  1. Doubt it. He's the veteran presence in the WR group not to mention his value to the team by saving roster spots as a swiss army knife. Emergency QB, #4/5 WR, KR, ST gunner, etc.
  2. Bills.likely didn't select Brown because they're very high in Nigel Bradham and their games are very similar
  3. Still a lot of good players left. They could still get two solid starters in round 2. At WR I like Woods, Hunter and Allen At LB I like Minter and Brown. Add in the fact Teo is still on the board, Hunt and Carradine at DE, Watson and Banks at CB plus Menelik Watson and the QBs (Geno, Barkley, Nassib) and the Bills could likely get two of the guys above.
  4. If it's Ryan Nassib, the first sound I make might be a hammer click. No seriously, it would probably be a moan of disgust and a string of compound expletives
  5. Great work by Tim Graham here: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2013/04/a-fundamental-concern-with-the-bills-drafting-ryan-nassib.html
  6. It would have to be 15 + the Bills or Rams 2nd to make value even with 23 + 25
  7. Sarcasm detected
  8. Yes, but they also let his backup (who was pretty decent) walk. Winning teams don't create holes (like letting 2 OGs walk) just to use their first round pick on those holes. You don't fill a roster with quality players that way.
  9. I would have an issue with it. It would be a shining example of a poorly run organization Step 1: Use 2nd round pick on OG Step 2: He plays all games in tenure with team over 4(?) seasons Step 3: Let him walk as a UFA Step 4: Draft his replacement with your 1st round pick Step 5: He plays X games in tenure with teams over X seasons Step 6: Let him walk Step 7: Draft his replacement.... For an example of how this works and where it gets a team, please see the recent DB draft history of the Buffalo Bil----yeah.
  10. I don't trust a word out of ESPN because I think a lot of their analysts get envelopes from agents to hype clients up. See: Kiper's Gabbert love. Who else likes him that much?
  11. Because this would demonstrate exactly what a small time third rate operation they are. Brandon comes out claiming absolute control of operations and promising big changes. He hires a college coach (I do like the hire) from a local program who then comes in and reaches to draft a 2nd round QB who just so happened to be his college QB in the top 10. That would be it. I have been on the edge for awhile but if Marrone wants to turn OBD into Syracuse West, he's gonna be another failed hire.
  12. RE: Buffalo "@mortreport: Growing belief around NFL it's Nassib or trade down if they can" I will be absolutely done with this team
  13. If anyone was betting on who the first !@#$ media member to make a dumb comment would be....Erik Rush is the winner.
  14. I also called this. Yahtzee
  15. Yes, it's always been 30. I have been scouring for a list from 2011, but can't find a complete one. However according to Joe Buscaglia here's the history. 2010: Spiller and Carrington 2011: Dareus, Williams, Sheppard 2012: Gilmore, Glenn, Carder. Get familiar with the guys on the list, fellas! Pretty high chances the Bills' top 2 (maybe 3) picks are on the visit list.
  16. Exactly what I liked out of him as a Gamecocks fan and seeing him get drafted to Buffalo. Not to mention his rookie season was only his 4th as a full-time DB, so he may still be on somewhat of a learning curve. He's very physical, but I think that as time progresses and he earns the "respect" of the referees (see: Revis, Sherman, Browner, etc.) he will get a little more leeway with that physical play and/or developed nuanced techniques that don't earn him a flag.
  17. I have to say this. Spurrier/South Carolina got 4 straight SC Mr. Football winners. Three of them seem to be just outstanding teammates and young men. I don't know too much about Shaq Roland off the field to say all 4 of then classify. But Stephon Gilmore, Marcus Lattimore and Clowney all just seem like high character guys driven to succeed on the field and give back off of it
  18. Who said they need a "statewide fan base"? NYS is top 5 nationwide in population, and relatively comparable to Florida in area. Do the Gators or the Seminoles have a statewide base? What about Dook/UNC or Clemson/S. Carolina in smaller states? Or Michigan/Michigan St? Sure they draw fans from all over the state, but it's not like the entire state gets behind a single team. Those are much smaller states (unless you don't count NYC at all, in which case they're comparable to the rest of NYS) and those programs can all pack stadiums. The reason I know about those 3 schools besides the fact I attend a SUNY (okay, SUC) school? Because they've all been in March Madness in the last 5-ish years.
  19. re: the fieldhouse; IIRC UB is one of the few D-I programs without indoor practice facilities, which is a big negative when it comes to recruiting
  20. Actually glad it didn't work out that way. My exact thoughts when that stoppage occurred were "Please God let anyone but Southerland take this tying attempt"
  21. I actually had a professor in undergrad that left UCLA (!!!!!!!!) for a full-time position at Buff State.
  22. Typical Buffalo fear of change going on in this thread. You know what's stupid? The name "University AT Buffalo". That's dumb. It sounds dumb, it looks dumb. University of Buffalo? Sounds correct. State University of New York, Buffalo? Sounds appropriate. Just like the UC system SUNY was supposedly modeled after. It's not "The University of California AT Berkeley" or "AT Davis" or "AT Los Angeles". It just sounds WRONG. The University of California, Berkeley. That sounds better. Just like SUNY, Buffalo would be at least a small improvement. I don't care what they change their name to. It's just a name. The fact remains that re-branding WORKS. If it didn't, it wouldn't happen all the time. Whether we want to admit it or not, marketing folks (Ahem RUSS BRANDON) know how to use even the smallest cues to manipulate your thought process and hope to capture your impulses. It's why grocery stores are laid out the way they are. It's why commercials are so annoying and repetitive. Marketing works, and oftentimes subconsciously. Period.
  23. I am rooting for Beilein because he is a WNY guy. Definitely not supporting Michigan. Just their coach.
