  1. Unless that new GM was the man hired away from the Steelers a few years ago who is the most likely candidate. In house hiring seems to be the policy of Ralph for the GM spot since Donahoe damn near buried the franchise, so I would assume if this were the case Doug Whaley would be the next man for the job
  2. Yeah that's it guy. Keep giving Ralph your money and enjoy when he takes every last dollar laughing to the grave. Its fans like you that help this loser culture continue to invade the Bills and everything surrounding them. Keep helping the stadium sell out so the man who cries poor to the league but cant even let his ego go enough to sell naming rights to the stadium LIKE 30 OTHER TEAMS DO can pocket your cash for the second time....the first time being when he got taxpayers to fund that concrete dump. That's really helped make the point to him that the fanbase is sick of being the laughingstock of the league. I'm beyond disgusted.
  3. How many times have the Bungles made the playoffs since the Bills hired Ol Greggo? No doubt Marvin isn't the best coach around, but I would certainly take him over ANY of the Bills coaches of the last decade.
  4. If I had to rank the options that I'm semi-fond of; Arians, Jay Gruden, Mike McCoy
  5. Whether you are in denial about it or not (but judging by this thread, many are), the season was effectively over after the Colts game. That game right there was HUGE. The Bills had a chance to take a two-game swing right there. They would have been 5-6, the Colts 6-5, and the Colts still have two games against Houston. They may win one, but probably not both. So at that point, if Buffalo wins, they and Indy could conceivably end up tied at 10-6 or 9-7, with the Bills having the head to head tiebreaker. What did the Bills do? FLOP. That was it right there. Biggest game of the season and they laid a big old turd. Then it became the same old song and dance of what, 11 of the last 13 years? WELL THEY COULD MAKE IT IN IF THEY WIN OUT AND (team 1) loses 3 of their last 4 or (team 2) loses 2 of 4 AND (team 1) loses 2 of 4.... That's not good enough. Good teams find a way to find a way to win that Tennessee game. Or that New England game. Those games are on the D. Fitz shouldn't have been throwing at that point, he directed the O to over 30 points in both games. The way my old high school coach said it was best: If you score 3 touchdowns, you should win the game. I trust my defense to do that. In those two games, the Bills D did not deliver. Yesterday, they did, and Gailey did not. I'm sick of this garbage. I am almost 25 years old. The first game I went to, Todd Collins was the QB against the Jets. I barely remember the wild card game against the Jaguars. I kind of remember the Home Run Throwback. What I vividly remember is nothing but a bunch of cheap coaching hires, whiffing on guys like Marvin Lewis and John Fox who went on to have varied degrees of success in the league, and nothing but PUTRID QB play. It's actually embarassing to be a Bills fan.
  6. "Its on the GM" eh? You do realize that Andy Reid's title is head coach and EXECUTIVE VP OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONS right? As in, he has a whole hell of a lot of a say in personnel decisions.
  7. Delete the cookie, you get 10 article views, or columns in the case of Sullivan, before the paywall
  8. And here it comes, another conversion after the 2:00 warning
  9. Scoreboard watch is positive at halftime; Cinci up but a close game, Pitt and Indy both getting worked by terrible teams.
  10. Let me first start at the bottom; SD's problems on the OL started LAST YEAR with the whole Marcus McNeill saga. That left them without their stud LT for nearly half the season (he only played 9 games). At the same time, the whole Dielman seizure issue cost them another 10 games from a starter. That left them with a God awful patchwork OL last year for much of the season, and that just further led to the decline of the Chargers' O after the departure of LT (see my last point for more) Floyd is ranked better than SJ in what, receiving yards? Clearly that must be on SJ13 and not on Fitzpatrick, right? Floyd gets 15 yds/reception, Stevie gets 12.8. But if you take away that 63 yarder, which IMO is an anomaly when you look at Stevie's body of work the past three seasons, and change it to a more typical Stevie catch of say, 13 yards, his YPC is somewhere around 11.9 depending on how you round. Rivers' arm strength is stronger than Fitz's, no doubt in my mind. Rivers is going to throw that 15 yard out on a rope. Fitz is going to shart himself trying to get it there and land it at his WR's feet. I assume you use the same criteria for Chandler and Gates. As I mentioned before, Gates is on the tail-end of his career and is clearly not the same player he was just a few years ago, before the chronic injuries. Couple his decay with the absence of a consistent running game and AGAIN you have the deck stacked against the Chargers' pass game. Which moves me on to my next point. The Bills' run game at this point COULD be considered one of the elite of the NFL. Kind of like SD had back with LT. And kind of the complete opposite of what they have now. If you gave Rivers the CJ/Freddie combo, he would be just as dangerous as he used to be. yeah, he will always throw picks. That's how he plays. BUT unlike Fitz, he has the arm to hit deep balls and I would rather see a QB throw picks on a deep ball than a pick 6 at the LOS. Dude would be straight up lethal with a top-notch possession WR duo of Stevie and Nelson, a burner like Graham who has already shown he can get behind the DBs, a consistent TE in Chandler, and an excellent run game. I can't even address the fact you think Norv is a better coach than Chan. They're both turds.
  11. little to no run game because of the always injured Mathews, NO O line because of McNeill/Dielman injuries/retirements, no real weapons besides an aging Gates due to letting VJax and others walk and a series of poor drafts....that team is an absolute disaster. That's not on Rivers, its on the indescribably terrible job AJ Smith has done in the last 5 years or so.
  12. I agree with this post. Rivers is 31 and from what I can find has 3 years left on the extension he signed in 2009. That takes the pressure off drafting a QB this year, and instead lets them focus on filling the more pressing holes at LB (Barnett is 32), CB2, possibly WR2 and possibly SS unless Searcy pans out. Then, ideally in the 2014 draft, you get your QB of the future and let him sit, study and develop for a year or two (a la Rodgers and Rivers himself).
  13. Same way youth hockey stops hits from behind/to the head. Obviously you're not going to put a big STOP emblem on the kids' helmets, but make the penalty severe. 15 yards, removal from game, possible suspension. Remember hits to the head are often damaging for both players.
  14. Considering he had the procedure during the bye week, his production has picked up since the bye week, the Bills D is 2nd in the NFL since their bye week.... Yeah, I would say there's a bit of an impact there. Two of the three losses since the bye (Houston, Indy) are on the offense and their abysmal red zone performance. The New England loss is on the D, but also on the team as a whole for their poor discipline. And even with that, they still had a shot to win at the end. On the other hand, the Miami win is almost entirely on the defense. They only allowed what? 210 yards and 7 points in that game?
  15. You're doing yourself a disservice by lumping Wilson in with Luck and RG3. Has he been good for a rookie? yes. Has he been winning the games? Not so much. That team lives and dies by the D and the run game. Evidence? 12 starts, only 3 games with > 30 attempts. If the defense allows more than 20 points, the Seahawks are 1-3 (the win being over the Patriots, which was arguably Wilson's best game along with yesterday). He's been solid, but unspectacular. RG3 and Luck on the other hand...well, they've been just flat out spectacular.
  16. Average to below average. Definitely worse (regardless of stage of career): Sanchez/Tebow, Gabbert, Locker, Weeden, Palmer, Quinn/Cassel, Foles, Skelton/Lindley/unhealthy Kolb Probably comparable (depending on the day, most of these guys are pretty inconsistent...just like Fitz): Hasselbeck, Henne, Tannehill, Dalton, Vick (2012 version), Ponder, Newton, Bradford, Wilson, healthy Kolb
  17. I usually only carry a small amount of cash on me. Start the week with $30 or $40 to spend on drinks and such for myself during the work day (so the wifey can't critique what I buy). Anything else...debit card.
  18. Let me make an argument for all of you ranking QB as the #1 priority: You can win football games with an average QB. Just look at Cinci, Dallas, shoot even Jacksonville the last 2 weeks with Henne in. Luck has been good...for a rookie, but not by the greater standard and the Colts have 7 wins. You CAN be a playoff team with league average QB play. You just have to have an above average defense. That being said, the absolute weak spot on this D is the linebackers. All 3 of them. Barnett has been average, but he's 32. He's only going downhill from here. Sheppard has one more chance to make that 3rd year leap but after that, its goodnight sweet prince. Bradham has been OK for a rookie. Behind the LB's there are secondary needs for a CB2 (preferably a calm, steady veteran) and an SS because Wilson's play has really gone down. If you fix the defense, you don't need to score 35 points a game or force your average QB to throw 40 times.
  19. ...and people wonder why I am content with trying to get a job with a municipal worker even though I just graduated with a Bachelor's in Social Studies Education. It certainly ain't getting any better. If any of you have kids who are interested in teaching, DON'T LET THEM! Unless they're something extraordinary (like a female in SS ed, male in Childhood Ed) they don't have a snowball's chance in hell, even if they are an awesome teacher.
  20. P1: LB (preferably 2 of them) P2: QB, CB2, SS, WR2 in that order P3: LB/DT depth
  21. With error....err, Aaron Williams back in the lineup, its safe to say that Shorts or Blackmon--whoever Gilmore isnt mirroring--is going to have an easy 100 yd day
  22. sign me up if this is true
  23. .....if we drafted them, they would be as good as thigpen and donald jones right now. Coaching.
  24. Wish it wasn't so murky as to why it is actually closing. That makes it worse. Hopefully someone can get whatever it is settled so it can reopen. Its iconic and Buffalo needs a venue of that size.
