OPINION: We have a trade partner in place
billieve420 replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Discussions were probably had with different teams in the top # 10 regarding cost to trade up. Deals probably won't be in place until closer to draft time depending who is available. -
If they can trade him fine but I hope we are not cutting a talented player when healthy with a line group that is mediocre at best especially on the right side.

Why Is No One Talking About Jay Cutler?
billieve420 replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't use facts to prove people wrong. People wanted an upgrade over Taylor because he wasn't good enough and rightfully so. Believing Cutler is any type of upgrade is laughable. -
Reason why there were other teams interested like Denver and Arizona as well? They could have signed a FA QB like McCarron and paid more money doing so instead of trading for Tyrod and give up a draft pick in the process. So that doesn’t appear to be salary cap move.

Jordan Matthews not coming back
billieve420 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Way too many possession receivers with the same skill sets. Matthews is replaceable and I would keep Deonte over him. Move Zay to the slot and find someone to split time with Deonte on the outside. -
I wouldn't have been surprised if Ivory was still waiting to be signed after the draft. Otherwise, find me a post June 1st cut to fill the spot. Again to me not a position that needed addressing immediately. I do wish the NFL calendar would change to move up the draft and then have FA afterwards. However, no way the players association would ever agree to something like that.
-
Would rather have seen FA money spent on upgrading the O-line and the Front 7 on defense. RBs are a dime a dozen yet the Bills continue to invest in that position. Anything other than a 1 yr deal is a bad move in my opinion. Maybe we can sign another FB as well.
-
Don't mind the signing would have preferred to wait until after the draft though to pick up a veteran. Yes I know there would be no guarantee he would still be available but to me it wouldn't have been a priority right now.
-
Yes but I am more willing to take a chance on a guy who is more developed like Rosen or someone like Mayfield who despite his physical limitation has produced in college than someone like Allen. Allen would be best served to go to a team with a established QB on the roster where he can sit back, learn, and get better.
-
We have a new OC and a holdover QB coach from last year. Neither of which have shown they can develop a QB. I would be worried about Allen even more so if he ended up in Buffalo than I would if he ended up in New Orleans with Sean Payton. Buffalo has not proven they can develop a QB and I would rather draft someone pro ready who doesn't have those questions surrounding him especially if I am going to make a major move to trade up.

The senior bowl where he look terrible in the first half and they had to bring him back out in the 2nd half to allow him to make some plays? Kyle Lauletta threw for 200 and 3 tds does that mean he is going to be any good. Inaccurate QBs get eaten up by the NFL. EJ Manuel was big and strong as well where did that get him. No one is denying that Allen doesn't have a god given physical talent you can't teach but doesn't mean he is going to be successful. If you want him to have any shot you need to keep him on the bench until he is ready to take over. I think it is going to take longer for him than say a guy like Rosen to get up to speed. You better have a system and QB coach worth a damn who is going to develop him as a passer because he is still very raw. I am not going to bump him up because of how he looked at the combine. Guy looks good in shorts doesn't mean once the live bullets start flying he is going to be able to perform the same.

How many guys came into the NFL from North Dakota State University when Wentz was drafted? It is still a big jump from the Mountain West conference to the NFL. Allen did not dominate in a lower level of competition like Wentz did and is not as polished coming out. So he is definitely not ready to start year 1. Blame the talent around him but still does not excuse the fact that he did not play well. Learning a NFL playbook and new system is all going to take time. I think he has the highest ceiling of all the QBs coming out but also the biggest bust factor. He needs to be paired with a QB like Brees in New Orleans someone he can learn under while he acclimates to the NFL. Whether that takes 1, 2, or 3 years doesn't matter because he won't be ready to start day 1.
-
Allen is going to need to sit for 2-3 yrs and you need a veteran like Keenum to hold things down until he is ready. I think wherever Allen ends up team should look to pair him with Keenum. Keenum gets his money 3-4 yr deal while Allen gets to sit back and learn.

Frankly Speaking : Why Not Try Something New?
billieve420 replied to BadLandsMeanie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It also has to do with the receivers we brought in slower possession type guys. Tyrod struggles throwing guys open in tight spots so he needs quicker guys who are able to get open sooner, guys who can take the top off and open things up for other guys. -
Bucky Brooks NFL combine winners (Allen) & losers (Rosen).

I still wouldn’t be surprised if the Browns draft Allen at #4 and take the best player in the draft Barkley at #1. -
NFL Combine - Measurements, Times, and Other News
billieve420 replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watching Rosen’s interview he comes off as not being totally genuine. Definitely think he is a smart kid but I just had hard time buying some of things he said. Maybe reason why some people question his leadership skills and love for the game. -
If the QB the Bills covet is gone and they were unable to or unwilling to part with the picks necessary to move up. It makes sense to trade down with one of your 1st rd picks if they don't have a high grade on the other QBs. We don't need another EJ Manuel situation where Buddy Nix mentioned he was going to draft a QB and they turned that into their singular focus that draft. If you are going to pay a high price to move up you better be getting the top 1 or 2 QB. I am not interested in giving up the farm for a lesser prospect like Josh Allen just because we need a QB.

In-Depth Breakdown of Lamar Jackson by Eliot Crist

Will definitely be watching all the QBs closely when they throw tomorrow. Very interested to see how it all shakes out. -

I wouldn't mind him in the 2nd if still available and we missed out on the top # 3 QBs. However, my preference would be Kyle Lauletta in rounds 3-4. Jackson is going to need a full year in a NFL weight and conditioning program. He would get killed out there with his slight frame. Look at the beating Cam Newton takes but at least he weighs 250. Also, you are going to need a special offense catered to his strengths. If Lamar is the pick I see no reason why they shouldn't keep Tyrod as well for another year since he would be an ideal fit for the same type of offense. -
When Was Doug Whaley Really Fired in 2017?
billieve420 replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he lost his job when he had that terrible press conference where he threw his owners under the bus. -
Joe B: I think Tyrod’s a Goner
billieve420 replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes I think Tyrod is their fall back option in the event they can't trade him and they are unable to sign another veteran QB they like. -
I don't think character/personality wise he is the type of player that this regime will go after. I believe there is a reason he only received a 1 yr offer after putting together a solid 2016 season for the Bills. Maybe like another poster mentioned his financial demands were ridiculous. I think teams are worried about paying him a bunch of money and him not living up to contract.
