  1. Holy Christ, this thread has officially gone off the rails. I have game-rewind, and I watched all of Kolb's 2012 snaps: most of his completions were on crossing routes, or underneath passes to Heap or a running back. Occasionally, he'd go up the seam, but the majority of his passes looked a hell of a lot like the majority of the passes thrown by the guy who just lost his job in Buffalo. Also, as QB has been the focus of the pre-draft discussion round here and beyond, my big thing this off season has been throwing mechanics--because here's the truth: the best QB's in the league all have about the same arm slot/motion--Philip Rivers being the exception to the rule. That's why I like Scott, Barkley, Dysert and to a less-extent Nassib/Geno more than other guys in this year's draft, but I digress: Kolb's throwing motion is JACKED-UP. I like that bringing him in allays the QB urgency at no. 8, but I have no expectation that we'll see a difference between Kolb and Fitz. ALSO: I'm a true believer in Mike Pettine (faith, yes). And I truly believe that Fitz, next year, with CJ properly used, and with a defense that's not historically bad, could easily get us to 10-6. So, if Kolb accomplishes the same, please put me on record as being underwhelmed by what perceive to be a lateral move, Fitz to Kolb. Yes, we will have saved some money (save the cash we had to eat when he was cut), but the plan was to save money by restructuring Fitz in the first place. So, it's worth repeating: signing Kolb puts as right back to where we were one second before the deed was done with Fitz several weeks ago. EDIT: I've steered clear of the Matt Scott thread, but know I commented very early saying his "tape" looked favorable, but that praise had nothing to do with his throwing motion.
  2. The guy is 22. He'll turn 23 on opening Sunday this year. This is a young fella--he will grow stronger and add more muscle. To your point, if he has been coached, and his mechanics are flawless, than it's a strength issue, which is likely to improve as he gets older...right?
  3. So who's running the workout? Buffalo or Barkley and co? If it's Buffalo, it's telling. Get the looks you want, rather than the choreographed shams that are "pro" days. I mean...that's such an easy to make/impossible to prove speculation...
  4. Personally, I think you're putting too much stock in "arm strength"--an attribute that can be incrementally improved on, unlike throwing to spots, poise, presnap reads, etc. Otherwise, your analysis is thorough and thoughtful and--as always--a valued contribution to our community!
  5. Sorry, I can concede that. But the overall response is positive, whereas the overall respond to restructuring Fitz (I'm speculating here) would probably have been negative when the two moves (signing Kolb/restructuring Fitz) are more or less the same.
  6. The Bills wanted to restructure/keep Fitz (per Nix recorded call). Fitz didn't want to restructure. Fitz left. Everyone was jumping for joy. The Bills were left with a Fitz-sized hole in their roster. Kolb fills that hole. He will be a marginal improvement over Fitz. Yet here we are jumping for joy again. As far as I can tell and as far as the Bills go, they're stil back at zero, as this is the equivalent of re-signing Fitz.
  7. If the Bills sign Kolb--did Buf, KC, and Oak all just hedge their top ten bets with a shaky vet in favor of a shaky rookie? Yes.
  8. But apparently the writer has an agenda.
  9. We were talking about the fraction of Chandler's prod---and I've gone cross eyed.
  10. Well, the same can be said in virtually every incident. There's no PROOF that Tom Brady WILL put up decent numbers in 2013, either.
  11. Ha, well, the league does list it as a performance enhancer... 1.8, but yes.
  12. Because he put up similar numbers as Chandler while playing second fiddle.
  13. 8. Tyler Bray - QB Tennessee, 6-5.3, 232...Has ideal height for a quarterback and has a cannon for an arm...throws a really nice deep ball...flashes stretches of touch and accuracy and can be tough to defend when he's in a groove, but can also be wildly inaccurate at times as well...has just enough mobility to slide in the pocket but isn't very mobile...trusts his arm too much which has led to interceptions...would rather force the ball to make a play than take a sack...is at his best with a clean pocket and time to setup and throw...got into trouble last offseason for breaking a windshield with golf balls and beer bottles, but wasn't charged and was also involved in a Jet Ski boating incident two weeks later....All in all - Bray is an intriguing prospect because he looks like a first round pick at times, but too often he looks like an undrafted free agent as well and his character must be checked. He would have benefited greatly by staying in school for another year to hone his skills...Reminds me a bit of former BYU and Oakland Raiders QB Marc Wilson, but will more talent....He's a third to fourth round draft pick due to the questionmarks on and off the field, but has the potential to develop into a starting quarterback because of his arm talent and upside. *Scouting report posted 02/08 and updated 03/18.
  14. I truly hate the idea of using a first round pick to fill a hole created during FA. See: McKelvin, Leodis.
  15. Well, I'm sure if they could, the FO would cook up a better "option" in the OBD laboratory. But since that's not an option... Let me make another analogy--would you rather play five card stud with five cards or nine? The extra four cards don't guarantee anybody anything...but they certainly increase your odds.
  16. I think it's fairly obvious.
  17. How can fans possibly say "no" to any quarterback?? It'd be like shitting down a hole in our yard because we're holding out for a golden toilet. Whoa...expected that to be censored...
  18. GOOD! This is a team in transition. We will not have our "starter" until the last week of training camp anyways. Deepen the competition pool as much as possible! TJax, Corp, Kolb, Flynn, a rookie, an UDFA, Paul Blake, BRING THEM ALL IN!!
  19. Ha ha, of course. Your fascination with photo shop seems to know no bounds!!
  20. You caught me with one foot out the door @ work, I can punch it up first thing tomorrow
