  1. In addition, Aaron Kromer, their OL coach, also had his contract expire. He's done good work there with making mid-round picks and journeymen like Zach Strief, Jahri Evans, and Brian de la Puente "good enough" to play. He may be willing to leave as well, for something like an Asst. HC/OL coach job under Marrone, knowing that Joe Vitt is the clear cut #2 behind Payton in NO
  2. I think the follow up interview on WGR gave him a chance to really explain why he wasn't mentioning philosophy/scheme/potential coordinators. He basically said he wants to speak with the players first and inform them of what he wants to do. He would rather they hear his plan from him than through the media. Whether we like it or not as fans, that's a good thing. No one likes to hear from their "boss" indirectly. I am sure he has ideas of who to contact and interview and so on. That process begins right now.
  3. Except Chan Gailey basically did that
  4. Those old Bucs D's were great. Also had some really special talent on that team with Barber, Lynch, Sapp, Brooks...
  5. Oh lord the Sheppard era. Run. Run. Play action. Punt. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. That was by far the WORST era in recent history.
  6. I was specifically speaking about his playing career, which I know I wasn't clear about. Then again, what does size have to do with being a coach! But if I remember right, it was 5 games over 2 years, which is...well, brief.
  7. Settle down, Francis. There were 7 head coach openings in the NFL and only 2 have been filled thus far. I think it is safe to say that the vast majority of the available pool of candidates are still available. Andy Reid will most likely assemble a staff in KC very similar to his in Philly.
  8. Well either Brandon knows exactly what we wanted to hear after Chan.....or this guy really is exactly what we wanted after Chan. - Will be involved in all phases of the game - Its about the personnel, not the scheme - Hard work, blue collar, blah blah blah - Play the players that give you the best chance to win - Wants coordinators with NFL experience - Will NOT be calling plays
  9. Just said he wanted his coordinators to have NFL experience. Thank you 5 lb 6 oz baby Jesus
  10. Wgr app is streaming it. Sorry Jay, don't have the Bills app so I don't have anything else I can add.
  11. I believe i read or heard somewhere that the majority of Fitz's money for next season is from a roster bonus. March 1, perhaps?
  12. F5 is the shortcut key for reloading a page. So when you have a thread that moves quickly...for example the Mario Williams saga...if you're monitoring the posts closely you are repeatedly F5 F5 F5'ing your keyboard Chix. Chan + Nix = Chix If I remember correctly lying on the tarmac also came from the Mario's in town saga. Something along the lines of a poster saying he would go to the Buffalo Airport and lie on the tarmac to keep Mario from flying out of town. Someone else will have to verify and expand on that though.
  13. I figured he had to be at least 6'4 for his players (specifically Cuse O-linemen) to be calling him an imposing figure, not to mention his brief NFL experience. So our new coach is basically Lee Smith sized.
  14. A) Because his son is a world class douchebag B) Because he wanted back in the NFL Feel free to order those as you like
  15. Tyler Bray is the same player in clutch moments - mentally at least - as #14. OH 3RD AND 8 IN THE TWO MINUTE DRILL? I'm gonna try to scramble for it.....FUMBLE. The most unclutch, boneheaded crunch time player since well...Tony Romo
  16. Seeing some of his other recent posts, no he wasn't. He's either crazy or he's attempting to troll at a terrible level of skill
  17. Congratulations pal, you did it. The dumbest possible post in the history of TBD. And they said it couldn't be done.
  18. Homage to his alma mater? What's the Marrone/St. John Fisher connection?
  19. Disclaimer: I'm not over the moon for this hire. However.... Syracuse, 2005-08 under Greg Robinson: 10-37, 3-25 in Big East play Syracuse, 2009-12 under Doug Marrone: 25-25, 11-17 in Big East play I may not be a mathematician, but by my count that's 15 more wins in 4 years, which averages out to an improvement of 3.75 wins PER YEAR, and 2 wins per season in the Big East. How bad was Syracuse under Robinson? I ask you to look at the recap from this game in 2007: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=272930183. That's Syracuse, the same school that produced Donovan McNabb, Marvin Harrison, Dwight Freeney and others in the "good years" BARELY BEATING UB, a historically bad football program. So yeah, actually, going 25-25 over 4 years was an improvement. Again I say, how bad was Syracuse under Robinson? In the 2008 NFL draft, Syracuse had a grand total of ZERO players drafted. None. The last time that happened? 1975. Number of players from Robinson era drafted: 6 in 4 drafts. Number of players drafted from Marrone era: 8, thus far, in 3 drafts. C'mon man
  20. I would like to see Carmichael as the OC. Kromer....not so much if it means him being the OL coach. Perhaps as an assistant head coach or something. If there's any coach from the Gailey staff that I hope is brought back, it's Joe D'Alessandris. He did a phenomenal job with the current OL.
  21. Its a hire within a hire within a hire. INCEPTION
  22. Yeah, the Bengals have made the playoffs the past two seasons on the backs of their dominant offense........wait. that's right. The defense carries the offense on that team. Its not making the playoffs because of Dalton specifically. Its making it because of a top 10 (nearly top 5 if I am not mistaken) defense and an offense that is quite pedestrian but good enough to get by. ....basically, they make the playoffs the way many Bills fans expected the Bills to this season. Top 10 D, 15-20th ranked O
  23. I love Horton's personality and think he's got a lot of potential as a coach. But I hate the idea of going back to the 3-4 after dropping over $150 million on two 4-3 DE's, not to mention Kyle Williams' $50 million contract for a player without a true position in a 3-4.
  24. So I am assuming you have a coach in mine that you have seen/read about who DOES know what he wants to do on both sides of the ball? Who is it, I want to read more about him.
  25. Hah, no anger here. Just an astute observation that there is a lack of sanity on TBD for the last 6 days and every thread is "I like Coach A because of B,C,D and Coaches E,F,G suck because of H, I and J" from a bunch of people who don't know much more than ESPN and WGR talking heads tell them about the candidates
