  1. Yep & some of us realized the pick to draft EJ in the first was a major reach right the night of the draft. People on this board really need to start paying more attention to college football, which is a much better game then the NFL anyways. Manuel is what he is. @ FSU, he was widely inaccurate on midrange to long passes, he could run but was hesitant to use his legs as a consistent weapon, he struggled to see all the field, hence why Fisher pretty much ran a simplistic offense where he only had to survey a quarter of the field on each read. Ask some of the FSU fans on this board what EJ was in college. The Bills got the exact same guy. Why poeple think a guy is going to change in the NFL where the windows are so much tighter & the game is so much quicker is beyond me. People fall in love with the good arm & a guy's 40 time. Doesn't mean he could play QB in the NFL though. A lot of GM's still have not figured this out.
  2. & the actually ended up beating Drew Brees & the Saints in the opening weekend of the playoffs. Hassleback played out of his mind that day. I know I had money on Seatle as an 8 point underdog at home. After 14 years of non playoff football, I don't 5-11 wins the division(& it just might) I will take it. Last home playoff game at the Ralph was 18 years ago. That is pretty crazy if you think about it.
  3. I was one of them. I said if Bridgewater was there when we pick we should pull the trigger. One game hardly makes a career but he is off to a good start.
  4. On the way to work today Joe B who was at the game said there were receivers open all afternoon long & Manuel refuse to pull the trigger & when he does he usaully sails it 10 yards over their heads. The pick was a reach when we made it, this guy is not an NFL QB. The problem is though marrone/Whaley are married to him because they picked him. If he fails they are probably out this year & they know it. It is a shame. I honestly think the Bills have one of the best WR groups in the league. That talent is being wasted.
  5. I agree. & if the $75 million isn't enough I would also throw in 10% ownership if I was Pegula. A QB like EJ does not come around often.
  6. I am a lifelong Mets fan so I despise the Yankees. I hated Jeter with a passion growing up in my 20's. A funny thing happened when I got in my 30's, I started really admiring & respecting him. He is a once in a lifetime player. Not the most talented. You really can not judge Jeter on stats like Olberman tried to do on ESPN the other night. There is just so much more to his game then numbers. The one play that sums up his career the most is that play in playoffs against Oakland at the Colisseum when the guy was coming home for the go ahead run in scoreless game(can't remember what inning it was, think it was the 5th or 6th), the cutoff was overthrown, the runner was going to easily score as the catcher could not get the ball & out of nowhere Jeter picks the ball flicks it to the catcher for the tag out. Jeter had no business being around that ball but he always just new where to be on the field. That play will never show up in the stats, but it pretty much sums up Jeter's career & why the guy should be the first ball player ever to go into the hall of fame with a 100% of the votes. (although anybody that votes against Riveria getting in should have their vote taken away).
  7. He threw for almost 4,000 yards last year while tossing 24 td passes & 17 ints. We will see at the end of the year if EJ even comes close to those stats. I am not a big RT fan(weird situation, started out as a receiver at A&M, did not have a ton of experience at QB, was forced into the QB situation because the guy who was starting, can't remember his name lept turning the ball over at an alarming rate). But for you guys basking in the glow of RT the Dolphins close to pulling the plug on him, we are probably going to be in the same situation this time next year.
  8. I think it is pretty clear that the Bills need to make the playoffs this year or there is going to be a house cleaning. Pegula had to learn from his mistake with the Sabres giving Darcy & Regier more time then they should of gotten. Don't think Marrone & Whaley don't know it either. I said it at the time of the draft, this is what drove them to pull the trigger on the Watkins trade. THey desperately needed a playmaker & they got the best playmaker in the draft. Their thinking let's roll the dice this year, if it doesn't work out who cares about the number 1 given up because they are not going to be around next year anyways. But let's not push the panic button just yet. The division seems as vulnerable as it has in 14 years, we are still in first place & have a very winnable game coming up against noodle arm fitz and the texans.
  9. Yeah this is where I am at. As bad as he played EJ needed to make a few give me plays that any NFL QB should be able to make in his sleep for the Bills to have a serious chance of winning. The sideline throw to Watkins where he had about 5 steps on the defender. Of course EJ throws 10 yards over his head(into the wind mind you) & the crossing pattern to woods where there wasn't a defender within 10 yards of him @ the 50. He hits woods in stride there instead of throwing it a second or 2 too early & 5 yards behind him. He completes those 2 passes which were easy passes to complete & the Bills probably win. That is not asking too much of your QB. Although, there may have been a penalty on the Bills on the Watkins throw. Can't really remember, I got pretty f*cked up at the game yesterday. Also, why would Marrone punt it when your on the SD 45 yard line down 2 scores & they could of took the offsides penalty & went for a 4th & 1. Instead they took the holding penalty & SD took over at the 10 yard line. That is a nobrainer, you go for it all day long when your down 2 scores in the 2nd half. & of course Rivers took them on an 8 minute drive.
  10. According to you noone should ever complain when the schedule comes out that the Bills got to play three/four west coast games in a year. I guess your opinion is it doesn't matter if a team plays in their own backyard or has to fly 2,500 miles thru 4 different time zones. None of that has an effect. Would you feel more confident in a Bills win this Sunday if they had to fly out to San Diego & play the game there?
  11. I wouldn't dismiss the fact though that the Chargers played a physical game in the opener, played the world champs on a short week where the temperatures were sweltering & about 30 degrees above normal of what San Diego usually gets this time of year & now have to fly 2500 miles across the country for an early 1pm start(10am local time). I am not saying the Bills are going to win but this should give them at least a bit of an advantage. In other thoughts, what is going on with the temperatures out west. I always thought San Diego's claim to fame is that they have the perfect moderate temperatures, never too hot, never too cold, mid 70's I thought was the norm there. I was watching Michigan St/Oregon a few weeks ago which was played in Eugene & the temp there was 100 degrees. I thought it was literally impossible to get that hot there. It is kind of weird isn't?
  12. I will watch a game just to listen to him. I am not sure if you like college basketball but that is his true calling. It is a shame that ego's got in the way when his contract was up & he decided to jump ship to fox. I mean he is good on college football but when bball rolls around fox really does not have a presence like CBS or ESPN. Those 2 networks control college basketball. He works for the Big 10 network in college basketball & I believe he does the Big 10 torunament for college bball. Still not the same. He was the best CBS had & they let him walk for more money, He is way better then that arrogant prick Jim Nance if you ask me.
  13. They did not drop him. He is on fox's #1 team for college football Saturdays. He had the Michigan St/Oregon game a few weeks ago. It was a money issue with CBS when his contract was up. He wanted #1 team money the problem was he wasn't going to be their #1 play by play man. He would be on the 2nd or third team. CBS messed up though because Gus's real calling is college basketball & for them not to renew his contract they lost him for March Madness, which I think was a big blow to them. It is either love or hate him. Some people don't like him because he messes up the stats & such, but he brings an energy to the booth like no other play by play announcer out there.
  14. Jesus that is rough. The best part of having inlaws is dropping the kids off so we could go out. Her parents always liked me mostly because I treat their daughter good & the boyfriends before me were real pieces of work. Not that I am some great catch either but compared to her last 2 boyfriends I guess I am not so bad(her one boyfriend right before she met me 20 years ago OD on cocaine about five years ago). My MIL is a pain in the ass but she is a good lady at hear. My FIL is a good guy, he has bailed me out of a couple jams I have been in my younger days when I got a little bit in over my head with gambling. He always had a soft spot for me with the gambling. He was actually pretty dam close to a millionaire when he retired 10- years ago, but he has probably lost 75% of his life savings to the casinos. I get a little bitter at it when I think he basically gave the casinos my inheritance but ah what are you going to do. The guy likes to gamble, I could certainly relate to that & on the + side seeing what happened to him pretty much made me swear off casinos. I have not been to a casino around here in probably 7 years & even when I go to Vegas it is strictly the sports book for me. At least I have a fighters chance there.
  15. Agreed. We got in right at 9 at lot 5 & I could not believe that grass lot was packed already. The Bills lot was filled instantly at 9. I don't remember ever a game like that where the lots were filled so early. Usually it takes to 10-1030 to fill them. Also, maybe it was just in my section or where we were tailgating but I did not see anybody fighting arguing. Just seemed like a way more festive mood yesterday then in games from years past.
  16. Agreed, + don't forget they played a physical game yesterday against a physical opponent in what was 110+ degree temps. That has take a bit of a toll also.
  17. I will say it right now. I will be very surprised if the Bills lose more then 1 game at the Ralph this year. They will probably either lose to Green Bay or NE. I love our chances this week against SD. West cost team, coming off a tough physical win in 110 degree temperatures on the field no less, having to fly all the way back east for a 1pm start(10am west coast time). I will be very surprised if the Bills lose this Sunday.
  18. Tops has the skinless hotdogs. You buy them right at the deli. This is going to be a good one to go to. All that has happened this past week with the sale & such, perfect almost October football weather, both teams coming off of wins. Have fun everybody at Hammer's tailgate. We got about 20 people coming, we will be in the Bills lot off of Southwestern. Maybe I will take a stroll over, I would love to meet some of you guys/gals. Hard to find the time though, especially with the 9am start. Anyways have fun & be safe!
  19. Totally agree. Over the last few years I have really gained respect for Lebron & I thought he was going to go back to Cleveland. it was the right thing to do. Vegas just posted Cleveland 3-1 odds to win the championship next year. Miami is 100-1.
  20. Yes next year when I call I will make sure everybody is out of the house. You may want to try one more thing. This worked for me one year. They gave me the discounts like you but it was not free. I called back about a week later, go to cancellation & when they pickup say "you know I appreciate the discounts & I am grateful but 2 of my friends just got Direct TV & they got the ticket for free. I just don't think this is fair as a loyal customer, can't you do something else for me? It worked for me the one year, they gave me some more discounts. I don't know, it is worth a shot.
  21. I am totally with you on this. I dreaded making the call but once I am on the phone the adreline starts kicking in. I got my wife & my son laughing their asses off in the background so it was kind of tough to keep a straight face but in the end it is all worth it.
  22. It was my fault. I had an extra box & installation back in April. They said it was going to be $200+ for this but if I extend my contract for another(it was already under contract until appril 2015) they would give it to me for free & I said okay. I knew when I was doing this I would lose a lot of my leverage for Sunday Ticket. They made me work for it this year but in the end they gave it to me for free. I think this is the third year in a row I got it for free.
  23. My wife went to the concert last night. She has been to numerous concerts, really to many to list. She says this was the best concert she has ever been to.
  24. Okay made my second call today. As soon as I got the prompts I said "cancel service." They asked me if I am cancelling because I am moving I said no. They sent me right to retention. I said how much is if I have to cancel my service. She said you are under contract until April 2016 so it would be $420. She said "is something wrong?" I said "yeah, I called yesterday & the guy I talked to only gave me a $5 charge off each month for Sunday Ticket, that is an insult." She said I agree. I then said I will get back to you, I am going to see if I could get someone to credit some of the $420 if I switch to them I know TW has offered me a $350 credit in the past." I said I will call back in a few days." She said hold on, I think I could play around with the system for you give me a minute. " I was put on hold for about 10 minutes. She comes bacjk & says "okay this is what I can do, I could give you the Sunday Ticket max for $160, it will hit your bill but I will also give you a $160 credit this month so your bill will be the same. I will also since you have been so patient give you an additional $10 off per month for the next 12 months. I said perfect. I never got nasty or raised my voice. If she called my bluff I was just going to hang up on her. That my friends is how you negotiate your free sunday ticket. I ahve been a customer since 2005.
  25. Just sent the first shot out. This might be tougher then I thought. My contract runs thru 2016. The guy said he would give me $8 off a month for the next 6 month & red zone for free. I calmly told him that is an insult & told him to cancel my Sunday Ticket which he did. I am going to call back Friday & pull the old Time warner is giving me a $350 credit so cancel my service. If they call my bluff I am just going to hang up on them.
