  1. Being a lefty is funny when it comes to baseball. Yeah a good left handed pitcher is worth it's weight in gold but as far as positional players go it really limits you where you are playing. Like I tell the kids on my sons 14 U Travel team(I help coach). We have 2 lefties. I tell them your future if you don't want to be a pitcher, learn to play the outfield because outside of 1B, your not getting a chance at any other position,
  2. The argument there though is at least if you are paying for overpriced property you are building equity & will get that back when you go to sell. Taxes are a sunken cost. I bought my house in 2001, paid $210M for it. Houses in my neighborhood are selling for around $250M maybe a bit more for the bigger houses. My point is if I would of bought a house in California for say $350M or so back in 2001, I am sure that house would be worth double that in their market today. I pay 7,600 in taxes. I generally like living here but the early springs get to me. I love the summer/fall/late spring but perfect example today. April 3rd & it is 38 degrees outside. My son starts his baseball season next week for school. They are up in Clarence so they have a turf field so they should be able to get it in, but highs next week are only going to be in the upper 40s. More like late season football weather if you ask me.
  3. Yeah we thought about that but we didn't want to leave the jet ski floating out in the water. This was Mexico back in the 90's, & I have been to Cancun also for spring break. Acupulco had different feel to it. It wasn't the safest place like I felt Cancun was. Hotel people warned us to be careful as the crooked cops would look for any little thing to arrest the American college kids hoping to extort money out of them so I pictured me getting arrested for stealing a jet ski or something like that. I don't remember what kind of life jacket I had. Young & stupid.
  4. Yeah we were 20 years old & drinking tequila shooters all day. I don't think we had enough sense to look for a tow rope. Let me ask you a question, what were the odds of me trying to swim back to shore & making it back alive in your expert opinion? I did have a life jacket on. I was probably about a mile out or so.
  5. Possibly, but Rudolph's body of work in college is much more impressive than Edwards.
  6. I could see why you would say that. Rudolph has thrown in college for nearly 14 thousand yard, threw 92 tds to 26 ints & has a career 63% completion percentage. Edwards stats in college were earily similar, he threw for 5 thousand yards had 36 tds, 33 ints & had completion % of 56%. It is actually creepy how their college stats resembled each other.
  7. Hm that is weird. I have a plaque downstairs that says 48%. I thought that was really low because I remember hearing stories how he would throw it all over the field in the USFL.(I was only 8 at the time & don't really remember it.). I wondered if the HOF plaque I have is a misprint, because like I said I thought it seemed really low.
  8. Spring Break in Acapulco, I was 20 years old. Total drink fest. One day me & 2 of my friends decided to rent jet skis. The drunken idiots that we were we took these jet skis a mile, mile & half off shore. I could barely see the land. Well my jet ski stalled & I couldn't get it restarted. So my friends went back to get help. I was all alone floating out in the ocean. I have a great fear of sharks(like who doesn't) have watched way to many Jaws movies. I was out there for a longtime, I was debating whether I should try to swim back to shore. About a half hour into my adventure about a 7 or 8 foot hammer head shark swam right in front of my jet ski. I honestly nearly had a heat attack. About 40 minutes later 2 Mexicans that my friends got that rented us the boat came by & got the jet ski started again. I took the jet ski right in & did not go in the ocean for the rest of the vacation. Scariest hour of my life.
  9. Agreed. I think the U was actually considering dropping football all together sometimes in the 70's. The best thing for Kelly was going to the USFL for 2 years. That taught him how to be a passer & a true gunslinger. What is surprising is hearing stories of Kelly's days in the USFL(a tad bit before my time) it sounded like he could get anything he wanted done on the football field for those 2 years with the Gamblers. I have a hall of fame plaque down in my basement of Kelly with his signature & it lists all of his stats. Although he threw for a ton of yards/tds in those two years, he only completed like 49% of his passes. I thought it would be much higher than that.
  10. Marino also had a lousy senior year throwing for 17 TDS & 23 INTS compared to his junior year where he threw for 33 TDS. That had more to do with him dropping in the draft then the rumors of him doing drugs. His Pitt team which was supposed to compete for a national championship his senior year although I believe they went 9-3 was considered a disappointment. Kelly's stats sucked in college. His junior year where he played a full season he only threw for 13 TDs & also threw 13 INTs. He must of been viewed as having all the tangibles to be a big league QB because he certainly wasn't drafted because of his stats or play on the field.
  11. Nah, it is not close to an 8-10 points. OU has some quality wins. It is a coin flip game imo. Young gets hot & OU will win. Your way overrating how good RI is. Remember Arizona is only giving UB 9 points. Also RI has loss 3 out of their last 5 game I believe. They are not playing their best basketball + there are rumors Hurley is going to UConn. Should be an entertaining game.
  12. I like Rhode Island in this game. Oklahoma has not won a game outside of Norman in 2018. 0-10. They limped into the final stretch at 5-11 & probably should not even of made the tournament. All signs point to a convincing win by the Rams, which probably means OU will beat them by 20.
  13. Bill Walton certainly does make it more entertaining. I am not sure if he really is senile or he is just putting on an act but he says outlandish things & thinks the PAC12 is the top conference in the country. The guy who does the play by play along side Walton Dave Pasch must of slept with one of the top exec's wives at ESPN for them to stick him along side with Walton every year.
  14. They have underachieve a bit this year but with that being said they should of been no higher than a 3 seed. Remember they loss three games right at the beginning & started out I think 4 or 5 losses early on before the kids even went on holiday break. Since the new year they have been a much better team. I could actually see them winning it all.
  15. Bad bad draw for UB. Arizona has the Ayton, who is going to be the number 1 pick in the draft this summer & they are hot at the right time. They are underseeded, but I knew they would be with this FBI probe going on. Besides Duke they have the most talented NBA roster in the draft. Keep in mind that doesn't always add up to success come March but......UB is going to have to play out of their minds & shoot lights out(which they are capable of doing) to have a chance in this one. I actually like Bona's draw better, even with the play in game.
  16. Allen supporting cast was pretty bad. He was working with walkons at the receiver position. With that being said I would take Allen if by some miracle he is still sitting there when the Bills pick but I would not move up for him & give up all those draft picks. Way too many question marks. Bill Parcel's always said if a kid can't complete 60% of his passes in college what makes you think he is going to complete over 60% of his passes in the NFL where the windows are way tighter.
  17. Michigan is going to be a tough out. They have a terrific point guard & 4 or 5 reliable scoring options. Hopefully Bona & UB could take care of business this week & get into the dance. It could not of setup any better with Canisius for the Conference tournament with Rider getting knocked out & Iona in the opposite end of the bracket & they still laid an egg. Oh well, hopefully they will get an invite to the NIT.
  18. My dad was diagnosed with Colon Cancer last summer. It was also during a routing colonoscopy, he had to do 48 straight days of radiation, which made him a biot tired but none of the side effects that Chemo has, & he went back after the radiation & was given a clean bill of health. I don't think it was at stage 4 though, but I could be wrong, my dad never told me what stage it was in. Keep the faith brother. I will say a prayer for your mom tonight.
  19. It has been a great year for local college basketball. UB wins the MAC, Bona I think punched their ticket last night with the win against Davidson, Canisius tied for first & loss out on a tie breaker with Rider & will be the 2 seed & Niagara has had a nice year & will get the three seed. I think UB should win their conference tournament if they remain focused, they are clearly the best team in that league although I do worry about their defense at time, Canisius & Niagara both have a legit chance to cut down the nets next Monday especially since Siena (the home team) should not be much of a factor in this tournament, & Bona is in great shape. They got St Louis I believe this weekend. Win that one & get to the championship game in the A 10 & I don't see how the committee could leave them out. If UB or Bona get in watch out, they got the talent to make it through the weekend. My guess is Bona would be an 11 or 12 seed, UB would be a 13th seed. If Canisius gets in they will be a 15th seed. I love March!
  20. Fair enough & you make some very good points. On the other side though, don't complain when your draft stock falls because your not smart enough to know when to keep your mouth shut. That & his injury history & I would not trade up for this guy. & for the record I do think he is the purest passer & most NFL ready QB in this draft.
  21. I always get a kick out of the thought process of because someone is a famous actor, or a famous musician or a sports celebrity everybody is interested in their political opinions & their opinions. I could careless about what Rosen thinks about Trump or any of his other political views. I just don't care. Shut up and play football, no one is interested in what you think.
  22. I don't know, he is the most pro QB ready & pure passer in this draft, but don't confuse him with guys like Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, John Elway. This guy is far from a sure thing like those prospects were viewed.
  23. I agree with this. Say what you want about the tag but it couldn't of worked out any better for Cousins. He made a ton of money by being tagged the last few years & now he is set to hit FA. Oh he will get his $25 mill a year, the money will be there from several teams. Wouldn't be surprised if he left a few million on the table to go to a better situation than the NYJ.
  24. One thing that stuck out to me about Rosen. That Texas A&M game Labor day weekend. Great comeback by UCLA. When the Bruins were coming back & finally went ahead, Rosen was excited but kind of looked like he was celebrating by himself. No teammates really came up to hug him & such. They were celebrating with each other but really not with Rosen. They showed a sideline view of him after the go ahead TD & He was kidn fo sitting by himself pondering his thoughts. You think his teammates would be mobbing him at that point. Actions speak louder than words & no matter what is stated publicly I don't think he is a very like individual. Not a deal breaker in my book, but coupled that with his injury history & it is a tough call to trade the farm to move up in a position to be able to draft him.
