I watched a not ready kid throw no less than 3 interceptions off his back foot on Sunday. I'll gladly watch Taylor for 6 more games knowing he's not the answer than ever watch that again.

Half rate Ron Howard's wild rollercoaster ride continues! Good timing. Sorry for your loss this week.

My thoughts: The OL was bad and Peterman suffered for it. BUT he also has to know you can't just toss up desperation heaves from your back foot under duress. Watch the Joey Bosa mic'd up clip and you'll notice that on at least 3 of the INTs, he's throwing completely off his back foot. Yeah, Dimarco should have caught the first one, but if Peterman isn't making a jump throw off his back foot maybe it's not as high. There was some really, really poor decisions made by the kid under duress which to me shows that he was not ready to play. McDermott really screwed the pooch with that call.

Lets just go for Kirk Cousins in the offseason

Why would I get my hopes up, I'm a Bills fan. It's tough talking about these guys because we expect them to be perfectly mature adults coming out of college but the truth is the majority are still 20-22 years old when they come into the league. Most of us would be lying if we claimed that we were as mature at 21 or 22 as we are at (in my case) 29 or older. Most people calm down as they move through their 20s and learn to harness their emotions if they haven't already, you know? -

Reading that, he's talking about those guys in terms of size, sure. But then he mentions arm strength and the scheme they play in and whether or not they can or do audible. Rudolph probably has the weakest arm out of the 4, and I've seen multiple mentions of the Oklahoma State offense being a detriment to his draft stock. Then he goes into intangibles which is where I think Mayfield is going to make good GMs drool. Yeah, he's done some silly stuff like the crotch grab, but that stuff can be corrected with a little more maturity. He's got that fiery leadership style. Intangibles is where Rosen will probably get dinged by teams. -

Oh Jesus Christ on a cracker I've seen closeups of Tom Brady cursing out his offensive teammates on the sidelines for 15+ years and we're going to pass on a quarterback for a little crotch grab? Save me the righteousness. I want someone who is absolutely driven to win, not a team of good sweet choir boys. -

What description did Beane give -
Just a common fan here but I would say with a fair amount of confidence that Peterman "got into the quicksand" by throwing up a prayer off his back foot while under duress not once but TWICE. If he didn't learn the first time that you can't just chuck it up like MJ shooting a fade away, he's not ready.

A good coach tailors his scheme to the talent he has instead of forcing players into roles that they are not suited for them. -
Benjamin, Matthews, Gaines. Were we duped?
JM57 replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't understand how you think that Matthews breaking a thumb after catching a ball awkwardly or Benjamin getting injured by taking a helmet to the knee has anything to do with the medical staff being duped. -
That's what I came here to say. Leaks sealed up when they hired the new guy from Philly and gave Berchtold the boot. He was absolutely one source of leaks.

Blame Dennison if You Want, But it's Not the System

We can agree to disagree I suppose because we are just going in circles. You say the limits are because Tyrod has glaring deficiencies, which I do not deny exist. I say that the scheme has shown it is limited before. It had limits in Houston. It had limits in Baltimore. It had limits in Denver. The only time in the last decade it looked good was with peak Matt Schaub, peak Arian Foster, and peak Andre Johnson. That's a whole lot of prerequisite needs, considering in the moment all 3 of those guys were probably top 10 at their positions. I say the hallmark of bad coaching is saying "This is my scheme, you play within it." It's what Rex Ryan did with the defense. He took a top 5 defense and ruined it by jamming those guys into it. Dennison is taking an offense that scored a lot of points and had a lot of splash plays the last two years, taking away the splash plays, and forcing the QB that made those plays to play within his scheme, because he doesn't know any different and isn't a good enough coach to integrate what Tyrod does well into his playbook. Yes, Tyrod has left plays on the field. Because he doesn't fit the scheme, he is processing slower, playing slower and throwing without confidence. Again, bad coaching. I want Peterman to succeed because I am sick of the playoff drought. But I have a very low level of confidence in that happening. Dynamic offense wins in this league, and this scheme is the furthest thing from dynamic. It is 15 plays over and over again with a different look thrown in every once in awhile for kicks. Meanwhile Payton and McVay are out there just murdering other teams with constantly changing packages and designs. -

You are talking about offenses 6 years ago or more. You cannot run the same thing with no changes to it for that long and expect it to be successful. There has to be new concepts added. The game is always changing. This offense is STALE, boring and predictable. I keep saying it. It CAN be average, but that's all it can be. Dennison doesn't have the chops to run a scheme like Kyle Shanahan. He just keeps running what he knows. -
What (do you think) Peterman's stats are this week?

Ok, let's say he was dumbing it down for Tyrod. What was his excuse for the years of poor performance in Denver? Were he and Kubiak dumbing it down for Peyton Manning too? The scheme has one function: ball control. That alone cannot win you games in the NFL in 2017. Peterman might make more quicker throws and deliver more consistency. We might see less three and outs. But this scheme and this coordinator are completely underwhelming. It will never be good, let alone great. It will be average, at very best. -

Kyle runs his dad's offense with about 100 wrinkles added in. That is part of the reason it is so effective. It's not stale, it's complex and ever-changing. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2017/02/01/kyle-shanahans-offense-borrows-from-his-mentors-but-is-entirely-his-own/ Dennison has what seems to be a much more rudimentary form of the offense. Very little shotgun. Very little, if any, RPO concepts or pistol formation. Despite it being something that would have helped Tyrod, he did not roll or bootleg him out very frequently. Kyle Shanahan is playing 4D chess and Offensive Jauron is playing checkers. You will have a tough time convincing me that someone who has been coaching in the league for TWENTY years without ever being a play caller on his own has any idea what he's doing. -

JM57 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would you expect good things? When was the last time this offense, the Kubiak/Dennison offense, was any good? It was 2012, the year before Matt Schaub fell off a cliff and forgot how to throw to his own team. The scheme is dated. The coordinator is unqualified. It will never be anything more than average IF they get a very good QB to put into it. -
