That was great when Florida & Miami used to play each other. I get it with Florida's conference schedule it is tough to schedule tough OOC schedule but it was fun to watch. I always say College Football just seems a lot better when the BIG 3 from Florida are good kind of the same way when UCLA & USC are good in the same year(which rarely happens)

My daughter & wife are going over her cousins house in west Seneca & my son who is 16 is going to a party so it is just me Saturday so I am going to hopefully get a round of golf in Saturday morning & then I decided I am going build a fire in the driveway in the afternoon, bring the tv out to watch college football, drink about 20 beers and I decided to put a table out by the side walk with all sorts of candy & just tell the kids to help themselves. I don't care how much they take when it is gone it is gone I guess. & besides after all these kids have been thru with this pandemic crap they deserve some extra candy! Oh yeah I think I am going to smoke some ribs too.

Trevor Lawrence Advised to Avoid Jets
Gordio replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But he was all set to go to Buffalo until Bruce Allen's phone call got thru. It was a viable option. The scenario you alluded to isn't a viable option for Lawrence due to the difference in money. So basically if the Jets get the first pick, unless the Jets are idiots and trade it away(ex...Irsay & the Colts) he will be playing for gang green or he will be playing for nobody. Like Ernie Accorsi said when he was about to swing the trade for Manning "you pass on a franchise QB & you end up regretting it for the next 10 years." -
The Fans in the stands, or lack thereof. Stats
Gordio replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Life is not fair. Like the one poster said why punish the people in florida/tenn/texas because they don't live under stricter guidelines set by the Governor. BTW, Manfred said last night before the rays/dodgers game that baseball isn't sustainable without the fans. Said teams loss over 2 billion due to no fans. Hockey has said they will not start the season unless there is a guaranty fans will be allowed. Sports will fold as we know it if this continues well into next year. -
Trevor Lawrence Advised to Avoid Jets
Gordio replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That will have nothing to do with whether Lawrence returns to Clemson or not next year The difference is the money is not comparable in the CFL/Arena/XFL. USFL at the time was paying top price for premium talents, especially at the QB position. -
Going by the book it was the right call at the time but I would be lying if I said I wasn't thinking the same exact thing at the time. Sometimes you got to think outside the box.

Beane should took Blankenship over Bass. That kid has kicked & kicked well in big games. Classic case of the Bills trying to get cute.

Last Night was 1991 week 6 in KC Revisited
Gordio replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That Detroit, that was after their 4th super bowl, that team was definitely on the down swing and that game showed it. I remember I was in Nevada visiting mky cousins that Thanksgiving. I remember we had a whole bunch of cousins watching the game. I couldn't believe how they were bad mouthing Kelly. They thought he sucked. Which was a different perspective than one on WNY, where for the most part everybody thought he was really good. I was taken a back by it. -
Totally agree with this. Was a senior in high school the first super bowl, what a great time to be a Bills fan. But that time is over, it is a new era in Bills football and the future is bright. In some weird way, I think the Bills were held back because they were always looking back to the glory days. Perfect example was hiring MarV Levy as GM when he clearly wasn't qualified, or bringing Buddy Nix back. Hopefully next year they let us pack the stadium again because it will be quite the scene there next season if so.

Miami Dolphins cleared for full stadium capacity
Gordio replied to Big C's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What do you care, the Bills have already played them and beat them. Miami could play to packed houses the rest of the season, they still won't finish above .500. Seems a bit extreme at this stage of the game but so does not letting any fans in at the Ralph even though our daily is usually below 1.5%. Weird times we live in. -
Couldn't agree more.

As much as I like to gamble, I stay away from the casinos. When I go to Vegas I spend 95% of my time in the sports book. I never go to the Casinos around here. Used to play a lot of Black jack & some Craps but I don't know, between the automatic card shufflers & the idiots at the table that don't have a clue the right way to play I have kind of loss interest. I never touch the slots. I have seen first hand what the slots can do to a person plus I like to see where my money is going. MY FIL, who I love, lost his life savings playing Video Poker, & when I say his life savings I mean he probably loss close to a million over the years. Sad but I could see how it happens. My friends old boss, who retired & moved to Vegas him and his friends created some kind of device on their phones, they would scour the strip and find weak roulette dealers that would spin the wheel with similar speeds everytime and they would be able to predict what quadrant the ball would land in. They made a fortune, but got caught & got banned from most of the Casinos in Vegas. It is an interesting story though.

What did so many of the draft experts miss about Allen?
Gordio replied to Batman1876's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I always have a big college opener party & I had Wyoming on one of the TVs and watched most of that game. I had a lot of money on Wyoming that day so I distinctly remember that game. His decisions seemed late & he seemed really bothered that day by the Iowa pass rush. But like you said he had no talent around him, especially playing a decent power 5 team. He had similar problems against Oregon 2 weeks later when he went 9-24 for 64 yards and 1 int in a 49-13 loss. That is when I really had doubts about Allen. -
Yeah they had a lot of people opt out and loss a ton of talent to the NFL. Coach O is okay but don't confuse him with Saban or Urban Meyer. He was blessed with a once in a life time generational team last year that even he couldn't screw up. They are going to lose 3 or 4 games this year and be irrelevant with consideration to the National Championship

What did so many of the draft experts miss about Allen?

One thing did concern me with Rosen. I remember his last year at UCLA, opening weekend they were playing Texas A&M at the Rose Bowl. A&M was up huge & Rosen lead the Bruins back to a monumental comeback. He was terrific in the second half. When he threw the winning TD pass with about 40 seconds left, the place was going wild, Gus Johnson was the play by play guy and he was gushing about Rosen, while the rest of the team was celebrating Rosen kind of celebrated by himself, jumping up in the air towards the sideline but none of his teammates were mobbing him. I got blasted by a few posters when I brought it up at the time, but I think it was very telling. Rosen is a me guy and not a leader of men and not very liked by his teammates. -

I watched Allen a few times in college and never came away really impressed especially when he would play upper tier opponents like Iowa opening day 2017. It wasn't pretty. What kind of changed my thought process about Allen was I was out drinking with my boss around Christmas time and his son & friend came up to meet us. His friend went to Wyoming. he told me "don't read too much into Allen's stats, he has no talent around him & throwing to a bunch of walk on receivers." I started changing my tune about him. I knew his tangibles were off the chart compared to the other QB's coming out that year. With that being said, I would of took Rosen. Glad I was wrong. -
The Jalen Ramsey Foot In Mouth Thread
Gordio replied to KingBoots8's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have all seen worse contact, but it was the right call. You can't make that much contact with the receiver after 5 yards and not expect a call. Does the ref always call it, especially in that situation, no. It is nice to see that the bills benefitted from this with the game on line Kuddos to the ref for throwing the flag. -
Ryan Fitzpatrick: Hall of Famer? or First Ballot HoFer?
Gordio replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Interesting topic. Fitz' certainly has the stats for the HOF. I was watching the game a bit yesterday, and he is fun to watch. The guy just doesn't give a sh*t & flings it wherever he feels like it. He is brett Favre without the rocket for an arm. But he has made it work. The thing that is going to keep him out of there is he never played in a payoff game, that is a nail in the coffin for a QB in terms of making the HOF. -

Masters Golf Tournament Ticket Lottery...
Gordio replied to LabattBlue's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Well I am an out of towner and have been in it for 15 years & never won. Just got notified yesterday I didn't win for the 2021 Masters. My buddie won tickets to the practice round this year but there not letting fans in. I haven't talked to him in awhile but my guess is they just took whoever won this year & forward it to next year. & yes if I won tickets I would look to scalp. -
I want to ask a question without seeming insensitive and Exile in Illinois last year when the fires were going explained it better than I could but these fires especially in Calif seem inevitable every year. Why do people continue to flock to Calif? It is pretty obvious these forest fires are inevitable, as they happen every single year. Your house has a chance to burn down every single year, the air is polluted constantly due to the smog, over crowding, the real estate pricing is in another stratosphere compared to most of the country, earth quakes, gangs, scores of homeless people. Exile explained last year that Calif with it's climate & terrain was just not meant to be lived in, yet it is the most populas state in the country. I mean are people drawn there just because of the weather. Been to Calif many times, it seems dirty to me. You got the ocean, but I have been to the many places on the East Coast & the West Coast & the beach towns on the east coast are cleaner & nicer and the water you is more suitable for swimming activities. The Beaches on the west coast the water seems dirty, dark & cold. I don't know why anybody would want to live in Calif.

BIG10 Cancels Cancelling the Season- It Starts 10/23
Gordio replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in College Football
Has one college kid that has tested positive for COVID even ended up in the hospital? I have heard they have had -0- hospitalizations. Life is full of risks. Stepping on that football field, kids have far greater risks than Covid. If this is truly your stance, than you should be against football all together. & BTW, spring is an awful dangerous idea on so many levels. So your going to have these kids play in spring, turn around 2 months later & start summer practices or getting ready for the kids that get drafted to go into NFL Camps for the first time. Talk about injury waiting to happen. My guess is you have never played a contact sport in your life.
