deep frying a turkey: tell me what not to do
Gordio replied to teef's topic in Off the Wall Archives
About 10 years go or so we were tailgating for a Monday night football against the Browns. We decided to deep fry a turkey. Seemed like a good idea. The tailgate & the deep frying went pretty well. I had my FIL's pickup truck. When we were done, before we were going into the game I was going to dump the oil out by this trash bin but one of the girls we were with started yelling at me, saying that is disgusting so I loaded the deep fryer with the oil back in the truck. I remember Cleveland beat us on like a 55 yard FG & I was really ticked off. Edwards threw a few picks that game. I remember pulling out of the lot & thinking to myself, your upset right now, just leave the deep fryer in the truck & worry about it in the morning when you get home. Well I didn't follow my own advice, tried to take the deep fryer out of the truck(I had a few drinks in me that night) & of course I spilled the deep fryer & all the oil went all over my driveway. Of course my friends were laughing their asses off & drove off. So I took the hose out from the garage & was spraying like crazy hoping this comes off. My wife comes out(it was 12:30 at night) & says what are you doing? & of course I told her to mind her own business & get the f*ck back in the house. So of course she ended up locking me out of the house. I had to sleep in my FIL truck. It was like 20 degrees that night too. Since then I have never brought a deep fryer to the Bills game. -
deep frying a turkey: tell me what not to do

We go over my sisters every year & my sister cooks a regular turkey in the oven & her husband deep fries a turkey. The deep fried turkey is 10xs better. He puts a Cajun rub on it. Doesn't seem to complicated, I would just keep an eye on the temperature gage. -
Predict the 4 teams in the playoff for college 2019-2020
Gordio replied to major's topic in College Football
Agreed, I think if it comes down to Bama or Pac 10 Champ Utah, Bama gets the nod. I would like to see the Utes in there, I am sick of seeing Bama. Utah has played lights out the last 4 weeks. I agree with you about Nix. I thought Auburn had another highly recruited kid that Nix was battling for the starting spot in the summer. I am surprised Gus hasn't gone to him at some point this season. The big games Nix has been horrible. It is almost like GM has given Nix a free pass this year when playing time is concerned. -
How is your family going to handle Thanksgiving?
Gordio replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That sounds great. I would love to do that. We go over my sisters every year. When the schedule came out I told my wife my son & I are staying home this Thanksgiving as I hate watching the game with 20 people all talking. My wife said "fine my daughter & I will go over my cousins this year." So everything was set until my cousins decided to come in from Vegas for Thanksgiving this year. So now, I can't stiff my sisters because my mom will be very upset so we are going over my sisters. My BIL does have a pretty sweet setup in his basement so I will go down there when the game starts & hopefully everybody else will stay upstairs. -
revisiting 2018 draft possibilities. Did we overpay?
Gordio replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hate this argument. If a guy can play he could play, stop it with the BS of oh he is in the perfect environment that is why he is good crap. Same thing with mahomes. Mahomes would be successful on any team in the league because he is super talented. -
Exactly, he is not elite anymore. He is 42, it is understandable. & the comparisons to manning are dead on in my opinion. I could totally see the patriots winning another super bowl in spite of Brady, just like the Broncos did. Manning was smart enough to know the bottle was empty & got out. I wonder if Tom will be smart enough. There is something about going out on top, not many players in the NFL do it, but when it is done right it is special. manning did it, Jerome bettis did it, Ray Lewis did & Elway did it. It will be interesting to see what Brady does. He looked devastated in his post game presser Sunday, like he knew the ride was just about over.

Lamar Jackson: I'll Be Having That Crow Pot Pie Now (edited title)
Gordio replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Jackson is more talented than Vick. He is a much better passer. -
yeah I am not sure how much they cost now, I do hear $100 plate is usually the norm. I think our wedding with everything came to about 18 grand & that was 18 years ago. We had about 220 people there.
-
My wife's friend invited us to her daughters wedding 3 years ago. It was at a nice place so we gave them $200 in an envelope. Right before we get in there a few of the people tell us it is a cash bar. So against my wife's protest I took $100 out of the card & only gave them $100. Weddings are the biggest ripoff there is. You spend $30 grand + for one evening. Although our parents paid for most of our wedding, they have become way too expensive. I am dreading when my kids get married, knowing that I will probably get stuck footing most of the bill all the while knowing it is a big fat waste of money. It is funny in my 20s/early 30s I used to love going to weddings. Get dressed up, get wasted with your friends. I can't stand going to them now.

Yeah that would be weird seeing him in another jersey. If that is the case why not just retire. He has nothing left to prove or accomplish. He has done it all.

Lamar Jackson: I'll Be Having That Crow Pot Pie Now (edited title)

L Jackson is Greg Roman's dream QB. He has everything in his arsenal that Roman wants in a QB. It is a perfect match. L Jackson is like Mike Vick on steroids. yes he is that talented. The people that compare him to T Taylor that is funny. Taylor has never had the skill set like LJ. Not even close. -
You didn't watch the game yesterday. Agreed with the OP, he doesn't look like Brady anymore. Set a record for himself with most incompletions in a first half in his entire career. Balls look like they have no zip. It was windy out there yesterday. If you saw him in his postgame presser, he actually looked like he wanted to cry, bizarre behavior after a win, I think he knows better than anybody the end is near. Please note they still have a decent chance to win the super bowl this year because that Defense is so good.

Bills should move CHRIS BROWN to Scouting Department

Not for his career he is not. -

Gordio replied to kirkwoodus13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your sample size is half a year. Lets see where he ends up at the end of the season. What was his completion % last year? BTW he is a 56% career passer in the NFL, just like he was at Wyoming. -

Gordio replied to kirkwoodus13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am just telling you what Parcells said Dipsh*t. I have no idea if he is going to be over 60% passer. He wasn't at Wyoming, where he was a 56% passer. I might add 60% is not what it used to be. The upper echelon QBs in the league are throwing for the most part over 65%. -

Yeah we will see where he ends up at the end of the year. That % has been going down from the beginning of the year. I am not an Allen hater at all. I like the kid, but... you could look at posts I made prior to the draft & my big concern with him was accuracy. Even the first drive last game, 3rd down slant to Brown, if he hits him in stride Brown has a got a big gain. He throws it 3 feet behind him. Those are plays he can't miss. There drive killers & game killers. The one miss down the seem to Mckensie was brutal. He seems he 3 or 4 bad misses every game & the Bills offense isn't good enough to overcome this sometimes. -

Excellent point, like Bill Parcels said, a guy that throws 50-55% in college, what makes you think he is going to be over 60% in the NFL. -
I actually stand corrected, they loss to Baylor that 2014 season to go 11-1. They were cochamps with Baylor & the Big 12 at the time had no Championship Game. They were #3 in the BCS going into championship week but ended up #6 after the conference championships played out. They beat Ole Miss 42-3 in their bowl game.
-
TCU got snubbed. They were undefeated & got jumped by a 1 loss Ohio St team. I know OSU won the championship that year but it should of never happened as TCU was 4th going into championship week. They won their conference championship game going away & somehow got jumped.
-
I tend to agree with this. If Bama gets in, there is no doubt in my mind they will win it. I got to believe Dabo, Day & Orgeon do not want to see Saban in the bracket.

2019 Playoffs. 1st round
Gordio replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not counting Baltimore or Dallas a loss quite yet. Those games are winnable. We got to get these next two though. A loss to the phins Sunday would be devastating. -
There is no chance of Alabama winning their conference so if they get in this year, it will be as a wild card. & yes all things being equal, or close, the committee would prefer Ohio St & Alabama in the playoff. You must have a short memory when Ohio St Jumped 4th ranked TCU a few years back TCU was 4th heading onto the championship Saturday. They took care of business but OSU mysteriously jumped them when the final polls came out. & save the BS about OSU drubbing whisky. That should not of been enough to jump an undefeated TCU
-
There are a few team imo that the committee/NCAA really wants in over the years. Ohio St is one, Alabama is the other. If it is close these teams will get picked over another team. With that being said there is noway in hell unless the committee wants to lose all credibility that they are leaving and power 5 conference champ that is undefeated. So with that being said Alabama is not totally cooked but they need this to happen to get in : - Obviously win out - Lsu win out & that includes beating out Georgia in the SEC championship. If Georgia wins (assuming they beat Auburn this week/no guaranty) Georgia is in as SEC champs & LSU would get the nod over Bama since they got head to head. - Lastly they need Baylor to lose. Which like you said, is totally possible. I don't think they get by OU twice, but if they do, they deserve to be in. So with that scenario you got undefeated Clemson, OSU/Minn, SEC champ LSU & now you got most likely 1 loss Oregon/Utah, 1 Loss Oklahoma & 1 loss Alabama vying for that final spot, I guess it all depends on how much the committee values Conference . Alabama's schedule to date has been garbage. It will e interesting I put Bamas odds of getting in right now as not good. they don't control their own destiny, they do need some help.

College Admission Scandals Have Been Going on Forever
Gordio replied to Irv's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Laughlin should of took the plea deal & this would of all been over. Probably would done a couple months in prison. But she is arrogant & I have a feeling she is going to pay dearly(not 45 years but I could see her doing 5-10 years.) -
Uncle Kirbs, Minnesota is very good at home. Factor in this is the biggest home game Minnesota has had in decades, maybe ever & I expect this game to play out kind of like the Iowa/PSU game did. Low scoring, I think Penn St will win but I think it will be a one possession game. That LSU game I don't know, it seems like everybody is on LSU. They are coming into Saban's house, a bit disrespectful to Alabama if you ask me, especially the way Saban has handed Oregeon his lunch the last few years.
