It's just rare to see a guy move laterally like that in the NFL. That's all.
Signing Jones would have freed up one of the two safety picks, per chance. DeVito might have been a good pickup, but I'm glad they landed Branch, instead. Either way, it didn't even seem like former Jets were even on his radar or visa versa. And that's also rare--that a coach wouldn't recruit some familiar bodies to his new shop.
But for a guy who's willing to go down with the ship just so everyone knows how loyal he is (see: Sanchez, Mark), anything contrary to that seems out of the ordinary.
