  1. I got a honest question. If the point of having off duty cops at your bar I assume was to keep the peace & prevent bar fights, why in the world would a bar owner hire these off duty cops if they basically were doing the exact opposite & instigating the fights. If I was the bar owner & as you described happened one time I would tell them your services are no longer needed here.
  2. I have said this when the trade happened that I have a friend that went to Pitt & still has very close friends that have inside connections to that program & when the trade went down he told Mccoy is a bad dude. I didn't mind so much what we gave up for Shady(Kiko is damged goods) but I did mind giving him a new contract with all that guaranteed money when we held all the leverage & could of made him play under his old contract. Shady never wanted to be here in the first place & it took a new $40 million contract to make him to start tio warm up to the idea of playing here. Not exactly the kind of guy I would of liked the Bills to build a team around. & to Zonabb - great post this is exactly how I feel. Back in the 90's when the Bills loss I would be miserable for the whole week. Now I am over the loss before I even get home. Having kids changes your perspective on things. At least it did for me.
  3. Pitt has grass. Just put the stuff we have in now & I don't see a problem with it. I agree with you first point. It would be detrimental to the program to play in a stadium every week that holds 65-70 k & have only 8K people show up. UB Students for some reason just don't want to support their teams no matter how good they are. A few years back I took my son to a Tuesday night game played in early November. It was a big game, I think it was against Ball State but can't remember the opponant. I remember a win though & the Bulls had the inside track on winning their side of the division to go to the MAC championship. I thought the stands would be packed with students(Tuesday night game, Veterans day the next day, no classes, ESPN is showing it on the deuce). They had about 500 student in the one corner of the lower bowl & that was it. It is the same with basketball. I am not saying the MAC is a power five conference but it is a very good mid major conference. When UB is half way decent(like most years) they should be packing Alumni Arena. They couldn't even sell out last year when they had a legitamate fringe top 25 team. UB students suck. They probably don't but if you ever been there the stadium is not good. I believe it was built for the World University games so it has this huge track around the field. The stands are so far away from the field especially in the end zones it is stupid. Although everytime I have gone they have the one endzone tarped off & the other endzone has very few people sitting there. Even if the stadium was packed the atmosphere would suck. Alumni Arena is a different story imo. I think that is a perfect venue for a school like UB. Too bad the students are too lazy to support a decent program. They did get the Defensive Coordinator from Penn State years ago & he turned out to be one of the worst coaches they ever had.
  4. Nah I hear what you & LA are saying but I just am not comfortable doing that. At that point I am pulling against the 10 & hope to catch 2,3,4,or 5. I know it is not the way the book says. I used to go up to the Casino when I was younger & play black jack all the time. I was pretty successful at it too. If I get to the Casino 2 times a year now it is a lot. When I go to Vegas(which I haven't been there now in 3 years) I pretty much stick to the sports book. May play about 20 minutes of black jack the whole weekend I am there.
  5. That is another one I don't agree. What if your splitting 8's against a 10. Assuming your getting a 10/face card you end up with 18 & assuming the dealer pulls the same the dealer ends up with 20. You just made a bad hand worse & doubled your losses. I do agree always split aces no matter what the dealer is showing.
  6. I know the book says to double down always on 11 but I usually don't double down if the dealer is showing 10.
  7. Yeah could be. It will be much less than what the 49ers owe him though.
  8. Be careful what you wish for. I still think Kap has got some upside to him. He is a dynamic player & if anybody could get something out of him it is Chan. When he gets cut he will sign with the Jets on the cheap my guess is so it would be little risk on the Jets part.
  9. Yeah I understand but to call David Carr one of the best QBs ever to play college football is a bit of an exaggeration. I mean obviously he was good enough to get drafted #1 overall but come on. He played out at Fresno St. They had a decent team but they were an afterthought in the grand scheme of big time college football.
  10. The months they are playing the only real hot weather would be in September. Once it hits October it becomes dramatically cooler there. Vegas is a weird climte. It heats up very quickly once Late April/May hit & it cools down very quickly once October hits. They would probably have to find some place cooler to have training camp but all they would have to do is head out to the coast.
  11. It is no hotter than Tuczon & the Cardinals played in Sun Devil Stadium for years. I see your point about the gambling but if they use that as an excuse it is very hypocritical. Gambling is what makes the NFL the most popular sport. Agreed, early September maybe rough but just don't schedule home games that time of year & if they do schedule them at night. I have been to Vegas a few times in October & it always seems like it is in the high 70's low 80s there. Very comfortable for watching football & much better than Florida that time of year.
  12. I agree, can't really remember 77 because I was only 4 years old but bottomline is we only got 20 inches of snow. Like I said don't remember but I don;t know how people could say it was worse then the 8 feet we got in 2001 or the 8 feet we got last year.
  13. Good take. Marv was a good coach for that team in the fact that he was able to control so many egos but he wasn't a coach that was going to beat you with ingame adjustments. But lets not kid ourselves. The Bills of that era won because on most Sundays they had far superior talent. That team was stacked.
  14. I have been wrong about this before but it just seems different this time. Brady will be 40 next year. Guys in their 40s are not supposed to play football in the NFL at a high level. They better fix that line or he will not make it thru the season next year. Denver's D will keep them in it for awhile. I just don't see Manning making enough plays to beat Carolina.
  15. I honestly think that we saw an end of an era with these 2 qbs yesterday. Neither one looked good & my guess is Manning is going to have a tough time with that Carolina defense in 2 weeks. Manning is nuts if he comes back next year & I think your going to start to see a steep decline in Brady's performance going into next season. He has knocked around in these past 2 months more than I have ever seen. It also seems Like the refs for the most part have put the whistle away when it comes to late hits on Brady. Fathertime has yet to be beaten. Manning for the most part this year was terrible. He simply can't make the plays he needs to make anymore. He missed guys open yesterday down the middle for tds that a few years ago he makes in his sleep. Brady, the blue print is out on how to beat him. His line is a mess & you need to hit him early & often. There were some throws I thought he could of stepped into but was throwing off his back foot because he was concerned with the rush.
  16. Yeah I know he was drafted 6th, but I beluieve several teams passed on him that liked him because they were scared he was going to play college ball. The Reds were one of those teams that passed over on Jeter. They get a pass though since they already had Barry Larkin.
  17. Always thought the baseball draft was weird. Players don't have to declare, if they don't like where they get drafted they simply go back to college. I always love the story of Jeter. He was a top prospect but several teams passed on him due to they thought he was going to go Michigan. He also, due to a hrroible spring up north only played liked 13 games his senior year of high school. When the Yankees called his representative, I believe it was Stick Michaels, they asked him, "we like derek but we are scared he is going to go to Michigan." Michaels reply was a classic, "he isn't going to Michigan, he is going to Cooperstown.".
  18. yeah you never know. Piazza was drafted in 62nd round & he was only drafted because his father asked Lasorda to draft him as favor & he just got elected to the hall of fame.
  19. I agree it was easy but you have obviously never been to spring break in Cancun in the early 90's. It was laughable how easy it was to hook up down there at that time. Florida was still big on the spring break circuit at that time & the sausage fest usually happened on the beaches of Daytona/Lauderdale. Cancun at the time seemed like where a lot of girl fraternities would head down too. The result was a 10-1 girl to guy ratio which made it easy pickings for me & my (*^*&%^$^#friends. Good times!
  20. Have to agree with you on that point. My friend had a girlfriend at Geneseo & we would go up there on Saturday nights every once in awhile. It was so easy to meet girls down there. There were so many of them.
  21. K thinks Duke should get every call come crunch time & for the most part they do especially at Cameron. When they don't get those calls K whines and pouts like the little b*tch that he is.
  22. Why aren't you crazy about Palmer? Just curious. I like to see him get a ring before he retires. I always liked him.
  23. who honestly cares. The AFC has beocme so predictable it is really boring to watch. You just knew KC would shoot themselves in the foot Saturday night& take themselves right out of the game. I could care less who wins that Sunday. Brady/Manning, both of them should of been out of the league 3 years ago if history of aging Qbs are any indication but here they are still going strong. it defies all logic. Sick of seeing both of them. My only hope is one of them wins the whole thing & decides to call it quits.
