchair GM should know better than an NFL College Scouting department.
  17. link The Jets' GM actually confirms it? Some kind of smokescreen? Rotoworld's take:
  18. Well provided they draft someone at #42 or higher who can play both Guard and Center, I don't think the depth is so bad, actually. McKinnie looks like good depth along the interior (with the rookie sliding to Center if Hangy goes down), as other teams have trusted him as a starter in the past. Bell would be the third Tackle...this is where I can understand people taking issue, but the team appears to be high on the kid, and the OL guys on this board who saw him in the preseason last year were encouraged. His weakness coming out was strength issues, and having been in an NFL conditioning program for a year, you'd think he'd have made some progress on that front. There also exists the possibility that if a Tackle went down, rather than use Bell, they could shift Butler back to Tackle and bring McKinnie off the bench. Also, I think people overestimate the standard for backup offensive linemen around the league...I imagine with McKinnie and Bell being our two top reserves, we would be no worse off than most other teams. Just a hunch. As for the starters, I think the unit will look remarkably similar to the way its looked the last three seasons or so. They won't be elite pass blockers but they will hold up well enough in pass pro. The run blocking will be poor against most quality opponents, and adequate against not-so-quality opponents. We have to hope the threat of Evans and Owens will open up rushing lanes that weren't there last year. I don't think a rookie OT can change things a whole lot...however, I do think infusing the defensive front seven with two good, young players at DE and OLB could make a real impact, so I'm more inclined to look at those spots. My ideal draft is Ayers, Orakpo, Maybin or Raji at 11, an OLB, DT or an interior O-lineman at 28, and another of those three at 42. But please, no tight ends or OTs at 11...the defensive line NEEDS that pick. We'll see how it goes, should be a fun day.
  19. First of all, nobody keeps 10 linemen, so I wouldn't expect people to be able to name 5 backups. Thats going pretty deep into the camp fodder. Secondly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Seth McKinnie being a team's best backup lineman. He always starts at least a few games for whatever team he is on, so we aren't the first team to have him in that roll.
  20. Would this be that comedy you were talking about?
  21. Ron Jaworski once said about Reggie Bush, "He's a satellite, so New Orleans needs to get him into space."
  22. Do you mean Tyson Jackson as a DT? With our 4-3 zone scheme, the ends are ideally speed rushers, which he is not. He seems a much better fit as a 3-4 DE than as anything else.
  23. I strongly feel the first 4-6 picks are out of bounds for trades. Nobody wants to put together the package it takes to get up that high AND pay the ridiculous salary to boot. Teams would rather let Stafford go and try to make a play for Sanchez down around the #8 slot.
  24. This guy probably made a bet that he could start a rumor without even saying where it came from or responding at all, and the thread would go over a certain amount of pages. And he'll probably win, too.
