Bills to let David Nelson walk?

Just as rare as the gangly 6'5" wide receiver who was slow to begin with? -
Pats* sign Brady to 3 year extension thru 2017

Sweet Jesus. That's so evil, it's probably true. -
I enjoyed season one, though it certainly has its druthers. I waited until today to read-up on reviews and find out more about, and I'm glad I did. Had I known it came from the same creative pedigree as Glee and Nip/Tuck, I would have quit on it around episode 7. Not a lot of depth to what it evokes in its audience--much like the saccharine of Glee, it's all dread in AHS. I will watch season 2, but i'm not in a rush. Also quite curious as to which horror tropes they'll strip mine/belabor to death for season 3!

From the article: Amazingly, according to the source, the deal is for an eye-poppingly conservative $27 million, which is less than half his worth by any measure. Which means one of two things: Must be nice not being the chief bread-winner when you're one of the top 3 QB's of the past decade. (most likely why he's willing to accept less) He knows he'll be exposed as a fraud/cheater/product of the system if/when he goes and fails elsewhere. (what I'm going with) -
I've never read him, but i'll follow suit and validate your hatred. !@#$ ESPN and !@#$ James Walker, in particular.

Bills to let David Nelson walk?

Ha, bro: I loved me some David Nelson. I think we suffered last year without him. But I'm just not sad to see him go, and I think there are a lot of others like me. And, you can throw around 40 times all you like, I watched the man run during football games, it wasn't pretty. -
Right, they're were told that gays aren't allowed. NFL players--the wealthy, been-pampered-since-they-were-12 people that they are-- they decide for themselves, and it's been bred into their culture for years. There are no mandates one way or another. You tell me which culture is easier to break. EDIT: Point of historical note! Also: with so much more on the line, and with a virtual absence of entitlement (180 from an NFL locker room "culture"), and with unity in valor and mission that far outpaces what football players do for--at most--20 times a year, fellow military personnel are more likely to respect the man (or woman) for the man (or woman).
-
Oh, this too shall pass. But not now. And the comparison to the military falls waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay short, for a TON of reasons.

Just finished season one on Netflix streaming last night. Looking at the time stamps above, it seems this conversation petered out around episode five (not surprising). Curious to see how opinions changed/evolved, assuming you guys stayed with it till the end.

And I would counter this with two assertions: Re Draft: I was shocked that they passed on Wilson in the third, but so did ten other teams, including five after us, likewise for Kap, and I was unaware that we were already questioning the Dareus pick--that said, if he doesn't get his act together under Pettine, said questioning is valid. Re Regime: I'm going off the assumption that Gailey's dismissal cut into Nix's authority, that not only does he have a different dynamic with Marrone trying to evaluate for his scheme, but that we are also in the midst of the Whaley torch-passing. I believe the days of Chan/Buddy, Michael/Scottie, Mario/Luigi, Peanut butter/Jelly have ended. I get the sense that there's less synergy between Marrone and Buddy, and for the better. I totally understand that I'm displaying symptoms of a victim in an abusive relationship, namely the denial that things will never change. But I'm giving this a chance when the one thing that everyone claimed had to change did change: Ralphy handing over the keys. So when I say "regime," I'm starting (as the most ardent negative Nancies have for years) from the top-down. -

You know, as fans we make these determinations based on an extremely limited knowledge-set. Has anyone considered the possibility that nobody liked the guy? I pulled that cheesy stunt in Dallas, he's always tweeting about #Jesus, may be he's an annoying rube. I figured, while we're speculating based on every other possibility under the sun, might as well throw this one in too. The new regime gets a pass from me until proven otherwise. They know more than we do (see above), and until they're proven !@#$ ups, I'm not making any assumptions. -

And you also don't buy the regime's skepticism with his health/role in their new scheme? May be not... -

The "harm" would be done to the available cash left over to sign Byrd, Levitre and a big name FA (s) to be named later. What's the "harm" in valuing those things over a slow, tall UDFA with a busted knee? -

Bills to let David Nelson walk?

Rumors have it that the Bills want to make another FA splash this year, and that it will come in the form of Dwayne Bowe. To make a move like that AND lock up Levitre and Byrd, it's prudent not to commit $2M on a 6'7" dude who was slow before he blew up his knee. A few players David Nelson is not: London Fletcher, Nate Clements, Fat Pat, Lynch or McGahee. He was a role player, not a fixture--so those comparisons can now stop. A rookie could do Nelson's job as well or better. And that's not even considering the likelihood that his "job" will change under the new regime, and he won't be asked to specialize in the things he did before. Well, since the season is six and half months away, I think you can go ahead and de-boggle that mind of yours. -
Without reading a single word outside the thread's title, this is all I could think of:

This makes 157 responses to a tweet that hasn't been corroborated by any "news" source, and has only popped up in re-report blogs like Buffalo Rumblings. I'm not saying it's bogus, but there's not a whole lot to back it up. Which leads me to: That tweet no longer appears in David Nelson's timeline (and for future reference, please link to the actual tweet and not the tweeter). This, however, does appear in his timeline:https://twitter.com/DavidNelson86/status/304673567524659201 This from a day BEFORE Jason Cole spread this rumor. -
Let it be known: I'm squarely on-record as advocating Nassib with the 8th pick.
-
Then we'll have to agree to disagree. Having seen some of the absolute abortions that pass for starting QB's in the NFL (one of them plays in our division, two of them play in Arizona), I still think Fitz--with a better D (not even better receivers)--would have been good enough for 9 wins last year. How's this for a compromise. Let's create a gray zone between Competent and Incompetent called "Not-Competent", and we'll classify him thusly!
-
Competent was the operative word!
-
How has Cincy's defense compared to ours? He's throwing to A.J. Green, who has more talent than all our WR's combined. I don't care how well he's done with the Bengals, try to imagine what the BILLS would have been like with him in charge. Not so pretty.
-
Given our situation, given how things have shaken out thus far, his ONE miss was Graham over Wilson last year. So, yeah, shame on him for missing that one third round quarterback... I suppose he could have taken Dalton over A. Williams, but how much better would we be with different shades of mediocrity?

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse

Screen grab this ****, because it likely won't happen again: I'm inclined to agree with you. I know I could get drawn and quartered for this, but I might argue Fitz could have been considered "competent" had the defense not been historically bad and had Chan put the ball in our best players' (CJAX--really, not till now) hands. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah...the actual data presented in the "scouting" thread a few days ago completely debunks this claim. -
Understood. But, it was well understood that there was synergy/trust during the Chixley days. If I'm right, and if Nix erred, it was in giving too many keys to Chan. (good to be back, kinda) (seriously, a regime-change off season without TSW? FOGETTABOUTIT!)
-
I think you're too quick to assume Fitz is Buddy's guy. I think it's becoming clearer that Fitz was Chan's guy, and that's mostly why he was let go. This will obviously play out as the offseason progresses, but I have my doubts that Buddy's as committed to Fitz as some would insinuate. EDIT: "Buddy's guy" LOLZ
