  1. It depends upon how we evaluate the RBs but I would hope there is one we see worth taking and developing on the second day as I would rather we spend our first day picks on drafting positions like OL and DL which are more likely to turn this team into a winner.

1200 yards for WM next year would be nice, but the critical thing is for Fairchild to develop this O so that is uses the RB as nore of a pass threat. The Ravens game started off nicely with a very good pick-up on a pass reception by WM which was called back due to an illegal motion penalty (I think) or something which had little to do with the success of the play. WM is unproven as of yet as a receiver, but this is because we have not used him that way and he has shown some potential the few times we have done this such as the opening of the Ravens game.

The key here is that he has no leverage if he holds out and Rosenhaus' past MO is that his players do not hold out. If he has a great season he still has little leverage since if he is that good we simply tag him,

That is the great thing about rbs, some of them, if they are talented enough can usually jump into an NFL system & hit the ground running. This aspect is honestly why there is no trade value in Rbs anymore. That & they usually have a short shelf life. Let Willis play out his last year & no matter how well he does bid farewell when the season is over. Now there is exceptions to every rule(LT & Larry Johnson come to mind). If he does have an unreal year, the bills could franchise him. The bills are in a no loose situation here as long as they dont panick like they did with Clements.

  2. So that means that he can't?

Hmm - this is a team game - if they are running away from him - or worse straight at Fletcher - you won't hear his name much. He can't necessarily control that.

Last I checked that's a "leader's" job. Speak for the group. Right? You can't tell me he was the only one that was upset about TV. Whitner and Simpson were in that guy's pockets all pre-season. Fletcher wasn't mad either? Come on - this is lame. He spoke up because that's his job.

If he comes back next year in top form then I guess that's fine. If not, I guess it's not.

I guess I can go along with waiting till after next season - but I haven't heard anything from you so far that tells me he needed to be axed immediately. Perhaps the best idea is to see what he does during camp??

If you went to the games, or watched the games closely or even looked at the stat sheet you wouldnt have to ask this question. Spikes was brutal this year.

  3. It was dispicable. Typical Billy Boy. Another thing, it would of been interesting to see if Belijerk would of even shook Mangini's hand if the pats lost. I would of bet a steak dinner he wouldnt. The guy is a sore looser, I guess winning 3 super bowls in 4 years will do that to you.

  4. Chad Pennington is underrated, so is J.P. Losman. You don't have to like the Jets, but the fact is with Pennington they went 10-6, without him they went 4-12. I think he and the o-line are more responsible for that change than Mangini's magic. He averages 7.2 yards per attempt, how that's possible when he only throws 5 yards is another story, but fact is he still completes passes. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/PennCh01.htm

I think J.P. will end up being the better QB and I don't think Pennington will ever get to a probowl. That aside he's still a top-20 consistant QB in this league. He's an upgraded Kelly Holcomb :pirate:

The problem with pennington is he is severely limited in what he can do due to arm strength. Whenever he has to fit a tight ball in, he cant do it. He is very smart & he does make the most of his talents & knows how to manage a game. He will never win a big game with the jets though.

  5. Come on. I want the Bills to stay in Buffalo forever, but it is unreasonable to expect any business person and his/her family to eat millions of dollars in lost revenue simply to make Bills fans happy. Bills fans are fantastic, loyal, borderline insane, etc., but not one fan has ever risked his own money to invest in the success of the franchise. Bills fans have supported an entertainment product with more loyalty than nearly any fan-base I can imagine---but not one of the fans have put their own money at risk to operate the Bills.

You must be fairly young because you refer to a $25,000 investment in a totally unproven product in the early '60s as if it was chump change. Back then---for this investment---it was viewed as burning paper money by a lot of potential investors. Note, too, that nobody in Buffalo put up that cash. In the early years, both the Buffalo franchise and the entire AFL came extremely close to collapsing and, later, the Buffalo franchise was stalked by outsiders for relocation multiple times over the decades. Ralph Wilson could have cashed out for a profit numerous times, but he didn't. He also could have moved the team, just like owners in St. Louis, LA, Baltimore, Oakland, and Cleveland---but again he stayed loyal to Buffalo. Moreover, you fail to realize/acknowledge or appreciate how much additional money---his own money---- this guy has tied up in the club during the intervening 40 something years. I doubt his "basis" in the franchise is $25K any longer.

Ralph Wilson has been loyal to the City of Buffalo for decades. Show him and his family a little respect. The Wilson family didn't create this insane economy and it is ridiculous to think that they should take a personal financial bath just to make "generations of Western NY Bills fans" happy.

If the future of the Bills is to be in Buffalo, civic minded investors need to put together a purchase offer that Ralph Wilson can live with while he's alive. If no one in WNY feels strongly enough about the wisdom of investing in the Bills' future in Buffalo, you can bet that people in one of the many "larger" markets will be interested and it doesn't need to be just LA. There are multiple cities, far more economically viable than Buffalo, that have been seeking an NFL team for years.

Their not going to have to take a personal financial bath. If the daughter had any decensy she would be willing to give a local buyer a hometown discount. Say someone in LA is going to give 750 mill, sell it to a local buyer for 500 mill assuming their is even a local buyer willing to do this. When your talking this dollar amount, call me naive but I really dont see how an extra $250M will create one more ounce of happiness in wilson's family lives. & spare me the financial business bs, Im an investment banker, so Im well aware of the importance of making money. Maybe it is because Im a die hard bills fan, but I think this case is unique. The whole collective psyche of WNY hinges on what happens. & no I dont think Im being overdramatic.

  6. I'm indifferent. I won't turn down a party invitation but I'm not setting aside an 8 hour block to watch teams which only spark my interest because of free agency especially when there are plenty of talent scouts right here to tell me who to hope for!

You should put some money on the games to make them more interesting.

  7. What do you think this is monopoly money we are playing with??? In order to do everything you said, Wilson would have to shoot out about 30-35 mill just for signing bonuses. People need to realize that if we do by some slim chance resign Clements, that is probably it for us in free agency. That is why Im kinda against resigning him.

I do like your draft, highly unlikely all those guys will still be around at the picks they were given. That would be great if they were though.

  8. Nope. You're forgetting about Frank Gore. TWO blown knees and an offensive line that is no better than the Bills' line, and quite possibly worse. Anyone who has watched him play will tell you that he's a man on an island on that offense, and that every yard he gets he gets himself. But you know what? He gets his hards, because he hits the hole like a man possessed. Same with Stephen Jackson, who plays behind an awful o-line - he single-handedly gashed the best rushing defense in the NFL on Sunday. There are RBs in this League playing behind horrible o-lines who perform better than Willis, and the only reason I can think of is that they want it more.

I go to the bills games but I also got the NFL ticket. When I get home @ 4:30 often times I have found myself watching the 49ers games because of gore. The guy is a beast. He reminds me of a bigger faster version of travis henry.

  9. I lived in Denver for 2 years right out of college. Very wierd weather. They get alot of their snow in Late fall/early spring. One day it will be 20 degrees & snow & the next day it will be in the upper 60/low 70s. Not at all uncommon to be in the middle of feb there & have the temps hit 70. Also, not uncommon to be as cold as high teens/low 20s in april & october. One last thing, Denver gets more sunny days per year then anywhere in the state of florida.

As for Buffalo, I have been back for 9 years now, noone can convince me that our weather is not totally blown out of porportion. It is not that bad. It seems like nowadays also that when it does snow it will melt within a few days. It is going to be around 50 here all weekend. In fact Im going out GOLFING tomorrow at Terry Hills.

  10. everyone is talking how key it is to sign nate, but given the choice between him or freeney i'd take the all pro DE everytime........an elite DE can make a so so CB look good.........it's not like we're talking about a huge difference in money - they're both going to get massive contracts..........it will be interesting to see if indy finds a way to keep freeney with the F-tag

This is a great point. In fact I will go as far as to say NC will command more money then Freeney. If everybody here is willing to throw 50 mill to sign Clements, why not take that money & throw it at Freeney. You get Freeney & Schobel coming off the ends with a slight upgrade at dt & I dont care who you have playing CB.

  11. Yikes....take it easy, pal. Something tells me you're not married.....

It's less of a hassle (to me) because the cable is easy to set up. I admit I don't know much having a dish, but I can't imagine the setup and configuration is easier than a dish. Plus, I'm not necessarily thrilled about possibly losing a signal if the weather is bad enough.

Yeah Iam married. The wife always complains about sports on tv. That is why I said. My poor attempt at trying to be funny.

  12. I know you didn't ask me, but I'll answer...

I'm "wedded" to cable because it's much less of a hassle than a dish (not to mention there's no way I'll get it if the wife has any say).

Why is it less of a hassle then a Dish? I switched 2 years ago & have not regretted it since. If you love sports it is the only way to go.

& why would your wife be against it???? Price is comparable. Grow a set of balls you fuggin p*ssy.

  13. For what it is worth, my friend's dad is one of the assistant equipment managers with the bills. He has been with the team for 4 years now. He has told me on more then one occasion how it is night & day with Levy running the show compared to TD. He said when TD was running the show, the whole organization was on pins & needles, his word was the law, that TD would walk into the room & the room would immediately go silent. He said with Levy it is much better. Levy is concerned with trying to make every aspect of the organization a better place, getting insight from guys like Modrak all the way down to the janitors on how to make the organization a more efficiently run place.

I think TDs downfall in the end was that he was too power hungry. It ended up costing him his job.

  14. Are you freaking kidding me? Talk about rose colored glasses. The Jets are so far ahead of the Bills it's not even funny. Yes Pennington struggles sometimes. He has alot of problems in the rain, but still found a way to win. I mean he did have 330+ yards last week indoors and almost always is around 65-70% completion. If JP did that this board would be happy as heck. The Jets also have a very good YOUNG coach. We have a retread in Jauron and a ridiculis geriatric GM and owner. The Jets also have an very good YOUNG offensive line, I won't go into what we have. They do need an everydown back, but they will address that with the draft of free agency. You see the Jets have money and will spend it on players. The Bills have cap room, but Ralph can't come up with the big signing bonus money like the big market teams. Also if the Bills do sign a free agent they will have to overpay because nobody want's to come to wetern NY. Last, but not least....In five years the Jets will still be playing in NJ, the Bills will be in CA, Canada or Mexico...but not in Buffalo. Yeah, the Bills are way ahead of the Jets...GET REAL FOLKS..THIS FRANCHISE WILL BE MEDIOCRE AT EBST UNTIL THEY LEAVE!!!!

Jauron is a retread that made Mangini look like a 2nd class jv coach 3 weeks ago. I like what they have done to their line(I love Mangold), but I dont think they are farther ahead of us because I feel we have our QB set next year, they dont. They are very limited in what they can do with Pennington & if they fall behind by more then 7pts their done. As far as Ralph not doling out signing bonuses, I think I read somewhere that the bills were like 5th or 6th in the league last year in giving out signing bonuses. So lets just see how the offseason plays out before we jump off that bridge.

  15. I was watching the jets game last night thinking the same thing. Kinda takes the sting out of the loss.

You know even though the jets are a Raiders victory from clinching a playoff I really think the bills are ahead of them going into 2007. We got our qb, watching Pennington a few times this year, I dont know how the jets win with him. He was hanging out his receivers all night last night. My thought on the jets are that after they get destroyed by NE, Balt or indy in the 1st round of the playoffs, Man Boobs is going to realize he isnt going to win anything with pennington(if he doesnt realize it already) & turn the reigns over to Clements. The jets will experience what we went thru in 2005. Hopefully the coaching staff botches this up as much as meathead did with us.

  16. I don't blame us for not selling out this game. It is going to be cold, family events are going on on X-mas eve, and it is going to be cold. Here is the thing to consider in Green Bay: that state does not have another sports team, save Badgers basketball, running currently. You cited the median income, well, this figure leads me to think people are spending their money on Sabres tickets. Who can blame them? The Sabres are very good this year, and people want to see a winner. The games are also inside, which is a bigger selling point than people think.

Actually, it is not going to be that cold. I think the high is supposed to be in the 40s. That is not bad for this time of year in Buffalo.

  17. Can I play too?

Ok it's mostly white with a blue trim going around the outside.  There appears to be several watermarks across the left edge.  There are also a bunch of numbers and dashes.  It has a perforated top edge.  I have no idea how any of this qualifies me as either a loser or not though.
