I don't think Fitzpatrick should start. I think we should take the approach we SHOULD have taken with JP Losman - let him play out this final year, and let him make or break his status as the starter of the team. No bull sh-- of losing jobs due to injuries, the offense "looking better" even though it's producing the same or less as it did before. Edwards is the quarterback. This is his year to either put up or shut up. It also wouldn't hurt if he held himself accountable once in a while, either. "But uhh, we don't practice against it!" YOYOING THE QUARTERBACKS ISNT THE ANSWER

1. Preseason is irrelevant. 2. Losman proved that he wasn't the answer himself, last year. 3. Yeah, he is ahead of Losman at this point in their careers. Losman was a PROJECT that was going to take time to develop. He didn't end up working out. Now it's Edwards turn to see if he works out. I do recognize that Edwards is a promising QB. I've also recognized that having 'poise' doesn't equal to production as a QB. It may not be the best reason, but it's the reason why I don't like him. The same thing happened with me w/ Daunte Culpepper on another board. fwiw I wasn't pointing at you as one of the people that is 'blindly doling out praise'.

i disliked edwards because 1. i don't feel he earned the job when losman got injured 2. the people on this message board after jp mailed it in last year, i no longer disliked edwards, but i'm not going to blindly dole out praise when none is warranted. he's the QB, and I hope that he does well. like i said earlier, i don't think he did anything well that game other than that last pass to royal. ooh, he scored a touchdown? wow, he burrowed his head down behind the center and fell forward. awesome achievement. my optimism is decidedly guarded. call me a hater if you want.
