  1. That really is hilarious! Enjoy that insane opening day atmosphere at the Ralph. I'll be up week 4.
  2. Yes! I need a Dan Carpenter jersey.Just got an alert from the Bills app, he's officially active
  3. He needs to learn when to look at the quarterback, and when he does that it's gonna force him to re-learn some other parts of his technique. I think there's hope he can get there by opening day but I feel it's a tall mountain to climb and will be watching the reports on Leo closely. He did use the sideline well as an extra defender and it was a good lesson for him that QBs and WRs actually can make these connections on the sideline even downfield in tight spaces. I think these may be things that take more than a month to adjust for but we'll see, Henderson is Henderson.
  4. Agreed, credit where it's due to Yolo for talking up Gilmore on Andre Johnson and Darby on Hilton. If I recmember correctly there were camp reports of Darby even holding his own against Watkins so I'd say yes he needs to get better but there's some hope he can be ready for TY. Too bad it's Luck but nice to have the best pass rush in the league.
  5. I'll agree '08 was his least disappointing year but only because it's more acceptable for a rookie to be bad than a non-rookie.He had athleticism and some coverage skills but he was wildly inconsistent and gave up a lot of big gains and touchdowns those first 3 years. I thought he had a chance to get better but considered it slim because 3 healthy seasons in his play just hadn't made the grade. Your opinion is yours, no need to apologize but I clearly remember not being the only one who thought he was likely to bust. As for Darby I thought his coverage was more consistent than McKelvin's was two years in, but Darby's ball skills are simply lacking at this point (at least on that night) and I agree it's hard to imagine such a drastic turnaround in a month's time. I also wonder if Hilton, who I love, is actually a better matchup for Darby at this point in his career than these 6'5 guys, because Darby CAN stay with his man and that's the challenge Hilton presents. They're gonna have to do some serious work with the kid though on back shoulder throws, get his head around MUCH quicker and get across the WR's body to play the ball. It does look like a tall order right now imo
  6. 2008 and 2010 McKelvin was a mess. clueless with the ball in the air and every double move he saw faked him right out of his spikes.2011 he got a little better, started to learn not to jump every cut immediately and fared better against double moves, more consistent in coverage, still struggled with ball skills. It wasn't until the last 4-5 weeks of 2012 that he looked like a legitimate NFL starting corner. Then he took off with Henderson
  7. Funny dude Was it not Bob Dylan who penned 'Outside in the cold distance, a wildcat did growl. Rex Ryan was approaching...and the wind, began to howl.'
  8. Rock on Jim. I say take the win and make your statement in Foxborough, march into the keep and behead the king. Bottom line for me is winning games but I'm desperate to lay another beat down on Brady* too.
  9. Beating em* in Foxborough would be a heck of a way to march into the playoffs, Sir Eric. Pragmatic I like to think. You need a certain number of wins to get into the playoffs, and you can't predict what will happen to your roster with injuries/suspension. Collect the division win over the defending champs*, there will be plenty more chances for the big cathartic revenge moment.
  10. Sanity. Winning is all that matters, everything else is a distraction. The only statement the Bills need to make is winning the division and playing in January. Hope for Garoppolo but prepare for Brady*.
  11. Its an awesome change of pace from anything I've experienced as a Bills fan. My prediction is Gragg goes and the other 4 stay but Gragg is a useful player too. I think Roman will really like Gray. Interesting race
  12. You may well be right about the rotations. Looking at the three categories of TEs Roman and KTD talked about, Clay satisfies all three, so they're all Clay clones in a way. Roman loved his H-back types in SF and the ability to gain yards after the catch is huge for that kind of player. I like Gragg too I think he's proven he can be a useful receiver but still hold the opinion Gray is more versatile and more dangerous because of RAC. I don't know that Gray is really an inline guy though, which is why O'Leary has to show a real ability to contribute for me to cut Gragg. Jmo
  13. I think Roman will put a high value on his versatility lining up different places and his athleticism- he's truly a weapon. If his blocking is improved he's on his way to bring a very useful player and seems to be #2 on their depth chart at the moment.
  14. I don't see O'Leary as a lock personally, if he doesn't show he can contribute in some way he may wait for an injury on the practice squad. For me Clay, Gray, Mulligan most likely make it with O'Leary and Gragg fighting for the last spot. Preseason hasn't started so plenty of time for O'Leary to flash, I'd still give him the benefit of the doubt as long as he shows something. Gragg has had a nice camp but it's a numbers game, Mulligan makes a ton of sense for a power running team.
  15. Agreed the DBs seem tight but it's one possibility. I think Cassell is crap, but still wonder if he sets a floor at QB whereas EJ and T-Mobile are unknown, both upside and downside.
  16. Fred was gaining 3 on runs where CJ, and a lot of other nfl backs would be the same way, was losing yardage. He had some miracle runs for short gains on shotgun handoffs up the middle where he shoulda been stuffed. His vision is top of the line and he still has enough shiftiness to elude, not a big play runner but I think can improve on that ypc and produce. Also if McCoy ever misses games Freddy becomes an important player for third downs and other pass situations, extremely reliable blocking, catching and finding a way to get first downs. edit I'd think one or two more years
  17. If they keep only 8 offensive linemen with Richardson doubling as the 4th tackle, it may not be an issue. Probably with Chandler on PS. I took a stab at the 53 and it shook out this way 3 QB 4 HB 1 FB 6 WR 4 TE 8 OL 7 DL (includes Mario) 7 LB (includes Hughes) 5 CB 4 S 4 special teamers
  18. He's proven a lot of people including myself wrong the last 2 seasons, was very good last year and I want him available even if Darby is just as good. If McKelvin isn't there, what happens when Gilmore or Darby gets hurt? Brooks may be able to handle the slot but the outside? Graham is a starting safety, how good are Duke Williams, Cockrell? No matter what you do you've probably downgraded significantly somewhere back there which can force Rex to change his calls.
  19. Regarding weak content, iirc Ryan for several years now has done an outstanding job giving information on UDFAs upon signing. Its much appreciated as it can be tough to find good info on those little-known prospects. I have so many wonderful memories of Piper over the years. As a kid I was captivated when he beat Hollywood Hogan at Starrcade '96...the first to beat the 'bad guy' version of Hogan, he engrossed me in the story with his gritty, realistic approach to the acting part of the job. Ric Flair likes to tell stories of going into South America and other places with Roddy, and Piper as a baddie would ignite the foreign crowds to the point that Flair feared for his life as they tried to leave the ring/stage area through a riot. Flair also talks about how Piper was so talented and versatile, and such a lightning rod that smaller promoters wouldn't know what to do with him. They'd actually send their best asset home, put him on leave while they tried to figure out how to use a guy who could play any character you wanted and find a way to connect it with his audience on an emotional level. and always brought it in the ring between bells. I've lost interest in the modern product but thankfully was still watching when Piper produced this gem, playing the wisened vet on Piper's Pit come to defend the innocent but misguided AJ Lee from her talented but selfish boyfriend Daniel Bryan. As he did so often under the WWF/E banner, Piper takes a cartoonish storyline and makes it something personally relatable. He was a consummate family man who brought very real joy to masses of people. I like to think the bagpipes were playing as Roddy walked down the aisle into his next life, God bless.
