Just going off your sig, are they really projecting TJ Johnson as an OG now? As a Gamecock fan I've watched him the last 4 seasons and seen a big improvement in his game. I thought he was pretty solid at C, and he wasn't asked to be mobile too often. Are you calling him an OG based on projections? Or because you think that's his best fit with the Bills since Wood is at C?

According to the most recent figures I found, UB is around 28,000 (all students) and Stony Brook around 24,000. Albany is around 17,500 and Binghamton just short of 15,000. Binghamton and Stony Brook are higher in the most recent US News rankings by a relatively small margin (89 and 92 to UB's 106). But it seems the money really lies at UB, with their massive $700+ million endowment, compared to $110 million at Stony Brook and $80 million at Binghamton

The knee-jerk reaction is certainly to think it is bad for Buffalo. But it really is not. Look across the nation. Almost every state has a "_____ State University," whether it is the biggest sports program in the state or not. The fact that NY has never had that flagship university in NAME is almost baffling, considering the size of the state. Just listing off the top of my head: Washington St, Oregon St, AZ State, OK State, Kansas St, Iowa St, Michigan St, OHIO STATE, PENN STATE, Mississippi St. And those are just the ones named that way. Then you have the "University of ______" (Florida, Michigan, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Cal, Oregon, Washington, etc) which are also flagship public college. College sports fans could CERTAINLY name where most of those campuses are located. It may take "Buffalo" out of the name, but it will never take Buffalo out of association with the campus. When I think "Penn State" I don't think of Pittsburgh or Philly. I think of State College.

Couldn't have said it better myself. That game was CJ Fair vs. UM on the offensive end. Southerland and MCW had what....7 points combined and Southy's 5 came in the last five minutes?

Precisely. The ref who called that jump ball is known for antics. See below. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger-college-basketball-blog/mark-gottfried-blasts-karl-hess-over-ejection-nc-152136334.html

They would have until the famewhore refs took over in the last 5

Bills workout Tennessee prospects, no Patterson

Barkley worked out with Woods....only one of them is expected to go first round. We really can't do anything but speculate -
I just was going from the basic breakdown I read...I believe it was an ESPN article. Basically said Hardaway and Stauskas benefit from Burke driving and kicking to get their open looks. But the ability of Southerland and Fair to close on the wings so quickly and the height advantage of MCW and Triche may make it very difficult for that to work for them. Instead they're gonna have to rely on Robinson III to hit shots from the elbows and set good screens to free up his teammates. I seriously think this has the potential to be an amazing game.

I believe that is what the injury was. I know he missed a good month-plus. He's skating on the 4th line with Johan Larsson as his center tonight. If all goes well in development, 3 or 4 years from now those two + Foligno could be their two-way "defensive" line

He's having a decent year in Rochester, all things considered. He's one of the youngest player in the AHL, eligible to play there because he was drafted from the USHL instead of the CHL (QMJHL/WHL/OHL). CHL players under 20 play in the CHL or NHL. So as one of the younger players in the league and adjusting to the pro game AND switching from C to LW I think he's had a solid year.

Yes, the Sabres have TWO 2013 1st rounders (MIN), TWO 2013 2nd rounders (MIN), THREE 2014 2nd rounders (one from LA, one from MIN), and TWO 2015 2nd rounders (LA). If you look at what Regier did at last year's draft when he had two 1sts and two 2nds, you can be hopeful they're gonna re-boot quickly. He picked Grigorenko at #12 with his own pick, then used Nashville's #21 overall (from the Gaustad trade) and Buffalo's 2nd round pick (#42) to trade up to #14 with Calgary and select Girgensons. He then used Calgary's #44 overall which he had obtained in the Regehr fleecing and selected Jake McCabe, who immediately became the Sabres' best D prospect, on the same talent level as Brayden McNabb and Mark Pysyk. McNabb will likely be with the team next season, and Pysyk has looked good enough that I'm not sure he'll be seeing Rochester again either. Assuming they're a lock for a top-5 pick at this point (top 3 would be better), he's restocked the cupboards very quickly. Whomever he selects with that top 5 pick will become the #1 prospect at that position, guaranteed. Buffalo hasn't had a top 10 pick since they took Vanek at #5 in 2003--that lack of top-end talent is one of the biggest weaknesses of the current team. Call it Bills syndrome, if you will--never being quite bad enough to get that superstar player. After that top 5 pick, he can either use MIN's #1, STL's #2 and maybe his own #2 or #3 to move back up again and get another Grigorenko/Girgensons caliber prospect, OR he can use those picks as part of a package to get an established player in here to key the rebuild. Don't forget, if they're going all out, Miller and Vanek might go too instead of losing them for nothing. They also will bring in some young player(s?), prospects, and picks that can be packaged. It's an exciting and interesting time to be a Sabres fan. You can see the writing is on the wall. The team is getting re-tooled, possibly completely. You just have to hope the majority of these kids pan out and smart moves continue to be made.

He was also the guy who exemplified the problem with this team. He doesn't really carry any of the traits anyone who has played any sport at any level would like to see in a captain. He was rarely hurt, which was nice. But he was very low-key and I an not sure he is a strong leader. Like many other players on this team, I believe the poorly constructed roster led him to be thrust into a role where he was a bit over his head. I think he's gonna do great in Minnesota, especially if he sticks on then line with Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise. Koivu is their C. Parise wore the C in NJ and now wears an A. Suter wears an A. I believe that Matt Cullen and Dany Wheatley have also worn letters at times in their career. Pominville just needs to show up and do his job now, not be "the guy" and that's gonna be a weight off his shoulders. Not to mention he's playing with two ultra skilled setup guys. I wish him the best.

Very very excited for Saturday night. Its a win/win for Niagara County with Beilein on the other side of the court, but I think this has the potential to be a GREAT game. Beilein is familiar with the zone from his time at WVU, but these players certainly are not. Their 3 point shooters are dynamic, but their open looks are usually created by Burke driving and kicking out. Good luck with that. I think Cuse has the height advantage all the way around, beginning with Triche and MCW at 6'4 and 6'6 at the top against the 6'0 Burke. I read somewhere Michigan will likely play Robinson III at the top of the lane, trying to take advantage of his lanky frame and mid-range game. Should be interesting to watch Southerland and Fair trying to keep Stauskas out of his sweet spots in the corner and Rank and Baye banging down low with McGary

Combination of both

Speculation from doctors that he may have had some undetected stress fractures that exacerbated that injury. I want to say I saw that on CBS Sports

Bills officially sign QB Kevin Kolb
JM57 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lol at how many people reacted to this like the sky is falling -
You're doing a pretty poor job "covering" if the QB can consistently drop the ball over your head. Like I said he may as well get burned right off the line because as a DB his job isnt to "run with his man" his job is to not let the WR catch the ball.
-
Whatever pal. I remember the 2008 draft class very well. I was taking a semester off while transferring colleges at the time and spent a lot of time studying the prospects. Jenkins and I believe Cason as well were all described as custom fit for the Cover 2/zone cover D the Bills were playing at the time. They got drafted to teams who play the 3-4 with a SS who plays in the box. That's not a Cover 2 scheme. (Jenkins and Cason) Flowers on the other hand was supposedly strong in man to man. DRC and McKelvin were considered excellent athletes but a little raw because of their level of competition. Flowers is easily the best CB out of all of them. And he hasn't left KC. That was Brandon Carr. Also a 2008 pick of the Chiefs. If you think Brandon Flowers stinks but Mckelvin is good I urge you to reconsider what you think you know about football. Mckelvin can cover but has bad ball skills? So you think good coverage is sticking with your man 40 or 50 yards down field but letting the ball drop in right over your helmet? HAVE MERCY. If a DB lets that happen he may as well just get burned off the line.
-
Yet you could argue they are all better CBs than Leodis. Even Terrell Thomas who went with the last pick in the 2nd can be lumped in there. He's a great returner. Lousy CB though. Any of those guys would have been a better pick....because you don't pick a return specialist in the top 10

So, you think the Bills draft badly???
JM57 replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look at the Bills 08 draft. Only one left on the roster. Mckelvin. Only one other left IN THE LEAGUE. that's Demetress Bell. Yeah. -
My opinion is that they somehow picked the worst corner of the bunch in 2008 and it sure would be nice to have any of them in here for a reasonable price. I have made this post before but just think it over again folks: McKelvin, DRC, Aqib Talib, Mike Jenkins, Antoine Cason, Brandon Flowers, Tracy Porter were all selected in the top 40. Thanks for nothing Dick and Marv.

MCW and Triche took this game over. Southerland as I type this...only 3 pts and they're up by 13. That's a good sign for Saturday.... or next weekend
-
They came to play tonight. At least this half. I won't get ahead of myself with this schizo squad

Bills RB coach's son is gonna make some Buffalo HS real happy
JM57 replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So what's it gonna be? O'Hara, St Joe's or St Francis? -
They have a 6'9 player who shoots 48% from behind the arc. Yikes.
