  1. I love it on this board. Whenever someone criticizes WNY or living here that is fine, but when someone says something negative about other parts of the country they have no idea what they are talking about. I have been to LA a bunch of times. it is dirty, there is no greenery, it is a desert in a valley. It looks like it is cloudy every morning because the smog is so bad. My friend bought a house & paid $650K for & had to make a game room out of his garage because the house is so small. It takes 2 hours to get to anywhere because the traffic is so bad. I don't think it is a nice place to live. That is just my opinion.
  2. Yeah really. Obviously the ocean is the ocean & the scenery is beautiful but as far as water activities go Lake Erie is much more swimmer friendly than the Pacific Ocean. You don't have to wear a wet suit to keep your body temperature in check & there is no chance of getting attacked by a 18 ft Great White Shark in Lake Erie. Most of California & in particular LA is a sh*thole. Yeah sure there are nice parts & obviously you can't beat the weather but ....if you make a million dollars a year you can enjoy those nice parts. But for the 95% of the populations, chances are you live like a bunch of animals. I will take my average salary & live a very nice life in WNY.
  3. Haha, I hate the Patriots. But...Brady did throw for 400 + yards yesterday. Seems like things never change in the AFC East.
  4. This is going to be one boring team to watch this year Promo. I am not checking out but I did give up my season tickets this year after 18 years & right now I have no regrets. Their offense is going to be very bad all year. The Watkins trade was a bad one & will haunt this team all year. I am not wasting any more Sundays on this team this year. They are a 4 win team at best. The defense will keep them in some games(I think the defense is pretty good) but it is just so hard to win when you have very few play makers on offense. They have one. Shady. Good defenses will easily neutralize him(as Carolina did yesterday & as Denver will do next week). Also, MCD was in way over his head with the clock management yesterday. That worries me. Usually coaches don't get better at that. It is going to be 78 & sunny out next Sunday afternoon. I will be at Byrnecliff golfing.
  5. I hate this argument. There is plenty of other stuff to do in Buffalo too. I love the beach argument. My friend lives out in Long Beach, he says he rarely goes in the beach. Says it is dirty & cold. Lake Erie is much nicer at least for swimming activities.
  6. Orchard Park is literally a 10 minute drive from downtown Buffalo. That is a lot different then the SF/San Jose situation.
  7. So were Bills fans. With good reason, those were the two best offenses in the league & it wasn't close. That was one of the best games I have ever watched. Watched it with my dad. I remember Metz, stumbling for what seemed like a lifetime into the end zone on one of the pass plays. I miss those days.
  8. You couldn't spare the little guy a nice Ribeye steak for putting up with all you guys & invading his turf???? Or at least some of the leftover grilled raccoon, or possum or whatever the hell Cletus makes? & then you tell Hammer that it might give him an upset stomach? If I am buddy, next year for the opener first site of you I would bite your ankle or at least growl & scare the sh*t out of the girl you bring up.
  9. Of Course Carolina is beatable. They won 5 games last year. Now, are the Bills capable of beating an average team on the road? That is a whole another story. We shall see.
  10. This team looks like a 4 or 5 win team. They played the absolute worst team in the league yesterday. A win is a win & 1-0 is certainly better than 0-1 bit I will hold out my excitement until they beat someone else. Now if they go into Carolina & beat the Panthers is maybe changing my tune.
  11. Or you could just get the recipe out for that sick f*ck that posted the best way to cook wings & the way he does it is to microwave them. I forgot who said that but I think the mods banned him or 10 years for stating such a ridiculous statement.
  12. These guys have not proven anything in the league yet. They are not responsible for this 17 year playoff draught, but in the same respect, I am not giving them the benefit of the doubt either. They need to prove it to me. But if you look at what happened this offseason it reminds me of the same old cycle. They let Gilmore & Woods walk & replace them with high draft picks in White & Jones. Where have we seen this before? This has been going on for 17 years now & it is why we never get better. Other teams use the draft to add pieces, we use the draft to replace pieces with less expensive options. Why get rid of the young talent that are still on their first contacts. That is not how you rebuild a team. Get a clue. Watkins & Darby were hardly the problems.
  13. You do make a valid point. After 18 years I dropped my season tickets this year but....I did get tickets to the opener. My son & I are going so $220 for the tickers($110 each), $30 for the parking pass, another $50 for my share of the tailgate, another $40 inside the stadium on concessions & your talking a $300 day to see the 2 worst teams in football. On the bright side it is going to be a beautiful day & our tailgate should have about 15-20 people so I am looking forward to that.
  14. What they are doing makes no sense. You want to rebuild fine? You don't cast away young talented players for draft picks to do so. That is not the way to do it. Trading Watkins was indefensible & tells me all I need to know about Beane & Mcd & that is they are in way over their heads.
  15. I am really surprised that the brain trust at NBC didn't elect to put the Bills/Jets as the Sunday Night game of the week. Not quite sure what they were thinking. It is not often you get 2 powerhouse storied franchises matching up the first game of the week.
  16. Yeah that is an interesting story about your wife & her knack for gardening but it has little to do with the situation on hand. It is rookie hour down at 1 Bills Drive with 2 guys that are heading the ship that are in way over their heads. My guess is we will be talking about another full rebuild in 3 years after these guys are shown the door.
  17. I will take your word for it sir. You have been around these waters a lot longer than anybody else on this board.
  18. If that is the case I am going to bet my mortgage on the under. Easy money.
  19. Best memory was the 31-0 beat down of the Pats. The Bills roster was loaded with big name players & we just added Spikes. I thought the Bills finally arrived. Worst memory, the year before, Bledsoe's first game, tied it up late on Moulds TD down the seam to send it in overtime. Crowd rocking, Morton returns the kickoff in OT. Couldn't believe it. It was like a funeral procession walking out of the stadium. I get home, I was just married the year before. We bought our house & every time I would let myself in the side door by the neighbors fence my neighbor's dog would jump up on the fence start barking & scare the crap out of me. It never failed. Well I get home from the game, pissed off, & in no mood. Sure enough I went to let myself in & the dog jumped on the fence & scarred the crap out of me. I looked at him & said "not today." Went in the house got a dozen eggs, went outside by the fence, & when he jumped up I pelted him from point blank range with 6 or 7 jumbo grade A eggs right in the snout. He went wimpering away. About a 15 minutes later, there is my neighbor at the front door reaming me out. We actually almost got in a fist fight. My wife was mortified, she wouldn't talk to me for 3 weeks.
  20. Two years ago you said it was going to be one of the worst winters ever in the Northeast & it was the mildest winter I could ever remember. I golfed 2 rounds in January.
  21. This Hurricane is bad news, reminds me of something that happened to me one time long time ago when I was out at sea. Japanese submarine slammed two torpedoes into our side, Chief. We was comin' back from the island of Tinian to Leyte, just delivered the bomb. The Hiroshima bomb. Eleven hundred men went into the water. Vessel went down in twelve minutes. Didn't see the first shark for about a half an hour. Tiger. Thirteen-footer. You know how you know that when you're in the water, Chief? You tell by lookin' from the dorsal to the tail. What we didn't know... was our bomb mission had been so secret, no distress signal had been sent. They didn't even list us overdue for a week. Very first light, Chief, sharks come cruisin'. So we formed ourselves into tight groups. Y'know, it's... kinda like ol' squares in a battle like, uh, you see in a calendar, like the Battle of Waterloo, and the idea was, shark comes to the nearest man and that man, he'd start poundin' and hollerin' and screamin', and sometimes the shark'd go away... sometimes he wouldn't go away. Sometimes that shark, he looks right into ya. Right into your eyes. Y'know the thing about a shark, he's got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'... until he bites ya. And those black eyes roll over white, and then... oh, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screamin', the ocean turns red, and spite of all the poundin' and the hollerin', they all come in and they... rip you to pieces. Y'know, by the end of that first dawn... lost a hundred men. I dunno how many sharks. Maybe a thousand. I dunno how many men, they averaged six an hour. On Thursday mornin', Chief, I bumped into a friend of mine, Herbie Robinson from Cleveland- baseball player, boatswain's mate. I thought he was asleep, reached over to wake him up... bobbed up and down in the water just like a kinda top. Upended. Well... he'd been bitten in half below the waist. Noon the fifth day, Mr. Hooper, a Lockheed Ventura saw us, he swung in low and he saw us. Young pilot, a lot younger than Mr. Hooper. Anyway, he saw us and come in low and three hours later, a big fat PBY comes down and start to pick us up. Y'know, that was the time I was most frightened, waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a life jacket again. So, eleven hundred men went into the water, three hundred sixteen men come out, and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945
  22. I would love to get Rosen or darnold. I would be sick if they pick Allen. I don't get the hype on this guy. He looked so overmatched against Iowa Saturday. He hasn't even put up that great of numbers.
  23. Haha, you can't blame my dad for that. They made 3 more super bowls & numerous playoff appearances after that game. No benching Flutie in favor of ROBO in the Music City Miracle is the real curse & until we have Flute lead the charge for one of the Bills home games the Bills will continue to miss the playoffs.
