  1. I do not trust McCain one bit. Some of his beliefs I feel are just wrong.
  2. Taking it out of context.... he did state 100 years. No one in their right mind wants our troops to be there for that long - troops safe or not safe. Here is the statement for you though. During a town hall meeting in Derry, New Hampshire last night, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) told a crowd of roughly two hundred people that it “would be fine with” him if the U.S. military stayed in Iraq for “a hundred years“: Q: President Bush has talked about our staying in Iraq for 50 years — (cut off by McCain) McCAIN: Make it a hundred. Q: Is that … (cut off) McCAIN: We’ve been in South Korea … we’ve been in Japan for 60 years. We’ve been in South Korea 50 years or so. That would be fine with me. As long as Americans … Q: [tries to say something] McCAIN: As long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed. That’s fine with me, I hope that would be fine with you, if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where Al Queada is training and equipping and recruiting and motivating people every single day. Does he really think that there won't be car bombs? Other bombings? On a side note, I do remember statements saying that many Iraqis thanked the US for their help but now feel as though it's time for us to leave. Once I find that, I will post it. However, it does ask a larger question... why? Why stay there? Do we really have to be the police department for the world? Haven't we spent enough money in and on Iraq? McCain's main strategy on Iraq is to win no matter the cost.
  3. 100 years BS? Go tell McCain that, he's the one that said it. Let's set up a base over there in a land where people clearly do not want us around. Now following your philosophy about the task at hand, if our troops were getting slaughtered left and right, no light at the end of the tunnel... would you want them to stay there and finish the task just in the hopes that something changes and things start to go their way? At some point, the US has to tell the Iraqi government times up. We're going to start going home. They have to start that at some point. Oh and you are quite welcome. I have no problem reminding you what one of the talking points is.
  4. How he voted, what did he vote for is what I am concerned about. Well, that and the straight talk express follows the same path as Bush. I'm sorry, I just feel as though McCain has some serious issues, I don't trust him for anything. One minute he's for them, next he's against, then for, then against....
  5. Why? I am interested in his voting records now. Not from 20 years ago. I could care less about those days. People change, politics change, etc.
  6. Oh my god that is absolutely ridiculous. The talking point is how it's time to leave, not stay there for 100 years. Or in McCain land, win. Winning is all that matters. Not one democrat is humiliating the military. I think it's a shame that you even believe that.
  7. Barack has also been known, just like McCain to reach across the aisle. And I believe McCain's percentage was around 95% last year. I look at McCain's record as of late.. I am not going to look at what he did when he first came into office.
  8. Not saying that you blame the media... just that is all I hear all of the time.
  9. Never said he was a huge leader in Energy. But if you are going to mock, know that he was the one that said something should be done. Bush laughed it off.
  10. Personally, I am getting tired of everyone blaming the media. Granted blood & guts stories sell newspaper and TV shows. However I would imagine that there are more bad stories to good.
  11. Don't hate Democrats... funny that's the side you bash about 98% of the time. Seems to me that the republican side doesn't necessarily have a lot of ideas to through out to the public. Very good at bashing other ideas though. Many Republican elected officials lean towards Obama stating that he would lead from the center. McCain has voted/followed Bush policies 95% of the time last year alone. Let's face it, McCain in the past was about working with both sides. These days not so much. Yes, he has served in the military and everyone should respect that... that's a given. That being said, he's been in politics a long time, he knows how the game is played. I'm sure everything you see from him is not as rosey as it looks. Also, not liking him because of his positions on Roe vs. Wade, Labor and the Employee Free Choice Act, Mass Transit and of course Iraq. Of course you have to plan for the future. Seems to me that people are forgetting how to multitask and to do something now.
  12. No, there has been good news from there. Just as there has been bad news. People, like me, are getting tired of hearing about the "good news" when major officials involved come out and say that even though there have been some progress, we are not even close to the light at the end of the tunnel. Statements like those are what drive me to say it's not about winning, it's about knowing when to say we've done enough and to get out.
  13. I am sure that if McCain gets elected we'll go broke first.
  14. Wow you just hate Democrats don't you? He never said $5.00 is a good thing... he merely said as stated in another post. If prices were going to rise like this he wishes that it would have been a gradual increase. Not this huge rush. What's McCain's stance on this? Does he have a stance other than saying stay in Iraq, we'll never surrender? You are always on the attack, tell us why McCain is so great?? can you? UAW workers support a person who is for the working class. Simple question simple answer. McCain is not a big fan of the labor movement.
  15. Actually Kerry warned of gas prices going much higher than we could ever expect. Bush and the cronies mocked. Obama talks out both sides of his mouth... maybe, debatable. McCain just talks... it's just to bad nothing would change for the good with him.
  16. Of course they do now, they are all getting killed at the pump. I have merely said that there is going to be fight no matter the polling numbers. Yes, MY political party did this and did that... blah, blah, blah. Should we really discuss all of the wonderful things the republicans have done or want to do? I am not a member of the Sierra Club so I don't know what they have done lately or what their plans are. Anything else? Oh yes... there's more. When has Obama ever said he is fine with current oil prices? He has stated numerous times, a lot more than McSenile about building alternative fuel sources and to try to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil.
  17. 17 month trend after how many years...? yeah that's nice. Sorry, for me until the Iraqi government is ready to take over completely and troops are ready to come home... I'm not really going to call anything winning or mission accomplished, again.
  18. I can agree with that. I typed just a wee bit to quick. .
  19. Again, most people do not like to or want to drill in the US. Ok, so we open up ANWR or the Gulf... then what? We pay $5.00-$6.00+ till the oil starts to come out and the we start refining?? I am bitching, but I am bitching how politicians are dwelling on the longterm instead of the here and now AND the longterm. Take care of what's going on now first. Sorry if you didn't get that.
  20. I would say we're "winning" when are troops are coming home. Not before, not one minute.
