  1. Nobody's making that argument. Nobody. Because Bears from a decade ago!!
  2. this was meant to be a thread about how lucky we are to not be scrambling to position ourselves in a high demand, low supply market. but oh well. GUNNER: people who say this about Rex's scheme completely ignore the fact that his GM basically gutted his roster They had nobody to play corner last year. And this board has been unending chicken v egg discussion about who's to blame for the disconnect with this year's roster. To issue a consensus would be bold, to say the least.
  3. Schwartz is available just like Marv is. Nobody's calling him. By your logic, we should be mentioning me as a potential HC candidate too. You've entirely backed up my previous statement as there are just as many Jets fans who don't share that belief about Rex and his time there and fully believe he was railroaded out of town thanks to a lousy roster/GM. I'm not denying that other Jets fans thought he was a tool. Quite the contrary, in fact. So, again. It seems you're fundamentally lost in this conversation. OR you're willfully ignoring the points I've quite clearly made.
  4. It's easy for any fan to say "he was considered a buffoon" since, invariably, an outraged sect of fans for every team, every year, believe their coach is a "buffoon." Is Schwartz interviewing? Or are you fundamentally lost again?
  5. The 2015 Bills were neither a playoff team, previously or otherwise, nor did they lose nine games. Am I missing something? This ignores his ability to get the right pieces on offense this year. If you agree he did that, then also--as your post above suggests--believe that he is likely to get the D right (heh heh), then exactly how is he a buffoon in Buffalo?
  6. It's tough to plead the case or at least have a meaningful discussion when a guy with a decade's-long reputation for being a defensive mastermind was so quickly dismissed my fans--in less than one season--as a bumbling buffoon.
  7. Yeah, but when they hired Rex, I felt more comfortable with a proven defensive HC than an unproven coordinator looking for his first shot. I know Jackson did that brief stint in Oakland, but not a lot of positive stuff could have been gleaned from it. Looking at the sans-Rex pool in early 2015, I thought Jackson was the best of the bunch. I never thought for a second that Rex was a possibility. Then--all of a sudden--he was our coach.
  8. Detailed memories, vivid recall and the ability to seamlessly verbalize all of it...that's a sign of intelligence.
  9. I haven't seen his name mentioned for HC interviews since he was dismissed, but it's at least the second time he's been mentioned in this thread. Just because I haven't seen the reports doesn't mean he hasn't scheduled interviews. Can we verify that he has/hasn't?
  10. To be fair, nothing is known. I've never seen the results of any IQ tests, I don't know what kind of grades he got in school and I've never met the man. But when I listen to him do interviews, it's clear that the wheels are turning upstairs at a much faster rate than most guys at his position. This was especially clear when--asked about his first NFL touchdown--he launched in a detailed description of his first college touchdown, noting the blockers, where they were on the field and how the play developed.
  11. I thought that Jackson and a retained Schwartz was the best option last year before any of us considered Rex to be a remote possibility.
  12. It's a mat that you would lay out on the floor. And it's got different CONCLUSIONS. That you could JUMP to!
  13. Close your eyes. Now imagine--if you can--a wondrous universe wherein this thread has nothing to do with Rex.
  14. Hahaha. "Smart" has many different forms. Also, if Average Joe has four kids by the time he's 35, nobody bats an eye. Karols will have far surpassed Average Joe's lifetime earnings at 35 before he reaches 25. So, there's that. I'd say less than 10.
  15. You're entitled to your opinion. You had to add a coach who's unavailable to validate that opinion, but you're certainly entitled to it. So, sure. I guess if you can wrangle five names when there's seven vacancies, it's not that bad of a year.
  16. Dude is really smart. Wouldn't surprise me at all.
  17. And I actually don't think Rob's was even that crazy! It's 2015, after all. More possibilities: A ropes course in Siberia A ballet recital in the Sudan A garden show in Prague A Carlos Convention in Flagstaff (of course you don't belong, your name is Karlos) The soundstage where they filmed the movie Clue Bible study class with Dan Carpenter
  18. While I share this perspective, I really don't want the OP to be confused with cheerleading for Rex. So far, at the surface, this appears to be a bad year to be looking for HC's. Firing ours (regardless who it is/was), given the alternatives, would have been the wrong thing to do. Guess whose name hasn't been mentioned anywhere (yet): Jim Schwartz. Will he come back as a DC? Time will tell. But he was foisted as the HC savior that many here wanted and it appears he's either a.) off the market or b.) no longer marketable (at this point).
  19. BOLD PREDICTION: Karlos is a smart/heady guy and retires some time before the 2018 season.
  20. Then you failed to understand the original point which was--very clearly--that this is a ****ty year to be looking for a new HC.
  21. You've made a tangential point in order to criticize me. That's your MO. I get it.
  22. This thread would be a lot more fun if we listed all the places other than the locker room that he was just as likely to be: North Tonawanda Paris The Bass Pro Shop in Rocky View, Alberta The playroom at a McDonalds in Branson, Missouri A Molly and glowsticks party in NYC's warehouse district A public library for blind people The women's room at a TGIFriday's I could go on
  23. LAWD! Are you seeing the names of potential "candidates?" This might be the shallowest coaching pool yet. I'm not saying one of the dozens of coordinators getting plucked for interviews won't turn out to be the next great HC, but let's be real. With Smith fired in TB, it's the fourth consecutive year with seven coaching vaccines in the NFL, but only the second time the Bills aren't mired in the scrum. Looking at the present supply and demand, I'm sure glad we got our guy.
